We prove a stability version of a general result that bounds the permanent of a matrix in terms of its operator norm. More specifically, suppose A is an n × n matrix over C (resp. R), and let P denote the set of n × n matrices over C (resp. R) that can be written as a permutation matrix times a unitary diagonal matrix. Then it is known that the permanent of A satisfies |per(A)| ≤ ||A|| n 2 with equality iff A/||A||2P (where ||A||2 is the operator 2-norm of A). We show a stability version of this result asserting that unless A is very close (in a particular sense) to one of these extremal matrices, its permanent is exponentially smaller (as a function of n) than ||A|| n 2. In particular, for any fixed α, β > 0, we show that |per(A)| is exponentially smaller than ||A|| n 2 unless all but at most αn rows contain entries of modulus at least ||A||2(1?β).  相似文献

We consider a self-adjoint matrix elliptic operator A ε, ε > 0, on L 2(R d ;C n ) given by the differential expression b(D)*g(x/ε)b(D). The matrix-valued function g(x) is bounded, positive definite, and periodic with respect to some lattice; b(D) is an (m × n)-matrix first order differential operator such that mn and the symbol b(ξ) has maximal rank. We study the operator cosine cos(τA ε 1/2 ), where τ ∈ R. It is shown that, as ε → 0, the operator cos(τA ε 1/2 ) converges to cos(τ(A 0)1/2) in the norm of operators acting from the Sobolev space H s (R d ;C n ) (with a suitable s) to L 2(R d ;C n ). Here A 0 is the effective operator with constant coefficients. Sharp-order error estimates are obtained. The question about the sharpness of the result with respect to the type of the operator norm is studied. Similar results are obtained for more general operators. The results are applied to study the behavior of the solution of the Cauchy problem for the hyperbolic equation ? τ 2 u ε (x, τ) = ?A ε u ε (x, τ).  相似文献

In this note we consider the homogenization problem for a matrix locally periodic elliptic operator on R d of the form A ε = ?divA(x, x/ε)?. The function A is assumed to be Hölder continuous with exponent s ∈ [0, 1] in the “slow” variable and bounded in the “fast” variable. We construct approximations for (A ε ? μ)?1, including one with a corrector, and for (?Δ) s/2(A ε ? μ)?1 in the operator norm on L 2(R d ) n . For s ≠ 0, we also give estimates of the rates of approximation.  相似文献

We consider a self-adjoint elliptic operator Aε, ε> 0, on L2(Rd; Cn) given by the differential expression b(D)*g(x/ε)b(D). Here \(b(D) = \sum\nolimits_{j = 1}^d {b_j D_j }\) is a first-order matrix differential operator such that the symbol b(ξ) has maximal rank. The matrix-valued function g(x) is bounded, positive definite, and periodic with respect to some lattice. We study the operator exponential \({e^{ - i\tau {A_\varepsilon }}}\), where τ ∈ R. It is shown that, as ε → 0, the operator \({e^{ - i\tau {A_\varepsilon }}}\) converges to \({e^{ - i\tau {A^0}}}\) in the norm of operators acting from the Sobolev space Hs(Rd;Cn) (with suitable s) to L2(Rd;Cn). Here A0 is the effective operator with constant coefficients. Order-sharp error estimates are obtained. The question about the sharpness of the result with respect to the type of the operator norm is studied. Similar results are obtained for more general operators. The results are applied to study the behavior of the solution of the Cauchy problem for the Schrödinger-type equation i?τuε(x, τ) = Aεuε(x, τ).  相似文献

We study some geometric properties associated with the t-geometric means A ?tB:= A1/2(A?1/2BA?1/2)tA1/2 of two n × n positive definite matrices A and B. Some geodesical convexity results with respect to the Riemannian structure of the n × n positive definite matrices are obtained. Several norm inequalities with geometric mean are obtained. In particular, we generalize a recent result of Audenaert (2015). Numerical counterexamples are given for some inequality questions. A conjecture on the geometric mean inequality regarding m pairs of positive definite matrices is posted.  相似文献

We consider an operator Aε on L2(\({\mathbb{R}^{{d_1}}} \times {T^{{d_2}}}\)) (d1 is positive, while d2 can be zero) given by Aε = ?div A(ε?1x1,x2)?, where A is periodic in the first variable and smooth in a sense in the second. We present approximations for (Aε ? μ)?1 and ?(Aε ? μ)?1 (with appropriate μ) in the operator norm when ε is small. We also provide estimates for the rates of approximation that are sharp with respect to the order.  相似文献

We study the linear operator pencil A(λ) = L?λV, λ ∈ ?, where L is the Sturm–Liouville operator with potential q(x) and V is the operator of multiplication by the weight ρ(x). The potential and the weight are assumed to belong to the space W 2 ?1 [0, π]. For the pencil A(λ), we seek formulas for the traces of higher negative orders, i.e., for the sums \(\sum\nolimits_{n = 1}^\infty {\lambda _n^{ - p}} \), p ≥ 2, where λn, n ∈ ?, is the sequence of eigenvalues of the pencil numbered in nondescending order of absolute values. Trace formulas in terms of the weight ρ(x) and the integral kernel of the operator L?1 are obtained, and the relationship between these formulas and the classical results about traces of integral operators is described. The theoretical results are illustrated by examples.  相似文献

We study possible values of the global dimension of endomorphism algebras of 2-term silting complexes. We show that for any algebra A whose global dimension gl.dim A ≤ 2 and any 2-term silting complex P in the bounded derived category D b (A) of A, the global dimension of \(\text {End}_{{D^b(A)}}(\mathbf {P})\) is at most 7. We also show that for each n > 2, there is an algebra A with gl.dim A = n such that D b (A) admits a 2-term silting complex P with \(\mathrm {gl. dim~}\text {End}_{{D^b(A)}}(\mathbf {P})\) infinite.  相似文献

Let D be a bounded domain in ? n (n ≥ 2) with infinitely smooth boundary ?D. We give some necessary and sufficient conditions for the Cauchy problem to be solvable in the Lebesgue space L 2(D) in D for an arbitrary differential operator A having an injective principal symbol. Furthermore, using bases with double orthogonality, we construct Carleman’s formula that restores a (vector-)function in L 2(D) from the Cauchy data given on a relatively open connected set Γ ? ?D and the values Au in D whenever the data belong to L 2(Γ) and L 2(D) respectively.  相似文献

We introduce the BMO-type space bmoρ(ω) and establish the duality between h_ρ~1(ω) and bmo _ρ(ω),where ω∈A_1~(ρ, ∞)(R~n) and ω's locally behave as Muckenhoupt's weights but actually include them. We also give the Fefferman-Stein type decomposition of bmoρ(ω) with respect to Riesz transforms associated to Schrdinger operator L, where L =-? + V is a Schrdinger operator on R~n(n≥3) and V is a non-negative function satisfying the reverse Hlder inequality.  相似文献

We consider the families of polynomials P = { P n (x)} n=0 and Q = { Q n (x)} n=0 orthogonal on the real line with respect to the respective probability measures μ and ν. We assume that { Q n (x)} n=0 and {P n (x)} n=0 are connected by linear relations. In the case k = 2, we describe all pairs (P,Q) for which the algebras A P and A Q of generalized oscillators generated by { Qn(x)} n=0 and { Pn(x)} n=0 coincide. We construct generalized oscillators corresponding to pairs (P,Q) for arbitrary k ≥ 1.  相似文献

We show that the Erdös-Kac theorem for additive arithmetical semigroups can be proved under the condition that the counting function of elements has the asymptotics G(n) = q n (A + O(1/(lnn)k) as n → ∞ with A > 0, q > 1, and arbitrary k ∈ ? and that P(n) = O(q n /n) for the number of prime elements of degree n. This improves a result of Zhang.  相似文献

We consider (in general noncoercive) mixed problems in a bounded domain D in ? n for a second-order elliptic partial differential operator A(x, ?). It is assumed that the operator is written in divergent form in D, the boundary operator B(x, ?) is the restriction of a linear combination of the function and its derivatives to ?D and the boundary of D is a Lipschitz surface. We separate a closed set Y ? ?D and control the growth of solutions near Y. We prove that the pair (A,B) induces a Fredholm operator L in suitable weighted spaces of Sobolev type, where the weight is a power of the distance to the singular set Y. Finally, we prove the completeness of the root functions associated with L.The article consists of two parts. The first part published in the present paper, is devoted to exposing the theory of the special weighted Sobolev–Slobodetskii? spaces in Lipschitz domains. We obtain theorems on the properties of these spaces; namely, theorems on the interpolation of these spaces, embedding theorems, and theorems about traces. We also study the properties of the weighted spaces defined by some (in general) noncoercive forms.  相似文献

We give a classification of all linear natural operators transforming p-vectors (i.e., skew-symmetric tensor fields of type (p, 0)) on n-dimensional manifolds M to tensor fields of type (q, 0) on TAM, where TA is a Weil bundle, under the condition that p ≥ 1, np and nq. The main result of the paper states that, roughly speaking, each linear natural operator lifting p-vectors to tensor fields of type (q, 0) on TA is a sum of operators obtained by permuting the indices of the tensor products of linear natural operators lifting p-vectors to tensor fields of type (p, 0) on TA and canonical tensor fields of type (q ? p, 0) on TA.  相似文献

For some given logarithmically convex sequence M of positive numbers we construct a subspace of the space of rapidly decreasing infinitely differentiable functions on an unbounded closed convex set in ? n . Due to the conditions on M each function of this space admits a holomorphic extension in ? n . In the current article, the space of holomorphic extensions is considered and Paley-Wiener type theorems are established. To prove these theorems, some auxiliary results on extensions of holomorphic functions satisfying some weighted L 2-bounds in a domain of holomorphy in ? n are obtained with the aid of L. Hörmander’s method of L 2-bounds for the \(\bar \partial\) operator. Also, some new facts on the Fourier-Laplace transform of tempered distributions complementing some well-known results of V.S. Vladimirov are employed.  相似文献

The Khintchine recurrence theorem asserts that in a measure preserving system, for every set A and ε > 0, we have μ(AT?nA) ≥ μ(A)2 ? ε for infinitely many nN. We show that there are systems having underrecurrent sets A, in the sense that the inequality μ(AT?nA) < μ(A)2 holds for every nN. In particular, all ergodic systems of positive entropy have under-recurrent sets. On the other hand, answering a question of V. Bergelson, we show that not all mixing systems have under-recurrent sets. We also study variants of these problems where the previous strict inequality is reversed, and deduce that under-recurrence is a much more rare phenomenon than over-recurrence. Finally, we study related problems pertaining to multiple recurrence and derive some interesting combinatorial consequences.  相似文献

In the present paper, we compute the leading term of the asymptotics of the angular eigenvalue distribution function of the problem Au = λω(x)u(x) in a bounded domain Ω ? R n , where A is an elliptic differential operator of order 2m with domain D(A) ? W m 2m (Ω). The weight function ω(x) (x ∈ Ω) is indefinite and can also take zero values on a set of positive measure.  相似文献

Let ? be a trace on the unital C*-algebra A and M ? be the ideal of the definition of the trace ?. We obtain a C*analogue of the quantum Hall effect: if P,QA are idempotents and P ? QM ? , then ?((P ? Q)2n+1) = ?(P ? Q) ∈ R for all nN. Let the isometries UA and A = A*∈ A be such that I+A is invertible and U-AM ? with ?(U-A) ∈ R. Then I-A, I?UM ? and ?(I?U) ∈ R. Let nN, dimH = 2n + 1, the symmetry operators U, VB(H), and W = U ? V. Then the operator W is not a symmetry, and if V = V*, then the operator W is nonunitary.  相似文献
