Four generalized algorithms builded up from Ostrowski’s method for solving systems of nonlinear equations are written and analyzed. A development of an inverse first-order divided difference operator for functions of several variables is presented, as well as a direct computation of the local order of convergence for these variants of Ostrowski’s method. Furthermore, a sequence that approximates the order of convergence is generated for the examples and it confirms in a numerical way that the order of the methods is well deduced.  相似文献

The development of an inverse first-order divided difference operator for functions of several variables, as well as a direct computation of the local order of convergence of an iterative method is presented. A generalized algorithm of the secant method for solving a system of nonlinear equations is studied and the maximum computational efficiency is computed. Furthermore, a sequence that approximates the order of convergence is generated for the examples and it confirms in a numerical way that the order of the methods is well deduced.  相似文献

We study an iterative method with order for solving nonlinear operator equations in Banach spaces. Algorithms for specific operator equations are built up. We present the received new results of the local and semilocal convergence, in case when the first-order divided differences of a nonlinear operator are Hölder continuous. Moreover a quadratic nonlinear majorant for a nonlinear operator, according to the conditions laid upon it, is built. A priori and a posteriori estimations of the method’s error are received. The method needs almost the same number of computations as the classical Secant method, but has a higher order of convergence. We apply our results to the numerical solving of a nonlinear boundary value problem of second-order and to the systems of nonlinear equations of large dimension.  相似文献

A few variants of the secant method for solving nonlinear equations are analyzed and studied. In order to compute the local order of convergence of these iterative methods a development of the inverse operator of the first order divided differences of a function of several variables in two points is presented using a direct symbolic computation. The computational efficiency and the approximated computational order of convergence are introduced and computed choosing the most efficient method among the presented ones. Furthermore, we give a technique in order to estimate the computational cost of any iterative method, and this measure allows us to choose the most efficient among them.  相似文献

A local convergence analysis of Newton’s method for solving nonlinear equations, under a majorant condition, is presented in this paper. Without assuming convexity of the derivative of the majorant function, which relaxes the Lipschitz condition on the operator under consideration, convergence, the biggest range for uniqueness of the solution, the optimal convergence radius and results on the convergence rate are established. Besides, two special cases of the general theory are presented as applications.  相似文献

In the present paper, by approximating the derivatives in the well known fourth-order Ostrowski’s method and in a sixth-order improved Ostrowski’s method by central-difference quotients, we obtain new modifications of these methods free from derivatives. We prove the important fact that the methods obtained preserve their convergence orders 4 and 6, respectively, without calculating any derivatives. Finally, numerical tests confirm the theoretical results and allow us to compare these variants with the corresponding methods that make use of derivatives and with the classical Newton’s method.  相似文献

In this paper a zero-finding technique for solving nonlinear equations more efficiently than they usually are with traditional iterative methods in which the order of convergence is improved is presented. The key idea in deriving this procedure is to compose a given iterative method with a modified Newton’s method that introduces just one evaluation of the function. To carry out this procedure some classical methods with different orders of convergence are used to obtain new methods that can be generalized in Banach spaces.  相似文献

In this paper we consider constructing some higher-order modifications of Newton’s method for solving nonlinear equations which increase the order of convergence of existing iterative methods by one or two or three units. This construction can be applied to any iteration formula, and per iteration the resulting methods add only one additional function evaluation to increase the order. Some illustrative examples are provided and several numerical results are given to show the performance of the presented methods.  相似文献

This paper concerns developing a numerical method of the Newton type to solve systems of nonlinear equations described by nonsmooth continuous functions. We propose and justify a new generalized Newton algorithm based on graphical derivatives, which have never been used to derive a Newton-type method for solving nonsmooth equations. Based on advanced techniques of variational analysis and generalized differentiation, we establish the well-posedness of the algorithm, its local superlinear convergence, and its global convergence of the Kantorovich type. Our convergence results hold with no semismoothness and Lipschitzian assumptions, which is illustrated by examples. The algorithm and main results obtained in the paper are compared with well-recognized semismooth and B-differentiable versions of Newton’s method for nonsmooth Lipschitzian equations.  相似文献

A derivative-free residual method for solving nonlinear operator equations in real Hilbert spaces is discussed. This method uses in a systematic way the residual as search direction, but it does not use first order information. Furthermore a convergence analysis and numerical results of the new method applied to nonlinear integral equations using symbolic computation are presented.  相似文献

Jacobian smoothing Brown’s method for nonlinear complementarity problems (NCP) is studied in this paper. This method is a generalization of classical Brown’s method. It belongs to the class of Jacobian smoothing methods for solving semismooth equations. Local convergence of the proposed method is proved in the case of a strictly complementary solution of NCP. Furthermore, a locally convergent hybrid method for general NCP is introduced. Some numerical experiments are also presented.  相似文献

We consider the numerical pricing of American options under Heston’s stochastic volatility model. The price is given by a linear complementarity problem with a two-dimensional parabolic partial differential operator. We propose operator splitting methods for performing time stepping after a finite difference space discretization. The idea is to decouple the treatment of the early exercise constraint and the solution of the system of linear equations into separate fractional time steps. With this approach an efficient numerical method can be chosen for solving the system of linear equations in the first fractional step before making a simple update to satisfy the early exercise constraint. Our analysis suggests that the Crank–Nicolson method and the operator splitting method based on it have the same asymptotic order of accuracy. The numerical experiments show that the operator splitting methods have comparable discretization errors. They also demonstrate the efficiency of the operator splitting methods when a multigrid method is used for solving the systems of linear equations.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to study the local convergence of the four order iteration of Euler's family for solving nonlinear operator equations. We get the optimal radius of the local convergence ball of the method for operators satisfying the weak third order generalized Lipschitz condition with L-average. We also show that the local convergence of the method is determined by a period 2 orbit of the method itself applied to a real function.  相似文献

Abstract

In recent years, fitted operator finite difference methods (FOFDMs) have been developed for numerous types of singularly perturbed ordinary differential equations. The construction of most of these methods differed though the final outcome remained similar. The most crucial aspect was how the difference operator was designed to approximate the differential operator in question. Very often the approaches for constructing these operators had limited scope in the sense that it was difficult to extend them to solve even simple one-dimensional singularly perturbed partial differential equations. However, in some of our most recent work, we have successfully designed a class of FOFDMs and extended them to solve singularly perturbed time-dependent partial differential equations. In this paper, we design and analyze a robust FOFDM to solve a system of coupled singularly perturbed parabolic reaction-diffusion equations. We use the backward Euler method for the semi-discretization in time. An FOFDM is then developed to solve the resulting set of boundary value problems. The proposed method is analyzed for convergence. Our method is uniformly convergent with order one and two, respectively, in time and space, with respect to the perturbation parameters. Some numerical experiments supporting the theoretical investigations are also presented.  相似文献

For solving systems of nonlinear equations, we have recently developed a Newton’s method to manage issues with inaccurate function values or problems with high computational cost. In this work we introduce a modification of the above method, reducing the total computational cost and improving, in general, its overall performance. Moreover, the proposed version retains the quadratic convergence, the good behavior over singular and ill-conditioned cases of Jacobian matrix, and its capability to be ideal for imprecise function problems. Numerical results demonstrate the efficiency of the new proposed method.  相似文献

We present a fully implicit finite difference method for the unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. It is based on the one-step θ-method for discretization in time and a special coordinate splitting (called vectorial operator splitting) for efficiently solving the nonlinear stationary problems for the solution at each new time level. The resulting system is solved in a fully coupled approach that does not require a boundary condition for the pressure. A staggered arrangement of velocity and pressure on a structured Cartesian grid combined with the fully implicit treatment of the boundary conditions helps us to preserve the properties of the differential operators and thus leads to excellent stability of the overall algorithm. The convergence properties of the method are confirmed via numerical experiments.  相似文献

Inexact implicit methods for monotone general variational inequalities   总被引:32,自引:0,他引:32
Solving a variational inequality problem is equivalent to finding a solution of a system of nonsmooth equations. Recently, we proposed an implicit method, which solves monotone variational inequality problem via solving a series of systems of nonlinear smooth (whenever the operator is smooth) equations. It can exploit the facilities of the classical Newton–like methods for smooth equations. In this paper, we extend the method to solve a class of general variational inequality problems Moreover, we improve the implicit method to allow inexact solutions of the systems of nonlinear equations at each iteration. The method is shown to preserve the same convergence properties as the original implicit method. Received July 31, 1995 / Revised version received January 15, 1999? A necessary condition for a (non-autonomous) ordinary differential equation to be exactly solved by a one-step, finite difference method is that the principal term of its local truncation error be null. A procedure to determine some ordinary differential equations exactly solved by a given numerical scheme is developed. Examples of differential equations exactly solved by the explicit Euler, implicit Euler, trapezoidal rule, second-order Taylor, third-order Taylor, van Niekerk’s second-order rational, and van Niekerk’s third-order rational methods are presented.  相似文献

The geometrical interpretation of a family of higher order iterative methods for solving nonlinear scalar equations was presented in [S. Amat, S. Busquier, J.M. Gutiérrez, Geometric constructions of iterative functions to solve nonlinear equations. J. Comput. Appl. Math. 157(1) (2003) 197-205]. This family includes, as particular cases, some of the most famous third-order iterative methods: Chebyshev methods, Halley methods, super-Halley methods, C-methods and Newton-type two-step methods. The aim of the present paper is to analyze the convergence of this family for equations defined between two Banach spaces by using a technique developed in [J.A. Ezquerro, M.A. Hernández, Halley’s method for operators with unbounded second derivative. Appl. Numer. Math. 57(3) (2007) 354-360]. This technique allows us to obtain a general semilocal convergence result for these methods, where the usual conditions on the second derivative are relaxed. On the other hand, the main practical difficulty related to the classical third-order iterative methods is the evaluation of bilinear operators, typically second-order Fréchet derivatives. However, in some cases, the second derivative is easy to evaluate. A clear example is provided by the approximation of Hammerstein equations, where it is diagonal by blocks. We finish the paper by applying our methods to some nonlinear integral equations of this type.  相似文献

The improved iterative method of Newton’s type for the simultaneous inclusion of all simple complex zeros of a polynomial is proposed. The presented convergence analysis, which uses the concept of the R-order of convergence of mutually dependent sequences, shows that the convergence rate of the basic third order method is increased from 3 to 6 using Ostrowski’s corrections. The new inclusion method with Ostrowski’s corrections is more efficient compared to all existing methods belonging to the same class. To demonstrate the convergence properties of the proposed method, two numerical examples are given.  相似文献
