In this work, we introduce the classical orthogonal polynomials in two variables as the solutions of a matrix second order partial differential equation involving matrix polynomial coefficients, the usual gradient operator, and the divergence operator. Here we show that the successive gradients of these polynomials also satisfy a matrix second order partial differential equation closely related to the first one.  相似文献

Classical orthogonal polynomials in two variables are defined as the orthogonal polynomials associated to a two-variable moment functional satisfying a matrix analogue of the Pearson differential equation. Furthermore, we characterize classical orthogonal polynomials in two variables as the polynomial solutions of a matrix second order partial differential equation. In this study, we present a numerical scheme for solving a class of fractional partial differential equations. First, we introduce psi -Laguerre polynomials like psi-shifted Chebyshev polynomials and employ these newly introduced polynomials for the solution of space-time fractional differential equations. In our approach, we project these polynomials to develop operational matrices of fractional integration. The use of these orthogonal polynomials converts the problem under consideration into a system of algebraic equations. The solution of this system provide us the desired results. The convergence of the proposed method is analyzed. Finally, some illustrative examples are included to observe the validity and applicability of the proposed method.  相似文献

A hierarchy of matrix-valued polynomials which generalize the Jacobi polynomials is found. Defined by a Rodrigues formula, they are also products of a sequence of differential operators. Each class of polynomials is complete, satisfies a three term recurrence relation, integral inter-relations, and weak orthogonality relations.  相似文献

In this paper, we give some new relations between two families of polynomials defined by three-term recurrence relations. These relations allow us to study how some properties of a family of orthogonal polynomials are affected when the coefficients of the recurrence relation are perturbed. In the literature some methods are already available. However, most of them are only effective for small perturbations. In order to show the sharpness of our method, we compare it with Gronwall's classical method in the case of large perturbations. Using our tool, we also give a relation between the differential equation satisfied by a family of orthogonal polynomials and its perturbed family. Some explicit results are obtained for Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind.  相似文献

New integral and differential formulas for zonal polynomials are proved. As illustrations, zonal polynomials corresponding to partitions of two parts are computed. A method is presented, based on a certain partial differential operator, for expressing an orthogonally invariant polynomial as a linear combination of zonals. Zonal polynomials are expressed as linear combinations of well-known symmetric polynomials.  相似文献

Para‐orthogonal polynomials derived from orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle are known to have all their zeros on the unit circle. In this note we study the zeros of a family of hypergeometric para‐orthogonal polynomials. As tools to study these polynomials, we obtain new results which can be considered as extensions of certain classical results associated with three term recurrence relations and differential equations satisfied by orthogonal polynomials on the real line. One of these results which might be considered as an extension of the classical Sturm comparison theorem, enables us to obtain monotonicity with respect to the parameters for the zeros of these para‐orthogonal polynomials. Finally, a monotonicity of the zeros of Meixner‐Pollaczek polynomials is proved.  相似文献

We bring a new proof for showing that an orthogonal polynomial sequence is classical if and only if any of its polynomial fulfils a certain differential equation of order 2k, for some k?1. So, we build those differential equations explicitly. If k=1, we get the Bochner's characterization of classical polynomials. With help of the formal computations made in Mathematica, we explicitly give those differential equations for k=1,2 and 3 for each family of the classical polynomials. Higher order differential equations can be obtained similarly.  相似文献

In the spectral Petrov‐Galerkin methods, the trial and test functions are required to satisfy particular boundary conditions. By a suitable linear combination of orthogonal polynomials, a basis, that is called the modal basis, is obtained. In this paper, we extend this idea to the nonorthogonal dual Bernstein polynomials. A compact general formula is derived for the modal basis functions based on dual Bernstein polynomials. Then, we present a Bernstein‐spectral Petrov‐Galerkin method for a class of time fractional partial differential equations with Caputo derivative. It is shown that the method leads to banded sparse linear systems for problems with constant coefficients. Some numerical examples are provided to show the efficiency and the spectral accuracy of the method.  相似文献

Using the language of Riordan arrays, we study a one-parameter family of orthogonal polynomials that we call the restricted Chebyshev–Boubaker polynomials. We characterize these polynomials in terms of the three term recurrences that they satisfy, and we study certain central sequences defined by their coefficient arrays. We give an integral representation for their moments, and we show that the Hankel transforms of these moments have a simple form. We show that the (sequence) Hankel transform of the row sums of the corresponding moment matrix is defined by a family of polynomials closely related to the Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind, and that these row sums are in fact the moments of another family of orthogonal polynomials.  相似文献

Ratio asymptotic results give the asymptotic behaviour of the ratio between two consecutive orthogonal polynomials with respect to a positive measure. In this paper, we obtain ratio asymptotic results for orthogonal matrix polynomials and introduce the matrix analogs of the scalar Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind.  相似文献

It has been shown in Ferreira et al. [Asymptotic relations in the Askey scheme for hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials, Adv. in Appl. Math. 31(1) (2003) 61–85], López and Temme [Approximations of orthogonal polynomials in terms of Hermite polynomials, Methods Appl. Anal. 6 (1999) 131–146; The Askey scheme for hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials viewed from asymptotic analysis, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 133 (2001) 623–633] that the three lower levels of the Askey table of hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials are connected by means of asymptotic relations. In Ferreira et al. [Limit relations between the Hahn polynomials and the Hermite, Laguerre and Charlier polynomials, submitted for publication] we have established new asymptotic connections between the fourth level and the two lower levels. In this paper, we continue with that program and obtain asymptotic expansions between the fourth level and the third level: we derive 16 asymptotic expansions of the Hahn, dual Hahn, continuous Hahn and continuous dual Hahn polynomials in terms of Meixner–Pollaczek, Jacobi, Meixner and Krawtchouk polynomials. From these expansions, we also derive three new limits between those polynomials. Some numerical experiments show the accuracy of the approximations and, in particular, the accuracy in the approximation of the zeros of those polynomials.  相似文献

We consider the Hankel determinant generated by the Gaussian weight with two jump discontinuities. Utilizing the results of Min and Chen [Math. Methods Appl Sci. 2019;42:301‐321] where a second‐order partial differential equation (PDE) was deduced for the log derivative of the Hankel determinant by using the ladder operators adapted to orthogonal polynomials, we derive the coupled Painlevé IV system which was established in Wu and Xu [arXiv: 2002.11240v2] by a study of the Riemann‐Hilbert problem for orthogonal polynomials. Under double scaling, we show that, as , the log derivative of the Hankel determinant in the scaled variables tends to the Hamiltonian of a coupled Painlevé II system and it satisfies a second‐order PDE. In addition, we obtain the asymptotics for the recurrence coefficients of orthogonal polynomials, which are connected with the solutions of the coupled Painlevé II system.  相似文献

In the first part we expose the notion of continued fractions in the matrix case. In this paper we are interested in their connection with matrix orthogonal polynomials.

In the second part matrix continued fractions are used to develop the notion of matrix Chebyshev polynomials. In the case of hermitian coefficients in the recurrence formula, we give the explicit formula for the Stieltjes transform, the support of the orthogonality measure and its density. As a corollary we get the extension of the matrix version of the Blumenthal theorem proved in [J. Approx. Theory 84 (1) (1996) 96].

The third part contains examples of matrix orthogonal polynomials.  相似文献

Multiple Wilson and Jacobi–Piñeiro polynomials   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
We introduce multiple Wilson polynomials, which give a new example of multiple orthogonal polynomials (Hermite–Padé polynomials) of type II. These polynomials can be written as a Jacobi–Piñeiro transform, which is a generalization of the Jacobi transform for Wilson polynomials, found by Koornwinder. Here we need to introduce Jacobi and Jacobi–Piñeiro polynomials with complex parameters. Some explicit formulas are provided for both Jacobi–Piñeiro and multiple Wilson polynomials, one of them in terms of Kampé de Fériet series. Finally, we look at some limiting relations and construct a part of a multiple AT-Askey table.  相似文献

We obtain an explicit expression for the Sobolev-type orthogonal polynomials {Qn} associated with the inner product
, where p(x) = (1 − x)(1 + x)β is the Jacobi weight function, ,β> − 1, A1,B1,A2,B20 and p, q P, the linear space of polynomials with real coefficients. The hypergeometric representation (6F5) and the second-order linear differential equation that such polynomials satisfy are also obtained. The asymptotic behaviour of such polynomials in [−1, 1] is studied. Furthermore, we obtain some estimates for the largest zero of Qn(x). Such a zero is located outside the interval [−1, 1]. We deduce his dependence of the masses. Finally, the WKB analysis for the distribution of zeros is presented.  相似文献

Orthogonal polynomials satisfy a recurrence relation of order two defined by two sequences of coefficients. If we modify one of these recurrence coefficients at a certain order, we obtain the so-called perturbed orthogonal sequence. In this work, we analyse perturbed Chebyshev polynomials of second kind and we deal with the problem of finding the connection coefficients that allow us to write the perturbed sequence in terms of the original one and in terms of the canonical basis. From the connection coefficients obtained, we derive some results about zeros at the origin. The analysis is valid for arbitrary order of perturbation.  相似文献
