We consider low‐dimensional groups and group‐actions that are definable in a supersimple theory of finite rank. We show that any rank 1 unimodular group is (finite‐by‐Abelian)‐by‐finite, and that any 2‐dimensional asymptotic group is soluble‐by‐finite. We obtain a field‐interpretation theorem for certain measurable groups, and give an analysis of minimal normal subgroups and socles in groups definable in a supersimple theory of finite rank where infinity is definable. The power graph of a group is the graph whose vertex set is the group, two elements being adjacent if one is a power of the other. We observe that non-isomorphic finite groups may have isomorphic power graphs, but that finite abelian groups with isomorphic power graphs must be isomorphic. We conjecture that two finite groups with isomorphic power graphs have the same number of elements of each order. We also show that the only finite group whose automorphism group is the same as that of its power graph is the Klein group of order 4.  相似文献

In this article we study the MOR cryptosystem. We use the group of unitriangular matrices over a finite field as the non-abelian group in the MOR cryptosystem. We show that a cryptosystem similar to the ElGamal cryptosystem over finite fields can be built using the proposed groups and a set of automorphisms of these groups. We also show that the security of this proposed MOR cryptosystem is equivalent to the ElGamal cryptosystem over finite fields.  相似文献

We study complete and reduced associative rings (in the sense of L. M. Martynov). We prove a necessary and sufficient test for completeness of a semigroup ring, calculate the greatest complete subring (which is an ideal) of a group ring over finite prime fields, and characterize the reduced group rings of finite groups over finite prime fields.  相似文献

We show that every virtually torsion-free subgroup of the outer automorphism group of a conjugacy separable relatively hyperbolic group is residually finite. As a direct consequence, we obtain that the outer automorphism group of a limit group is residually finite.  相似文献

We refer to an Alperin group as a group in which the commutant of every 2-generated subgroup is cyclic. Alperin proved that if p is an odd prime then all finite p-groups with the property are metabelian. Nevertheless, finite Alperin 2-groups may fail to be metabelian. We prove that for each finite abelian group H there exists a finite Alperin group G for which G″ is isomorphic to H.  相似文献

We show that residually finite or word hyperbolic groups which can be decomposed as a finite union of double cosets of a cyclic subgroup are necessarily virtually cyclic, and we apply this result to the study of Frobenius permutation groups. We show that in general, finite double coset decompositions of a group can be interpreted as an obstruction to splitting a group as a free product with amalgamation or an HNN extension.  相似文献

We describe the conjugacy classes of finite subgroups in some split extensions using the notion of 1-cocycle and 1-coboundary with values in a noncommutative group. We prove that each finite subgroup in the automorphism group of a free Lie algebra of rank 3 is conjugated with a subgroup of the linear automorphism group provided that the group order does not divide the characteristic of the ground field.  相似文献

We investigate ways in which certain binary homomorphisms of a finite algebra can guarantee its dualisability. Of particular interest are those binary homomorphisms which are lattice, flat-semilattice or group operations. We prove that a finite algebra which has a pair of lattice operations amongst its binary homomorphisms is dualisable. As an application of this result, we find that every finite unary algebra can be embedded into a dualisable algebra. We develop some general tools which we use to prove the dualisability of a large number of unary algebras. For example, we show that the endomorphisms of a finite cyclic group are the operations of a dualisable unary algebra.  相似文献

We consider the natural action of a finite group on the moduli space of polarized K3 surfaces which induces a duality defined by Mukai for surfaces of this type. We show that the group permutes polarized Fourier-Mukai partners of polarized K3 surfaces and we study the divisors in the fixed loci of the elements of this finite group.

The spectrum of a finite group is the set of its element orders. We prove a theorem on the structure of a finite group whose spectrum is equal to the spectrum of a finite nonabelian simple group. The generalised Fitting subgroup of a finite group is the group generated by all subnormal subgroups that are either nilpotent or quasisimple. The importance of this subgroup in finite group theory stems from the fact that it always contains its own centraliser, so that any finite group is an abelian extension of a group of automorphisms of its generalised Fitting subgroup. We define a class of profinite groups which generalises this phenomenon, and explore some consequences for the structure of profinite groups.  相似文献
