Let X ⊂ ℝ be an interval of positive length and define the set Δ = {(x, y) ∈ X × X | xy}. We give the solution of the equation
which holds for all (x, y) ∈ Δ and (u, υ) ∈ Δ, where the functions F: XX, G 1: Δ → X, G 2: Δ → X, and G: F(X, X) × F(X, X) → X are continuous and strictly monotonic in each variable. This research was supported by the Hungarian Scientific Research Fund (OTKA), grant No. T-043080.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group, let A be a group of automorphisms of G and let CG(A) denote the subgroup of fixed points of A in G. If the order of CG(A) is coprime to the number of orbits of A in G, then CG(A) is contained in the autocommutator subgroup [G, A]. The notion of class-avoiding automorphism is used to extend theorems of J. Thompson and P. Rowley. Received: 3 November 2008, Revised: 1 December 2008  相似文献

Let X be a proper hyperbolic geodesic metric space and let G be a closed subgroup of the isometry group Iso(X) of X. We show that if G is not elementary then for every p ∈ (1, ∞) the second continuous bounded cohomology group H2cb(G, Lp(G)) does not vanish. As an application, we derive some structure results for closed subgroups of Iso(X). Partially supported by Sonderforschungsbereich 611.  相似文献

We are concerned here with certain Banach algebras of operators contained within a fixed II factor N. These algebras may be thought of as noncommutative classifying spaces for the functor Ext * N The basic objects of study are the algebras A kN (for n=1, 2,...). Here, we are given an essentially unique representation of the complex Clifford algebra C k N and the elements of A k are those operators in N which exactly commute with the first k–1 generators of C k and also commute with the kth generator modulo a symmetric ideal N. Up to isomorphism, these algebras are periodic with period 2.We determine completely the homotopy types of A 1 –1 and A 2 –1 Here, A 1 –1 is homotopy equivalent to the space of (Breuer) Fredholm operators in N, while A 2 –1 is homotopy equivalent to the group K N –1 ={x N–1¦ x=1+k, k KN}. We use these results to compute the K-theory of A 1 and A 2.For a fixed C *-algebra A, we define abelian groups G k,N(A) of equivalence classes of homomorphisms AA k. Letting N = M (H) for a II1 factor M we define similar abelian groups G k(A, M) where we replace N by L(E) for countably generated right Hilbert M-modules E with (left) actions C k L(E). Using ideas of Skandalis, we show that G k,NGk(A, M) so that the G k,N are stable half-exact homotopy functors because the G k(·, M) are such.In general, we show that G k(A, M)KK k(A, M) and so our theory fits neatly into Kasparov KK-theory. We investigate many interesting examples from our point of view.  相似文献

Let T be a locally compact Hausdorff space and let C 0(T) be the Banach space of all complex valued continuous functions vanishing at infinity in T, provided with the supremum norm. Let X be a quasicomplete locally convex Hausdorff space. A simple proof of the theorem on regular Borel extension of X-valued -additive Baire measures on T is given, which is more natural and direct than the existing ones. Using this result the integral representation and weak compactness of a continuous linear map u: C 0(T) X when c 0 X are obtained. The proof of the latter result is independent of the use of powerful results such as Theorem 6 of [6] or Theorem 3 (vii) of [13].  相似文献

In this paper, we study a tower {A n G: n} ≥ 1 of finite-dimensional algebras; here, G represents an arbitrary finite group,d denotes a complex parameter, and the algebraA n G(d) has a basis indexed by ‘G-stable equivalence relations’ on a set whereG acts freely and has 2n orbits. We show that the algebraA n G(d) is semi-simple for all but a finite set of values ofd, and determine the representation theory (or, equivalently, the decomposition into simple summands) of this algebra in the ‘generic case’. Finally we determine the Bratteli diagram of the tower {A n G(d): n} ≥ 1 (in the generic case).  相似文献

As the main result, we show that if G is a finite group such that Γ(G) = Γ(2 F 4(q)), where q = 22m+1 for some m ≧ 1, then G has a unique nonabelian composition factor isomorphic to 2 F 4(q). We also show that if G is a finite group satisfying |G| =|2 F 4(q)| and Γ(G) = Γ(2 F 4(q)), then G2 F 4(q). As a consequence of our result we give a new proof for a conjecture of W. Shi and J. Bi for 2 F 4(q). The third author was supported in part by a grant from IPM (No. 87200022).  相似文献

This paper provides universal upper bounds for the exponent of the kernel and of the cokernel of the classical Boardman homomorphism b n : π n (X)→H n (H;ℤ), from the cohomotopy groups to the ordinary integral cohomology groups of a spectrum X, and of its various generalizations π n (X)→E n (X), F n (X)→(EF) n (X), F n (X)→H n (X;π 0 F) and F n (X)→H n+t (X;π t F) for other cohomology theories E *(−) and F *(−). These upper bounds do not depend on X and are given in terms of the exponents of the stable homotopy groups of spheres and, for the last three homomorphisms, in terms of the order of the Postnikov invariants of the spectrum F.  相似文献

A distribution function F on the nonnegative real line is called subexponential if limx(1-F *n (x)/(1 - F(x)) = n for all n 2, where F *n denotes the nfold Stieltjes convolution of F with itself. In this paper, we consider the rate of convergence in the above definition and in its density analogue. Among others we discuss the asymptotic behavior of the remainder term R n (x) defined by R n (x) = 1 - F*n(x) - n(1 - F(x)) and of its density analogue rn (x) = -(Rn (x))'. Our results complement and complete those obtained by several authors. In an earlier paper, we obtained results of the form n(x) = O(1)f(x)R(x), where f is the density of F and R(x) = 0 x (1-F(y))dy. In this paper, among others we obtain asymptotic expressions of the form R n(x)= 2 n R2(x) + O(1)(-f'(x))R2(x) where f' is the derivative of f.  相似文献

A map f:XY between topological spaces is defined to be scatteredly continuous if for each subspace AX the restriction f|A has a point of continuity. We show that for a function f:XY from a perfectly paracompact hereditarily Baire Preiss–Simon space X into a regular space Y the scattered continuity of f is equivalent to (i) the weak discontinuity (for each subset AX the set D(f|A) of discontinuity points of f|A is nowhere dense in A), (ii) the piecewise continuity (X can be written as a countable union of closed subsets on which f is continuous), (iii) the Gδ-measurability (the preimage of each open set is of type Gδ). Also under Martin Axiom, we construct a Gδ-measurable map f:XY between metrizable separable spaces, which is not piecewise continuous. This answers an old question of V. Vinokurov.  相似文献

We define a multifunction F: XY to be upper (lower) D*-supercontinuous if F +(V) (F (V)) is d*-open in X for every open set V of Y. We obtain some characterizations and several properties concerning upper (lower) D*-supercontinuous multifunctions.   相似文献

In this work we study the problem of the existence of bifurcation in the solution set of the equation F(x, λ)=0, where F: X×R k →Y is a C 2-smooth operator, X and Y are Banach spaces such that XY. Moreover, there is given a scalar product 〈·,·〉: Y×Y→R 1 that is continuous with respect to the norms in X and Y. We show that under some conditions there is bifurcation at a point (0, λ0)∈X×R k and we describe the solution set of the studied equation in a small neighbourhood of this point.  相似文献

For any given vector field X defined on some open set M 2, we characterize the prolongations X n * of X to the nth jet space M (n), n1, such that a complete system of invariants for X n * can be obtained by derivation of lower-order invariants. This leads to characterizations of C -symmetries and to new procedures for reducing the order of an ordinary differential equation.  相似文献

In two-dimensional lattice spin systems in which the spins take values in a finite group G, one can define a field algebra F which carries an action of a Hopf algebra D(G), the double algebra of G and moreover, an action of D(G;H), which is a subalgebra of D(G) determined by a subgroup H of G, so that F becomes a modular algebra. The concrete construction of D(G;H)-invariant subspace A H in F is given. By constructing the quasi-basis of conditional expectation γ G of A H onto A G , the C*-index of γ G is exactly the index of H in G.  相似文献

Let G be a group, let A be an Abelian group, and let n be an integer such that n –1. In the paper, the sets n (G,A) of functions from G into A of degree not greater than n are studied. In essence, these sets were introduced by Logachev, Sal'nikov, and Yashchenko. We describe all cases in which any function from G into A is of bounded (or not necessarily bounded) finite degree. Moreover, it is shown that if G is finite, then the study of the set n (G,A) is reduced to that of the set n(G/O p (G),A p ) for primes p dividing G/G. Here O p (G) stands for the p-coradical of the group G, A p for the p-component of A, and G for the commutator subgroup of G.  相似文献

Let G be a digraph with vertex set V(G) and arc set E(G) and let g = (g , g +) and ƒ = (ƒ , ƒ +) be pairs of positive integer-valued functions defined on V(G) such that g (x) ⩽ ƒ (x) and g +(x) ⩽ ƒ +(x) for each xV(G). A (g, ƒ)-factor of G is a spanning subdigraph H of G such that g (x) ⩽ id H (x) ⩽ ƒ (x) and g +(x) ⩽ od H (x) ⩽ ƒ +(x) for each xV(H); a (g, ƒ)-factorization of G is a partition of E(G) into arc-disjoint (g, ƒ)-factors. Let = {F 1, F 2,…, F m} and H be a factorization and a subdigraph of G, respectively. is called k-orthogonal to H if each F i , 1 ⩽ im, has exactly k arcs in common with H. In this paper it is proved that every (mg+m−1,m+1)-digraph has a (g, f)-factorization k-orthogonal to any given subdigraph with km arcs if k ⩽ min{g (x), g +(x)} for any xV(G) and that every (mg, mf)-digraph has a (g, f)-factorization orthogonal to any given directed m-star if 0 ⩽ g(x) ⩽ f(x) for any xV(G). The results in this paper are in some sense best possible.   相似文献

Abstract

Let A be a commutative ring with identity, let X, Y be indeterminates and let F(X,Y), G(X, Y) ∈ A[X, Y] be homogeneous. Then the pair F(X, Y), G(X, Y) is said to be radical preserving with respect to A if Rad((F(x, y), G(x, y))R) = Rad((x,y)R) for each A-algebra R and each pair of elements x, y in R. It is shown that infinite sequences of pairwise radical preserving polynomials can be obtained by homogenizing cyclotomic polynomials, and that under suitable conditions on a ?-graded ring A these can be used to produce an infinite set of homogeneous prime ideals between two given homogeneous prime ideals P ? Q of A such that ht(Q/P) = 2.  相似文献

For a, α > 0 let E(a, α) be the set of all compact operators A on a separable Hilbert space such that s n (A) = O(exp(-anα)), where s n (A) denotes the n-th singular number of A. We provide upper bounds for the norm of the resolvent (zIA)−1 of A in terms of a quantity describing the departure from normality of A and the distance of z to the spectrum of A. As a consequence we obtain upper bounds for the Hausdorff distance of the spectra of two operators in E(a, α).   相似文献
