A subgroup H is called ?-supplemented in a finite group G, if there exists a subgroup B of G such that G = HB and H 1 B is a proper subgroup of G for every maximal subgroup H 1 of H. We investigate the influence of ?-supplementation of Sylow subgroups and obtain a condition for solvability and p-supersolvability of finite groups.  相似文献

A subgroup H of a group G is called µ-supplemented in G if there exists a subgroup K such that G = HK and H 1 K is a proper subgroup in G for every maximal subgroup H 1 in H. Let P be a subgroup of a Sylow subgroup of a finite group G. If P is a Sylow subgroup of some normal subgroup of G then P is called normally embedded in G. We establish tests for a finite group G to be p-supersoluble provided that every maximal subgroup of a Sylow p-subgroup of X is normally embedded in G. We study the cases when X is a normal subgroup of G, X = Op',p(H), and X = F*(H) where H is a normal subgroup of G.  相似文献

It is proved that, if G is a finite group that has the same set of element orders as the simple group D p (q), where p is prime, p ≥ 5 and q ∈ {2, 3, 5}, then the commutator group of G/F(G) is isomorphic to D p (q), the subgroup F(G) is equal to 1 for q = 5 and to O q (G) for q ∈ {2, 3}, F(G) ≤ G′, and |G/G′| ≤ 2.  相似文献

We show that if for every prime p, the normalizer of a Sylow p-subgroup of a finite group G admits a p-solvable supplement, then G is solvable. This generalizes a solvability criterion of Hall which asserts that a finite group G is solvable if and only if G has a Hall p′-subgroup for every prime p.  相似文献

A subgroup K of G is Mp-supplemented in G if there exists a subgroup B of G such that G = KB and TB < G for every maximal subgroup T of K with |K: T| = pα. In this paper we prove the following: Let p be a prime divisor of |G| and let H be ap-nilpotent subgroup having a Sylow p-subgroup of G. Suppose that H has a subgroup D with Dp ≠ 1 and |H: D| = pα. Then G is p-nilpotent if and only if every subgroup T of H with |T| = |D| is Mp-supplemented in G and NG(Tp)/CG(Tp) is a p-group.  相似文献

H is called an ? p -embedded subgroup of G, if there exists a p-nilpotent subgroup B of G such that H p ∈ Syl p (B) and B is ? p -supplemented in G. In this paper, by considering prime divisor 3, 5, or 7, we use ? p -embedded property of primary subgroups to investigate the solvability of finite groups. The main result is follows. Let E be a normal subgroup of G, and let P be a Sylow 5-subgroup of E. Suppose that 1 < d ? |P| and d divides |P|. If every subgroup H of P with |H| = d is ?5-embedded in G, then every composition factor of E satisfies one of the following conditions: (1) I/C is cyclic of order 5, (2) I/C is 5′-group, (3) I/C ? A subgroup H of a group G is called pronormal if, for any element gG, the subgroups H and H g are conjugate in the subgroup <H,H g >. We prove that, if a group G has a normal abelian subgroup V and a subgroup H such that G = HV, then H is pronormal in G if and only if U = N U (H)[H,U] for any H-invariant subgroup U of V. Using this fact, we prove that the simple symplectic group PSp6n (q) with q ≡ ±3 (mod 8) contains a nonpronormal subgroup of odd index. Hence, we disprove the conjecture on the pronormality of subgroups of odd indices in finite simple groups, which was formulated in 2012 by E.P. Vdovin and D.O. Revin and verified by the authors in 2015 for many families of simple finite groups.  相似文献

Let G be a nonabelian group, and associate the noncommuting graph ?(G) with G as follows: the vertex set of ?(G) is G\Z(G) with two vertices x and y joined by an edge whenever the commutator of x and y is not the identity. A subgroup H of a finite group G is said to be S-quasinormally embedded in G if for each prime p dividing the order of H, a Sylow p-subgroup of H is also a Sylow p-subgroup of some S-quasinormal subgroup of G. In this paper we investigate the structure of finite groups that have some S-quasinormally embedded subgroups of prime-power order, and new criteria for p-nilpotency are obtained.  相似文献

We study finite groups with the following property (*): All subgroups of odd index are pronormal. Suppose that G has a normal subgroup A with property (*), and the Sylow 2-subgroups of G/A are self-normalizing. We prove that G has property (*) if and only if so does NG(T)/T, where T is a Sylow 2-subgroup of A. This leads to a few results that can be used for the classification of finite simple groups with property (*).  相似文献

Let G be a finite group and let σ = {σ i | iI} be a partition of the set of all primes P. A set ? of subgroups of G is said to be a complete Hall σ-set of G if each nonidentity member of ? is a Hall σ i -subgroup of G and ? has exactly one Hall σ i -subgroup of G for every σ i σ(G). A subgroup H of G is said to be σ-permutable in G if G possesses a complete Hall σ-set ? such that HA x = A x H for all A ∈ ? and all xG. A subgroup H of G is said to be weakly σ-permutable in G if there exists a σ-subnormal subgroup T of G such that G = HT and HTH σG , where H σG is the subgroup of H generated by all those subgroups of H which are σ-permutable in G. We study the structure of G under the condition that some given subgroups of G are weakly σ-permutable in G. In particular, we give the conditions under which a normal subgroup of G is hypercyclically embedded. Some available results are generalized.  相似文献

A subgroup H of a group G is pronormal if the subgroups H and H g are conjugate in 〈H,H g 〉 for every gG. It was conjectured in [1] that a subgroup of a finite simple group having odd index is always pronormal. Recently the authors [2] verified this conjecture for all finite simple groups other than PSL n (q), PSU n (q), E 6(q), 2 E 6(q), where in all cases q is odd and n is not a power of 2, and P Sp2n (q), where q ≡ ±3 (mod 8). However in [3] the authors proved that when q ≡ ±3 (mod 8) and n ≡ 0 (mod 3), the simple symplectic group P Sp2n (q) has a nonpronormal subgroup of odd index, thereby refuted the conjecture on pronormality of subgroups of odd index in finite simple groups.The natural extension of this conjecture is the problem of classifying finite nonabelian simple groups in which every subgroup of odd index is pronormal. In this paper we continue to study this problem for the simple symplectic groups P Sp2n (q) with q ≡ ±3 (mod 8) (if the last condition is not satisfied, then subgroups of odd index are pronormal). We prove that whenever n is not of the form 2 m or 2 m (22k +1), this group has a nonpronormal subgroup of odd index. If n = 2 m , then we show that all subgroups of P Sp2n (q) of odd index are pronormal. The question of pronormality of subgroups of odd index in P Sp2n (q) is still open when n = 2 m (22k + 1) and q ≡ ±3 (mod 8).  相似文献

Let π be a set of primes. A subgroup H of a finite group G is said to be π-S-permutable in G if H permutes with every Sylow q-subgroup of G for all primes qπ. The main aim of this paper is to establish structural results about the normal closure of π-S-permutable subgroups and p-subgroups permuting with all p′-subgroups for a single prime p. Our results stem from a recent article by Isaacs [5] and subsequent discussions with the authors about it.  相似文献

Let \(\mathcal{F}\) be a class of groups and G a finite group. We call a set Σ of subgroups of G a G-covering subgroup system for  \(\mathcal{F}\) if \(G\in \mathcal{F}\) whenever \(\Sigma \subseteq \mathcal{F}\). Let p be any prime dividing |G| and P a Sylow p-subgroup of G. Then we write Σ p to denote the set of subgroups of G which contains at least one supplement to G of each maximal subgroup of P. We prove that the sets Σ p and Σ p ∪Σ q , where qp, are G-covering subgroup systems for many classes of finite groups.  相似文献

We study the blow-up and/or global existence of the following p-Laplacian evolution equation with variable source power

where Ω is either a bounded domain or the whole space ? N , q(x) is a positive and continuous function defined in Ω with 0 < q ? = inf q(x) ? q(x) ? sup q(x) = q+ < ∞. It is demonstrated that the equation with variable source power has much richer dynamics with interesting phenomena which depends on the interplay of q(x) and the structure of spatial domain Ω, compared with the case of constant source power. For the case that Ω is a bounded domain, the exponent p ? 1 plays a crucial role. If q+ > p ? 1, there exist blow-up solutions, while if q + < p ? 1, all the solutions are global. If q ? > p ? 1, there exist global solutions, while for given q ? < p ? 1 < q +, there exist some function q(x) and Ω such that all nontrivial solutions will blow up, which is called the Fujita phenomenon. For the case Ω = ? N , the Fujita phenomenon occurs if 1 < q ? ? q + ? p ? 1 + p/N, while if q ? > p ? 1 + p/N, there exist global solutions.

For the system of root functions of an operator defined by the differential operation ?u″ + p(x)u′ + q(x)u, xG = (0, 1), with complex-valued singular coefficients, sufficient conditions for the Bessel property in the space L2(G) are obtained and a theorem on the unconditional basis property is proved. Consider some finite group G and a finite subgroup H of G. Say that H is c-quasinormal in G if G has a quasinormal subgroup T such that HT = G and TH is quasinormal in G. Given a noncyclic Sylow subgroup P of G, we fix some subgroup D such that 1 < |D| < | P| and study the structure of G under the assumption that all subgroups H of P of the same order as D, having no supersolvable supplement in G, are c-quasinormal in G.  相似文献
