We consider a nonlocal delayed reaction–diffusion equation in an unbounded domain that includes some special cases arising from population dynamics. Due to the non-compactness of the spatial domain, the solution semiflow is not compact. We first show that, with respect to the compact open topology for the natural phase space, the solutions induce a compact and continuous semiflow ${\Phi}$ on a bounded and positively invariant set Y in C +?=?C([?1, 0], X +) that attracts every solution of the equation, where X + is the set of all bounded and uniformly continuous functions from ${\mathbb{R}}$ to [0, ∞). Then, to overcome the difficulty in describing the global dynamics, we establish a priori estimate for nontrivial solutions after describing the delicate asymptotic properties of the nonlocal delayed effect and the diffusion operator. The estimate enables us to show the permanence of the equation with respect to the compact open topology. With the help of the permanence, we can employ standard dynamical system theoretical arguments to establish the global attractivity of the nontrivial equilibrium. The main results are illustrated with the diffusive Nicholson’s blowfly equation and the diffusive Mackey–Glass equation.  相似文献

Suppose that K is a compact set in the open complex plane. In this paper, we prove an existence criterion for an estimate of Markov-Bernstein type for derivatives of a rational function R(z) at any fixed point z 0K. We prove that, for a fixed integer s, the estimate of the form |R (s) (z 0)| ≤ C(K, z 0, s)nR C(K), where R is an arbitrary rational function of degree n without poles on K and C is a bounded function depending on three arguments K, z 0, and s, holds if and only if the supremum $$\omega (K,z_0 ,s) = \sup \left\{ {\frac{{\operatorname{dist} (z,K)}}{{\left| {z - z_0 } \right|^{s + 1} }}} \right\}$$ over z in the complement of K is finite. Under this assumption, C is less than or equal to const ·s!ω(K, z 0, s).  相似文献

We consider an initial-boundary-value problem for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation in the complexvalued functionE=E(x,z): (1) $\partial _z E + i\Delta E + i\alpha \left| E \right|^p E + \beta \left| E \right|^q E = 0, q > p \geqslant 0, \beta > 0,$ (2) $\left. E \right|_{z = 0} = E_0 \in H^2 (\Omega ) \cap H_0^1 (\Omega ), \left. E \right|_{\partial \Omega } = 0, \Omega \subset R^2 , \partial \Omega \in C^2 .$ We investigate the behavior of the solution of problem (1)–(2) as β→0 and its closeness to the solution of the degenerate equation (β=0). Given the consistency conditionq(β)=p+εln(1/β), 00, we establish boundedness of the norm $\left\| E \right\|_{C([0,z_0 ]):H_0^1 (\Omega ))} + \left\| {\partial _z E} \right\|_{C([0,z_0 ]);L^2 (\Omega ))} $ for every finitez 0>0 as β→0. For α≤0 and a fixedq, we prove uniform (in β) boundness of solutions of problem (1)–(2) on some interval [0,Z] and their convergence as β→0 to the solution of the degenerate problem (β=0) in the normC([0,Z];L 2 (Ω)).  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the global stability and the periodic nature of solutions of the difference equation $y_{n + 1} = \frac{{\alpha + y_n^p }} {{\beta y_{n - 1}^p }} - \frac{{\gamma + y_{n - 1}^p }} {{\beta y_n^p }},n = 0,1,2,... $ where α, β, γ ∈ (0,∞), α(1 ? p) ? γ > 0, 0 < p < 1, every y n ≠ 0 for n = ?1, 0, 1, 2, … and the initial conditions y?1, y0 are arbitrary positive real numbers. We show that the equilibrium point of the difference equation is a global attractor with a basin that depends on the conditions of the coefficients.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the heat equation in the half-space ? + N with the singular potential function on the boundary, (P) $\left\{ \begin{gathered} \frac{\partial } {{\partial t}}u - \Delta u = 0\operatorname{in} \mathbb{R}_ + ^N \times (0,T), \hfill \\ \frac{\partial } {{\partial x_N }}u + \frac{\omega } {{|x|}}u = 0on\partial \mathbb{R}_ + ^N \times (0,T), \hfill \\ u(x,0) = u_0 (x) \geqslant ()0in\mathbb{R}_ + ^N , \hfill \\ \end{gathered} \right. $ where N ?? 3, ?? > 0, 0 < T ?? ??, and u 0 ?? C 0(? + N ). We prove the existence of a threshold number ?? N for the existence and the nonexistence of positive solutions of (P), which is characterized as the best constant of the Kato inequality in ? + N .  相似文献

We establish the existence of universal G-spaces for proper actions of locally compact groups on Tychonoff spaces. A typical result sounds as follows: for each infinite cardinal number τ every locally compact, non-compact, σ-compact group G of weight w(G)?τ, can act properly on Rτ?{0} such that Rτ?{0} contains a G-homeomorphic copy of every Tychonoff proper G-space of weight ?τ. The metric cones Cone(G/H) with HG a compact subgroup such that G/H is a manifold, are the main building blocks in our approach. As a byproduct we prove that the cardinality of the set of all conjugacy classes of such subgroups HG does not exceed the weight of G.  相似文献

We study holomorphic solutions f of the generalized Dhombres equation f(zf(z))=φ(f(z)), zC, where φ is in the class E of entire functions. We show, that there is a nowhere dense set E0E such that for every φE?E0, any solution f vanishes at 0 and hence, satisfies the conditions for local analytic solutions with fixed point 0 from our recent paper. Consequently, we are able to provide a characterization of solutions in the typical case where φE?E0. We also show that for polynomial φ any holomorphic solution on C?{0} can be extended to the whole of C. Using this, in special cases like φ(z)=zk+1, kN, we can provide a characterization of the analytic solutions in C.  相似文献

The present paper considers the existence of continuous roots of algebraic equations with coefficients being continuous functions defined on compact Hausdorff spaces. For a compact Hausdorff space X, C(X) denotes the Banach algebra of all continuous complex-valued functions on X with the sup norm ∥⋅. The algebra C(X) is said to be algebraically closed if each monic algebraic equation with C(X) coefficients has a root in C(X). First we study a topological characterization of a first-countable compact (connected) Hausdorff space X such that C(X) is algebraically closed. The result has been obtained by Countryman Jr, Hatori-Miura and Miura-Niijima and we provide a simple proof for metrizable spaces. Also we consider continuous approximate roots of the equation znf=0 with respect to z, where fC(X), and provide a topological characterization of compact Hausdorff space X with dimX?1 such that the above equation has an approximate root in C(X) for each fC(X), in terms of the first ?ech cohomology of X.  相似文献

We establish Strichartz estimates for the Schr?dinger equation on Riemannian manifolds (Ω, g) with boundary, for both the compact case and the case that Ω is the exterior of a smooth, non-trapping obstacle in Euclidean space. The estimates for exterior domains are scale invariant; the range of Lebesgue exponents (p, q) for which we obtain these estimates is smaller than the range known for Euclidean space, but includes the key ${L^{4}_{t}L^{\infty}_x}$ estimate, which we use to give a simple proof of well-posedness results for the energy critical Schr?dinger equation in 3 dimensions. Our estimates on compact manifolds involve a loss of derivatives with respect to the scale invariant index. We use these to establish well-posedness for finite energy data of certain semilinear Schr?dinger equations on general compact manifolds with boundary.  相似文献

If ${p(\cdot): \mathbb{R}^{n} {\rightarrow} (0,\infty), n\geq 3}$ , is globally log-Hölder continuous and its infimum p ? and its supremum p + are such that ${\frac{n}{n-1} < p^{-} \leq p^{+} < p^{-} (n-1)}$ , then the spherical maximal operator (integral averages taken with respect to the (n ? 1)-dimensional surface measure) is bounded. When n = 3, the result is then interpreted as the preservation of the integrability properties of the initial velocity of propagation to the solution of the initial-value problem for the wave equation.  相似文献
