Let λ be a countably additive vector measure with values in a separable real Hilbert space H. We define and study a pseudo metric on a Banach lattice of integrable functions related to λ that we call a λ-weighted distance. We compute the best approximation with respect to this distance to elements of the function space by the use of sequences with special geometric properties. The requirements on the sequence of functions are given in terms of a commutation relation between these functions that involves integration with respect to λ. We also compare the approximation that is obtained in this way with the corresponding projection on a particular Hilbert space.  相似文献

We highlight some properties of the field of values (or numerical range) W(P) of an oblique projector P on a Hilbert space, i.e., of an operator satisfying P2=P. If P is neither null nor the identity, we present a direct proof showing that W(P)=W(I-P), i.e., the field of values of an oblique projection coincides with that of its complementary projection. We also show that W(P) is an elliptical disk (i.e., the set of points circumscribed by an ellipse) with foci at 0 and 1 and eccentricity 1/‖P‖. These two results combined provide a new proof of the identity ‖P‖=‖I-P‖. We discuss the influence of the minimal canonical angle between the range and the null space of P, on the shape of W(P). In the finite dimensional case, we show a relation between the eigenvalues of matrices related to these complementary projections and present a second proof to the fact that W(P) is an elliptical disk.  相似文献

It is known that within metric spaces analyticity and K-analyticity are equivalent concepts. It is known also that non-separable weakly compactly generated (shortly WCG) Banach spaces over R or C provide concrete examples of weakly K-analytic spaces which are not weakly analytic. We study the case which totally differs from the above one. A general theorem is provided which shows that a Banach space E over a locally compact non-archimedean non-trivially valued field is weakly Lindelöf iff E is separable iff E is WCG iff E is weakly web-compact (in the sense of Orihuela). This provides a non-archimedean version of a remarkable Amir-Lindenstrauss theorem.  相似文献

When modelling dependent risks it is important to be able to generate joint distributions with given marginals. One of the ways which may be useful in connection with using the Fast Fourier Transform is to construct joint characteristic functions from marginal characteristic functions. In this paper a class of n-dimensional continuous copulas is presented which in turn lead to a simple construction of joint characteristic functions with given marginal characteristic functions. Bounds on various measures of correlation are also given.  相似文献

We define and investigate the class of symmetric and the class of semibounded de Branges spaces of entire functions. A construction is made which assigns to each symmetric de Branges space a semibounded one. By employing operator theoretic tools it is shown that every semibounded de Branges space can be obtained in this way, and which symmetric spaces give rise to the same semibounded space. Those subclasses of Hermite-Biehler functions are determined which correspond to symmetric or semibounded, respectively, nondegenerated de Branges spaces. The above assignment is determined in terms of the respective generating Hermite-Biehler functions.  相似文献

Let (H,J) be a Krein space with selfadjoint involution J. Starting with a canonical representation of a J-selfadjoint projection, J-projection in short, as the sum of a J-positive projection and a J-negative one we study in detail the structure of a regular subspace, that is, the range of a J-projection. We treat the problem when the sum of two regular subspaces is again regular. We also treat the problem when the closure of the range of the product of a J-contraction and a J-expansion becomes regular.  相似文献

Enflo (1969) [4] constructed a countable metric space that may not be uniformly embedded into any metric space of positive generalized roundness. Dranishnikov, Gong, Lafforgue and Yu (2002) [3] modified Enflo?s example to construct a locally finite metric space that may not be coarsely embedded into any Hilbert space. In this paper we meld these two examples into one simpler construction. The outcome is a locally finite metric space (Z,ζ) which is strongly non-embeddable in the sense that it may not be embedded uniformly or coarsely into any metric space of non-zero generalized roundness. Moreover, we show that both types of embedding may be obstructed by a common recursive principle. It follows from our construction that any metric space which is Lipschitz universal for all locally finite metric spaces may not be embedded uniformly or coarsely into any metric space of non-zero generalized roundness. Our construction is then adapted to show that the group Zω=0Z admits a Cayley graph which may not be coarsely embedded into any metric space of non-zero generalized roundness. Finally, for each p?0 and each locally finite metric space (Z,d), we prove the existence of a Lipschitz injection f:Z?p.  相似文献

This paper determines the exact relationships that hold among the major Paley-Wiener perturbation theorems for frame sequences. It is shown that major properties of a frame sequence such as excess, deficit, and rank remain invariant under Paley-Wiener perturbations, but need not be preserved by compact perturbations. For localized frames, which are frames with additional structure, it is shown that the frame measure function is also preserved by Paley-Wiener perturbations.  相似文献

We prove that in order for the Kuhn-Tucker or Fritz John points to be efficient solutions, it is necessary and sufficient that the non-differentiable multiobjective problem functions belong to new classes of functions that we introduce here: KT-pseudoinvex-II or FJ-pseudoinvex-II, respectively. We illustrate it by examples. These characterizations generalize recent results given for the differentiable case. We study the dual problem and establish weak, strong and converse duality results.  相似文献

We show that uniqueness and existence for signal reconstruction from multiscale edges in the Mallat and Zhong algorithm become possible if we restrict our signals to Paley-Wiener space, band-limit our wavelets, and irregularly sample at the wavelet transform (absolute) maxima—the edges—while possibly including (enough) extra points at each level. We do this in a setting that closely resembles the numerical analysis setting of Mallat and Zhong and that seems to capture something of the essence of their (practical) reconstruction method. Our work builds on a uniqueness result for reconstructing an L2 signal from irregular sampling of its wavelet transform of Grochenig and the related work of Benedetto, Heller, Mallat, and Zhong. We show that the rate of convergence for this reconstruction algorithm is geometric and computable in advance. Finally, we consider the effect on the rate of convergence of not sampling enough local maxima.  相似文献

Let H be a separable real Hilbert space. Denote by (H) the Grassmannian consisting of closed subspaces with infinite dimension and codimension. This Grassmannian is partially ordered by the inclusion relation. We show that every order preserving transformation of (H) can be extended to an automorphism of the lattice of closed subspaces of H. It follows from Mackey’s result [8] that automorphisms of this lattice are induced by invertible bounded linear operators. Dedicated to G. W.
