In this paper we derive several new results involving matrix-valued radial basis functions (RBFs). We begin by introducing a class of matrix-valued RBFs which can be used to construct interpolants that are curl-free. Next, we offer a characterization of the native space for divergence-free and curl-free kernels based on the Fourier transform. Finally, we investigate the stability of the interpolation matrix for both the divergence-free and curl-free cases, and when the kernel has finite smoothness we obtain sharp estimates. Radial basis functions (RBFs) have found important applications in areas such as signal processing, medical imaging, and neural networks since the early 1980s. Several applications require that certain physical properties are satisfied by the interpolant, for example, being divergence-free in case of incompressible data. In this paper we consider a class of customized (e.g., divergence-free) RBFs that are matrix-valued and have compact support; these are matrix-valued analogues of the well-known Wendland functions. We obtain stability estimates for a wide class of interpolants based on matrix-valued RBFs, also taking into account the size of the compact support of the generating RBF. We conclude with an application based on an incompressible Navier–Stokes equation, namely the driven-cavity problem, where we use divergence-free RBFs to solve the underlying partial differential equation numerically. We discuss the impact of the size of the support of the basis function on the stability of the solution. AMS subject classification 65D05  相似文献

We consider a certain class of Herglotz-Nevanlinna matrix-valued functions which can be realized as the Weyl-Titchmarsh matrix-valued function of some symmetric operator and its self-adjoint extension. New properties of Weyl-Titchmarsh matrix-valued functions as well as a new version of the functional model for such realizations are presented. In the case of periodic Herglotz-Nevanlinna matrix-valued functions, we provide a complete characterization of their realizations in terms of the corresponding functional model. We also obtain properties of a symmetric operator and its self-adjoint extension which generate a periodic Weyl-Titchmarsh matrix-valued function. We study pairs of operators (a symmetric operator and its self-adjoint extension) with constant Weyl-Titchmarsh matrix-valued functions and establish connections between such pairs of operators and representations of the canonical commutation relations for unitary groups of operators in Weyl's form. As a consequence of such an approach, we obtain the Stone-von Neumann theorem for two unitary groups of operators satisfying the commutation relations as well as some extension and refinement of the classical functional model for generators of those groups. Our examples include multiplication operators in weighted spaces, first and second order differential operators, as well as the Schrödinger operator with linear potential and its perturbation by bounded periodic potential.  相似文献

In this paper,we introduce matrix-valued multiresolution analysis and orthogonal matrix-valued wavelets. We obtain a necessary and sufficient condition on the existence of orthogonal matrix-valued wavelets by means of paraunitary vector filter bank theory.A method for constructing a class of compactly supported orthogonal matrix-valued wavelets is proposed by using multiresolution analysis method and matrix theory.  相似文献

The method of approximate particular solutions (MAPS) was first proposed by Chen et al. in Chen, Fan, and Wen, Numer Methods Partial Differential Equations, 28 (2012), 506–522. using multiquadric (MQ) and inverse multiquadric radial basis functions (RBFs). Since then, the closed form particular solutions for many commonly used RBFs and differential operators have been derived. As a result, MAPS was extended to Matérn and Gaussian RBFs. Polyharmonic splines (PS) has rarely been used in MAPS due to its conditional positive definiteness and low accuracy. One advantage of PS is that there is no shape parameter to be taken care of. In this article, MAPS is modified so PS can be used more effectively. In the original MAPS, integrated RBFs, so called particular solutions, are used. An additional integrated polynomial basis is added when PS is used. In the modified MAPS, an additional polynomial basis is directly added to the integrated RBFs without integration. The results from the modified MAPS with PS can be improved by increasing the order of PS to a certain degree or by increasing the number of collocation points. A polynomial of degree 15 or less appeared to be working well in most of our examples. Other RBFs such as MQ can be utilized in the modified MAPS as well. The performance of the proposed method is tested on a number of examples including linear and nonlinear problems in 2D and 3D. We demonstrate that the modified MAPS with PS is, in general, more accurate than other RBFs for solving general elliptic equations.© 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper we are concerned with the hyponormality of Toeplitz operators with matrix-valued circulant symbols. We establish a necessary and sufficient condition for Toeplitz operators with matrix-valued partially circulant symbols to be hyponormal and also provide a rank formula for the self-commutator.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the vector bundle-valued Cauchy and Poisson kernel functions. We compute explicitly matrix-valued eigenfunctions of an invariant differential operator on the classical domain of Type I. Furthermore, a special choice of a vector bundle gives us a matrix-valued Cauchy and Poisson kernel function which satisfies the matrix-valued Laplacian operator on the classical domain of Type I.  相似文献

In this article, we introduce and study the matrix-valued tight wavelet frames for analyzing matrix-valued signal based on matrix-valued multiresolution analysis (MMRA). We put our emphasis on the existence of the MMRA-based matrix-valued tight wavelet frames by establishing the correspondence with their the unitary extension principle (UEP). Here in particular we introduce the square brackets product and the quasi-interpolatory operator, which makes the certificating process for UEP become relatively simple. Some interesting byproducts, such as features on the quasi-interpolatory operator 𝒫n in the matrix-valued function space case, are the critical foundation for our main work.  相似文献

We consider the propagation of wave packets for a nonlinear Schrödinger equation, with a matrix-valued potential, in the semi-classical limit. For a matrix-valued potential, Strichartz estimates are available under long range assumptions. Under these assumptions, for an initial coherent state polarized along an eigenvector, we prove that the wave function remains in the same eigenspace, at leading order, in a scaling such that nonlinear effects cannot be neglected. We also prove a nonlinear superposition principle for these nonlinear wave packets.  相似文献

We obtain matrix-valued Jost asymptotics for block Jacobi matrices under an L 1-type condition on Jacobi coefficients, and give a necessary and sufficient condition for an analytic matrix-valued function to be the Jost function of a block Jacobi matrix with exponentially converging parameters. This establishes the matrix-valued analogue of Damanik and Simon (Int. Math. Res. Not. 32:19396, 2006). The above results allow us to fully characterize the Weyl?CTitchmarsh m-functions of Jacobi matrices with exponentially converging parameters.  相似文献
