On Towers Approximating Homological Localizations   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Our object of study is the natural tower which, for any givenmap f:AB and each space X, starts with the localization of Xwith respect to f and converges to X itself. These towers canbe used to produce approximations to localization with respectto any generalized homology theory E*, yielding, for example,an analogue of Quillen's plus-construction for E*. We discussin detail the case of ordinary homology with coefficients inZ/p or Z[1/p]. Our main tool is a comparison theorem for nullificationfunctors (that is, localizations with respect to maps of theform f:Apt), which allows us, among other things, to generalizeNeisendorfer's observation that p-completion of simply-connectedspaces coincides with nullification with respect to a Moorespace M(Z[1/p], 1).  相似文献

We study the bar spectral sequence converging toh *(SO(2n+1)), whereh is an algebra theory overBP. The differentials are determined completely ifh=P(l) andn<2 l . These results will be used in a future paper on the MoravaK-theories ofSO(2n+1), with no restriction onn. As another application, we determineBP *(Spin(7)) including much of its algebra structure.AMS Subject Classification: 57T10, 57T30, 55N22  相似文献

Given a non-atomic, finite and complete measure space (,,µ)and a Banach space X, the modulus of continuity for a vectormeasure F is defined as the function F(t) = supµ(E)t |F|(E)and the space Vp,q(X) of vector measures such that t–1/p'F(t) Lq((0,µ()],dt/t) is introduced. It is shown thatVp,q(X) contains isometrically Lp,q(X) and that Lp,q(X) = Vp,q(X)if and only if X has the Radon–Nikodym property. It isalso proved that Vp,q(X) coincides with the space of cone absolutelysumming operators from Lp',q' into X and the duality Vp,q(X*)=(Lp',q'(X))*where 1/p+1/p'= 1/q+1/q' = 1. Finally, Vp,q(X) is identifiedwith the interpolation space obtained by the real method (V1(X),V(X))1/p',q. Spaces where the variation of F is replaced bythe semivariation are also considered.  相似文献

Higher string topology on general spaces   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper, I give a generalized analogue of the string topologyresults of Chas and Sullivan, and of Cohen and Jones. For afinite simplicial complex X and k 1, I construct a spectrumMaps(Sk, X)S(X), which is obtained by taking a generalizationof the Spivak bundle on X (which however is not a stable spherebundle unless X is a Poincaré space), pulling back toMaps(Sk, X) and quotienting out the section at infinity. I showthat the corresponding chain complex is naturally homotopy equivalentto an algebra over the (k + 1)-dimensional unframed little diskoperad Ck + 1. I also prove a conjecture of Kontsevich, whichstates that the Quillen cohomology of a based Ck-algebra (inthe category of chain complexes) is equivalent to a shift ofits Hochschild cohomology, as well as prove that the operadC*Ck is Koszul-dual to itself up to a shift in the derived category. This gives one a natural notion of (derived) Koszul dual C*Ck-algebras.I show that the cochain complex of X and the chain complex ofk X are Koszul dual to each other as C*Ck-algebras, and thatthe chain complex of Maps(Sk, X)S(X) is naturally equivalentto their (equivalent) Hochschild cohomology in the categoryof C* Ck-algebras. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification 55P48(primary), 16E40, 55N45, 18D50 (secondary).  相似文献

Let be a coaction of a locally compact group G on a C*-algebraA. We show that if I is a -invariant ideal in A, then for full crossed products, as Landstadet al. have done for spatial crossed products by coactions. We prove that for suitable coactions, the crossed products ofC0(X)-algebras are again C0(X)-algebras, and the crossed productsof continuous C*-bundles by a locally compact group are againcontinuous C*-bundles. 1991 Mathematics Subject Classification46L55.  相似文献

An element a of norm one in a JB*-triple A is said to be smoothif there exists a unique element x in the unit ball A1* of thedual A* of A at which a attains its norm, and is said to beFréchet-smooth if, in addition, any sequence (xn) ofelements in A1* for which (xn(a)) converges to one necessarilyconverges in norm to x. The sequence (a2n+1) of odd powers ofa converges in the weak*-topology to a tripotent u(a) in theJBW*-envelope A** of A. It is shown that a is smooth if andonly if u(a) is a minimal tripotent in A** and a is Fréchet-smoothif and only if, in addition, u(a) lies in A.  相似文献

We introduce a numerical radius operator space (X, Wn). Theconditions to be a numerical radius operator space are weakerthan Ruan's axiom for an operator space (X, On). Let w(·)be the numerical radius on B(H). It is shown that, if X admitsa norm Wn(·) on the matrix space Mn(X) which satisfiesthe conditions, then there is a complete isometry, in the senseof the norms Wn(·) and wn(·), from (X, Wn) into(B(H), wn). We study the relationship between the operator space(X, On) and the numerical radius operator space (X, Wn). Thecategory of operator spaces can be regarded as a subcategoryof numerical radius operator spaces.  相似文献

Lie Powers of Modules for Groups of Prime Order   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Let L(V) be the free Lie algebra on a finite-dimensional vectorspace V over a field K, with homogeneous components Ln(V) forn 1. If G is a group and V is a KG-module, the action of Gextends naturally to L(V), and the Ln(V) become finite-dimensionalKG-modules, called the Lie powers of V. In the decompositionproblem, the aim is to identify the isomorphism types of indecomposableKG-modules, with their multiplicities, in unrefinable directdecompositions of the Lie powers. This paper is concerned withthe case where G has prime order p, and K has characteristicp. As is well known, there are p indecomposables, denoted hereby J1,...,Jp, where Jr has dimension r. A theory is developedwhich provides information about the overall module structureof LV) and gives a recursive method for finding the multiplicitiesof J1,...,Jp in the Lie powers Ln(V). For example, the theoryyields decompositions of L(V) as a direct sum of modules isomorphiceither to J1 or to an infinite sum of the form Jr J{p-1} J{p-1} ... with r 2. Closed formulae are obtained for the multiplicitiesof J1,..., Jp in Ln(Jp and Ln(J{p-1). For r < p-1, the indecomposableswhich occur with non-zero multiplicity in Ln(Jr) are identifiedfor all sufficiently large n. 2000 Mathematical Subject Classification:17B01, 20C20.  相似文献
