LetK be a compact, convex subset ofE dwhich can be tiled by a finite number of disjoint (on interiors) translates of some compact setY. Then we may writeK=X+Y, whereX is finite. The possible structures forK, X andY are completely determined under these conditions.  相似文献

Our paper studies the topology of uniform convergence on compact sets on the space of densely continuous forms (introduced by Hammer and McCoy (1997)), usco and minimal usco maps. We generalize and complete results from Hammer and McCoy (1997) concerning the space D(X,Y) of densely continuous forms from X to Y. Let X be a Hausdorff topological space, (Y,d) be a metric space and D k (X,Y) the topology of uniform convergence on compact sets on D(X,Y). We prove the following main results: D k (X,Y) is metrizable iff D k (X,Y) is first countable iff X is hemicompact. This result gives also a positive answer to question 4.1 of McCoy (1998). If moreover X is a locally compact hemicompact space and (Y,d) is a locally compact complete metric space, then D k (X,Y) is completely metrizable, thus improving a result from McCoy (1998). We study also the question, suggested by Hammer and McCoy (1998), when two compatible metrics on Y generate the same topologies of uniform convergence on compact sets on D(X,Y). The completeness of the topology of uniform convergence on compact sets on the space of set-valued maps with closed graphs, usco and minimal usco maps is also discussed.  相似文献

Let (X1) and (Y2) be two Hausdorff locally convex spaces with continuous duals X′ and Y′, respectively, L(X,Y) be the space of all continuous linear operators from X into Y, K(X,Y) be the space of all compact operators of L(X,Y). Let WOT and UOT be the weak operator topology and uniform operator topology on K(X,Y), respectively. In this paper, we characterize a full-invariant property of K(X,Y); that is, if the sequence space λ has the signed-weak gliding hump property, then each λ-multiplier WOT-convergent series ∑iTi in K(X,Y) must be λ-multiplier convergent with respect to all topologies between WOT and UOT if and only if each continuous linear operator T :(X1)→(λβ,σ(λβ,λ)) is compact. It follows from this result that the converse of Kalton's Orlicz–Pettis theorem is also true.  相似文献

Abstract

Let X, Y, Z be integral subvarieties of P n . Let [X; Y]??? P n denote the join. Under what conditions on X, Y and/or Z if [X; Y]?=?[X; Z], then Y?=?Z? Here, we study the case in which X, Y and Z are curves.  相似文献

Consider a couple of Banach function spaces X and Y over the same measure space and the space X Y of multiplication operators from X into Y. In this paper, (p,Y)-Bessel operator sequences, operator frames and (p,Y)-Riesz bases for a Banach space X are introduced and discussed as generalizations of the usual concepts for a Hilbert space and of the g-frames. It is proved that the set of all (p,Y)-Bessel operator sequences for a Banach space X is a Banach space and isometrically isomorphic to the operator space B(X,p(Y)). Some necessary and sufficient conditions for a sequence of operators to be a (p,Y)-Bessel operator sequence are given. Also, a characterization of an independent (p,Y)-operator frame for X is obtained. Lastly, it is shown that an independent (p,Y)-operator frame for X is just a (p,Y)-Riesz basis for X and has a unique dual (q,Y*)-operator frame for X*.  相似文献

The perturbation classes problem for semi-Fredholm operators asks when the equalities SS(X,Y)=PF+(X,Y){\mathcal{SS}(X,Y)=P\Phi_+(X,Y)} and SC(X,Y)=PF-(X,Y){\mathcal{SC}(X,Y)=P\Phi_-(X,Y)} are satisfied, where SS{\mathcal{SS}} and SC{\mathcal{SC}} denote the strictly singular and the strictly cosingular operators, and PΦ+ and PΦ denote the perturbation classes for upper semi-Fredholm and lower semi-Fredholm operators. We show that, when Y is a reflexive Banach space, SS(Y*,X*)=PF+(Y*,X*){\mathcal{SS}(Y^*,X^*)=P\Phi_+(Y^*,X^*)} if and only if SC(X,Y)=PF-(X,Y),{\mathcal{SC}(X,Y)=P\Phi_-(X,Y),} and SC(Y*,X*)=PF-(Y*,X*){\mathcal{SC}(Y^*,X^*)=P\Phi_-(Y^*,X^*)} if and only if SS(X,Y)=PF+(X,Y){\mathcal{SS}(X,Y)=P\Phi_+(X,Y)}. Moreover we give examples showing that both direct implications fail in general.  相似文献

This article deals with a quantification of the instability behavior of the slotted multiuser communication network system ALOHA. In (2) U. Schmid and the author could quantify the expected value E (Y) of the instability time Y = max (n: Xn = 0), where Xn denotes the backlog after n slots. Here it is shown that Y is approximately exponentially distributed. Moreover, uniform asymptotic expansions for ym = P [Y = m] and for the moments Mm = E (Ym) are given. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

We prove that if X is a Banach space and Y is a proximinal subspace of finite codimension in X such that the finite dimensional annihilator of Y is polyhedral, then the metric projection from X onto Y is lower Hausdorff semi continuous. In particular this implies that if X and Y are as above, with the unit sphere of the annihilator space of Y contained in the set of quasi-polyhedral points of X *, then the metric projection onto Y is Hausdorff metric continuous.
