We consider the Navier–Stokes system with variable density and variable viscosity coupled to a transport equation for an order‐parameter c. Moreover, an extra stress depending on c and ?c, which describes surface tension like effects, is included in the Navier–Stokes system. Such a system arises, e.g. for certain models of granular flows and as a diffuse interface model for a two‐phase flow of viscous incompressible fluids. The so‐called density‐dependent Navier–Stokes system is also a special case of our system. We prove short‐time existence of strong solution in Lq‐Sobolev spaces with q>d. We consider the case of a bounded domain and an asymptotically flat layer with a combination of a Dirichlet boundary condition and a free surface boundary condition. The result is based on a maximal regularity result for the linearized system. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The free‐boundary compressible one‐dimensional Euler equations with moving physical vacuum boundary are a system of hyperbolic conservation laws that are both characteristic and degenerate. The physical vacuum singularity (or rate of degeneracy) requires the sound speed $c^2= \gamma \rho^{ \gamma -1}$ to scale as the square root of the distance to the vacuum boundary and has attracted a great deal of attention in recent years. We establish the existence of unique solutions to this system on a short time interval, which are smooth (in Sobolev spaces) all the way to the moving boundary. The proof is founded on a new higher‐order, Hardy‐type inequality in conjunction with an approximation of the Euler equations consisting of a particular degenerate parabolic regularization. Our regular solutions can be viewed as degenerate viscosity solutions. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

We study a class of compressible non‐Newtonian fluids in one space dimension. We prove, by using iterative method, the global time existence and uniqueness of strong solutions provided that the initial data satisfy a compatibility condition and the initial density is small in its H1‐norm. The main difficulty is due to the strong nonlinearity of the system and the initial vacuum. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We prove dimension formulas for the cotangent spaces T 1 and T 2 for a class of rational surface singularities by calculating a correction term in the general dimension formulas. We get that it is zero if the dual graph of the rational surface singularity X does not contain a particular type of configurations, and this generalizes a result of Theo de Jong stating that the correction term c (X ) is zero for rational determinantal surface singularities. In particular our result implies that c (X ) is zero for Riemenschneiders quasi‐determinantal rational surface singularities, and this also generalizes results for quotient singularities. For the physical vacuum free boundary problem with the sound speed being C1/2‐Hölder continuous near vacuum boundaries of the one‐dimensional compressible Euler equations with damping, the global existence of the smooth solution is proved, which is shown to converge to the Barenblatt self‐similar solution for the porous media equation with the same total mass when the initial datum is a small perturbation of the Barenblatt solution. The pointwise convergence with a rate of density, the convergence rate of velocity in the supremum norm, and the precise expanding rate of the physical vacuum boundaries are also given. The proof is based on a construction of higher‐order weighted functionals with both space and time weights capturing the behavior of solutions both near vacuum states and in large time, an introduction of a new ansatz, higher‐order nonlinear energy estimates, and elliptic estimates.© 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the one‐dimensional compressible isentropic Navier–Stokes equations with a general ‘pressure law’ and the density‐dependent viscosity coefficient when the density connects to vacuum continuously. Precisely, the viscosity coefficient µ is proportional to ρθ and 0<θ<1, where ρ is the density. And the pressure P = P(ρ) is a general ‘pressure law’. The global existence and the uniqueness of weak solutions is proved, and a decay result for the pressure as t→ + ∞ is given. It is also proved that no vacuum states and no concentration states develop, and the free boundary do not expand to infinite. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We consider the short time strong solutions to the compressible magnetohydrodynamic equations with initial vacuum, in which the velocity field satisfies the Navier‐slip condition. The Navier‐slip condition differs in many aspects from no‐slip conditions, and it has attracted considerable attention in nanoscale and microscale flows research. Inspired by Kato and Lax's idea, we use the Lax–Milgram theorem and contraction mapping argument to prove local existence. Moreover, under the Navier‐slip condition, we establish a criterion for possible breakdown of such solutions at finite time in terms of the temporal integral of L norm of the deformation tensor D(u). In this paper, we prove the existence and uniqueness of the weak solution of the one‐dimensional compressible Navier–Stokes equations with density‐dependent viscosity µ(ρ)=ρθ with θ∈(0, γ?2], γ>1. The initial data are a perturbation of a corresponding steady solution and continuously contact with vacuum on the free boundary. The obtained results apply for the one‐dimensional Siant–Venant model of shallow water and generalize ones in (Arch. Rational Mech. Anal. 2006; 182: 223–253). We consider symmetric flows of a viscous compressible barotropic fluid with a free boundary, under a general mass force depending both on the Eulerian and Lagrangian co‐ordinates, with arbitrarily large initial data. For a general non‐monotone state function p, we prove uniform‐in‐time energy bound and the uniform bounds for the density ρ, together with the stabilization as t → ∞ of the kinetic and potential energies. We also obtain H1‐stabilization of the velocity v to zero provided that the second viscosity is zero. For either increasing or non‐decreasing p, we study the Lλ‐stabilization of ρ and the stabilization of the free boundary together with the corresponding ω‐limit set in the general case of non‐unique stationary solution possibly with zones of vacuum. In the case of increasing p and stationary densities ρS separated from zero, we establish the uniform‐in‐time H1‐bounds and the uniform stabilization for ρ and v. All these results are stated and mainly proved in the Eulerian co‐ordinates. They are supplemented with the corresponding stabilization results in the Lagrangian co‐ordinates in the case of ρS separated from zero. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper concerns the large time behavior of strong and classical solutions to the two-dimensional Stokes approximation equations for the compressible flows. We consider the unique global strong solution or classical solution to the two-dimensional Stokes approximation equations for the compressible flows with large external potential force, together with a Navier-slip boundary condition, for arbitrarily large initial data. Under the conditions that the corresponding steady state exists uniquely with the steady state density away from vacuum, we prove that the density is bounded from above independently of time, consequently, it converges to the steady state density in Lp and the velocity u converges to the steady state velocity in W1,p for any 1p<∞ as time goes to infinity; furthermore, we show that if the initial density contains vacuum at least at one point, then the derivatives of the density must blow up as time goes to infinity.  相似文献

Abstract

We show the existence of weak solutions in an elliptic region in the self-similar plane to the two-dimensional Riemann problem for the pressure-gradient system of the compressible Euler system. The two-dimensional Riemann problem we study is the interaction of two forward rarefaction waves, which are adjacent to a common vacuum that occupies a sectorial domain of 90 degrees. We assume the origin is on the boundary of the domain. In addition, the domain is open, bounded, and simply connected with a piecewise C 2,α boundary. We resolve the difficulty that arises from the fact that the origin is on the boundary of the domain.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Global solutions of the multidimensional Navier-Stokes equations for compressible heat-conducting flow are constructed, with spherically symmetric initial data of large oscillation between a static solid core and a free boundary connected to a surrounding vacuum state. The free boundary connects the compressible heat-conducting fluids to the vacuum state with free normal stress and zero normal heat flux. The fluids are initially assumed to fill with a finite volume and zero density at the free boundary, and with bounded positive density and temperature between the solid core and the initial position of the free boundary. One of the main features of this problem is the singularity of solutions near the free boundary. Our approach is to combine an effective difference scheme to construct approximate solutions with the energy methods and the pointwise estimate techniques to deal with the singularity of solutions near the free boundary and to obtain the bounded estimates of the solutions and the free boundary as time evolves. The convergence of the difference scheme is established. It is also proved that no vacuum develops between the solid core and the free boundary, and the free boundary expands with finite speed.  相似文献

We prove the global existence of solutions of the Navier‐Stokes equations of compressible, barotropic flow in two space dimensions which exhibit convecting singularity curves. The fluid density and velocity gradient have jump discontinuities across these curves, exactly as predicted by the Rankine‐Hugoniot conditions, and these jump discontinuities decay exponentially in time, more rapidly for smaller viscosities. The singularity curves remain C1+α despite the fact that the velocity fields which convect them are not continuously differentiable. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove the global existence and asymptotic behavior, as time tends to infinity, of solutions in Hi (i=1, 2) to the initial boundary value problem of the compressible Navier–Stokes equations of one‐dimensional motion of a viscous heat‐conducting gas in a bounded region with a non‐autonomous external force and a heat source. Some new ideas and more delicate estimates are used to prove these results. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

An important problem in gas and fluid dynamics is to understand the behavior of vacuum states, namely the behavior of the system in the presence of a vacuum. In particular, physical vacuum, in which the boundary moves with a nontrivial finite normal acceleration, naturally arises in the study of the motion of gaseous stars or shallow water. Despite its importance, there are only a few mathematical results available near a vacuum. The main difficulty lies in the fact that the physical systems become degenerate along the vacuum boundary. In this paper, we establish the local‐in‐time well‐posedness of three‐dimensional compressible Euler equations for polytropic gases with a physical vacuum by considering the problem as a free boundary problem. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Existence, uniqueness and regularity of solutions of equations describing stationary flows of viscous incompressible isotropic fluids with an asymmetric stress tensor have been considered recently.5 In this paper we extend the results of Reference 5 to include heat convection in the hydrodynamic model. We show that the boundary value problem (1.1)–(1.6) below has solutions in appropriate Sobolev spaces, provided the viscosities v and ca + cd are sufficiently large. The proof is based on a fixed point argument. Moreover, we show that the solutions are unique if the heat conductivity κ is large enough.  相似文献

In this paper we prove unique solvability of the generalized Stokes resolvent equations in an infinite layer Ω0 = ℝn –1 × (–1, 1), n ≥ 2, in Lq ‐Sobolev spaces, 1 < q < ∞, with slip boundary condition of on the “upper boundary” ∂Ω+0 = ℝn –1 × {1} and non‐slip boundary condition on the “lower boundary” ∂Ω0 = ℝn –1 × {–1}. The solution operator to the Stokes system will be expressed with the aid of the solution operators of the Laplace resolvent equation and a Mikhlin multiplier operator acting on the boundary. The present result is the first step to establish an Lq ‐theory for the free boundary value problem studied by Beale [9] and Sylvester [22] in L 2‐spaces. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Summary The motion of two identical, axially symmetric coupled rigid bodies with constant linear momentum gives rise to a Hamiltonian system with a fairly large symmetry group, namely,SO(3)×S 1 ×S 1 , which in turn leads to Hamiltonian flows on reduced spaces. In this paper, we illustrate the use of equivariant symplectomorphisms and the reduction in stages procedure in determining the topology of these reduced spaces. It is shown that the reduced spaces corresponding to regular momenta are either two- or four-dimensional and, in the four-dimensional case, the reduced space gets blown up (or blown down) as the momentum value crosses the singular boundary.  相似文献

This paper deals with the existence of positive solution for impulsive boundary value problem with p‐Laplacian in Banach spaces. There is no literature researching on p‐Laplacian boundary value problem in Banach spaces. The main difficulty that appears when passing from p = 2 to p ≠ 2 is that for p ≠ 2, it is impossible for us to find a Green's function in the equivalent integral operator because the differential operator (?p(u ′ )) ′ is nonlinear, so it is difficult for us to prove that the equivalent integral operator is a strict‐set‐contraction operator. Even in the absence of pulse effect, these results are new. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a high order finite volume approximation of one‐dimensional nonlocal reactive flows of parabolic type. The method is obtained by discretizing in space by arbitrary order vertex‐centered finite volumes, followed by a modified Simpson quadrature scheme for the time stepping. Compared to the existed finite volume methods, this new finite volume scheme could achieve the desired accuracy with less data storage by employing higher‐order trial spaces. The finite volume approximations are proved to possess optimal order convergence rates in the H1‐norm and L2‐norm, which are also confirmed by numerical tests.
