The diffraction of plane surface gravitational waves by the edge of an ice cover lying on the surface of an incompressible fluid of infinitely great depth is considered. The ice cover is simulated by a thin elastic plate. The wave reflection and transmission coefficients are determined when it interacts with the ice cover. A wave field is constructed in the fluid under the conditions that a periodic lumped force and a lumped moment act on the edge of the ice cover. It is shown that as the incident wavelength increases the reflection coefficient tends to zero and the transmission coefficient tends to unity.  相似文献

An elastic plate is located on the surface of a liquid, in continuous contact with it and rigidly clamped in a support along a certain straight line. The orthogonal incidence of a small amplitude flexural-gravitational wave on the support is considered. Exact expressions are obtained for the wave field in the fluid and the flexural field in the plate. The transmission coefficient of the incident flexural-gravitational wave through the support and its reflection coefficient from it are determined. The forces which arise in the support are found. The investigation is carried out for liquids of finite and infinite depth. The effect of the depth of the liquid on the wave processes is indicated. The liquid is assumed to be inviscid and its friction on the bottom and the lower surface of the plate in the neighbourhood of the support is therefore ignored.  相似文献

使用线性粘滞的多孔弹性介质模型,解决在弹性介质和非饱和多孔弹性介质分界面上平面P波的反射与透射问题,这里的非饱和多孔介质中固体骨架被两种相互耦合的流体(液体和气体)所充满.通过势函数的方法得到了振幅反射系数与振幅透射系数.然后推导得到入射波与反射波、透射波之间能量转换情况.研究发现:用振幅比和能量比所表示的反射系数与透射系数是与入射角度、饱和度、入射频率以及上下层介质的弹性常数有关的方程式.数值计算通过图形的形式表达出来,而且入射角度、频率及饱和度对振幅和能量的反射与透射系数的影响分别进行了讨论.证明了在整个波的传播过程中分界处并没有发生能量的耗散.  相似文献

In this paper, a high efficient computational approach, the extended Legendre orthogonal polynomial method (LOPM) is provided to investigate the reflection and transmission of elastic waves in orthotropic couple-stress layered plates sandwiched between two elastic half-spaces. In this approach, the anisotropic couple-stress theory is introduced into the LOPM to calculate the reflection and transmission coefficients of the orthotropic interlayers. The stress components, couple-stress components, rotation vectors and governing equations are derived in terms of the Legendre orthogonal polynomial. The present method does not require calculations of the displacement solutions of each partial wave in anisotropic multilayered microstructures, but expands the displacement vector of each layer into a Legendre orthogonal polynomial series with the expansion coefficients to be calculated. The incident P wave and SH wave are calculated, respectively. The effects of length scale parameters in three different directions are studied. It is found that the reflection and transmission coefficients of the incident P wave are only related to the length scale parameter in the z direction. For incident SH wave, the influence of the length scale parameter along the thickness direction is much more significant than that of the length scale parameter in the y direction.  相似文献

Within the framework of linearized theory, obliquely incident water wave scattering by an uneven ocean-bed in the form of a small bottom undulation in a two-layer fluid, where the upper layer has a thin ice-cover while the lower one has the undulation, is investigated here. In such a two-layer fluid, there exist two modes of time-harmonic waves—the one with lower wave number propagating just below the ice-cover and the one with higher wave number along the interface. An incident wave of a particular mode gets reflected and transmitted by the bottom undulations into waves of both the modes. Assuming irrotational motion, a perturbation technique is employed to solve the first-order corrections to the velocity potentials in the two-layer fluid by using Fourier transform appropriately and also to calculate the reflection and transmission coefficients in terms of integrals involving the shape function representing the bottom undulation. For a sinusoidal bottom topography, these coefficients are depicted graphically against the wave number. It is observed that when the oblique wave is incident on the ice-cover surface, we always find energy transfer to the interface, but for interfacial oblique incident waves, there are parameter ranges for which no energy transfer to the ice-cover surface is possible.  相似文献

We consider the evolution of vibrations of a thin nonuniformly compressed elastic plate that floats on a surface of a homogeneous ideal incompressible fluid of finite depth, by using the method of integral transformations. Waves are caused by pressures of the type of traveling waves on the surface of the plate, which is harmonic in one of the directions. An analysis of conditions of perturbations of waves that form oscillations of the plate and the wave motion of the fluid is given. Asymptotic high-freqeuncy estimates are obtained for the amplitudes of specular and non-specular reflections with extraction of the contribution of sound reradiation into the surrounding medium by Rayleigh type surface elastic waves. The conditions are found that govern the magnification of scattering in the opposite direction. The theoretical explanation of the book reflection effect /1/ for bounded sound beam incidence on the plane interface of a fluid-elastic solid is given by many authors in different situations (/12/, say). As for non-specular reflection of a plane sound wave by bounded elastic bodies (plates, cylinders, rods, and shells enclosed in a screen), studied most thoroughly in /3–9/, this effect is a consequence of satisfying the space-time resonance conditions between the incident acoustic wave and the normal surface waves excited in an elastic solid under total internal reflection.  相似文献

A study is made of over-reflection of acoustic-gravity waves incident upon a magnetic shear layer in an isothermal compressible electrically conducting fluid in the presence of an external magnetic field. The reflection and transmission coefficients of hydromagnetic acoustic-gravity waves incident upon magnetic shear layer are calculated. The invariance of wave-action flux is used to investigate the properties of reflection, transmission and absorption of the waves incident upon the shear layer, and then to discuss how these properties depend on the wavelength, length scale of the shear layers, and the ratio of the flow speed and phase speed of the waves. Special attention is given to the relationship between the wave-amplification and critical-level behaviour. It is shown that there exists a critical level within the shear layer and the wave incident upon the shear layer is over-reflected, that is, more energy is reflected back towards the source than was originally emitted. The mechanism of the over-reflection (or wave amplification) is due to the fact that the excess reflected energy is extracted by the wave from the external magnetic field. It is also found that the absence of critical level within the shear layer leads to non-amplification of waves. For the case of very large vertical wavelength of waves, the coefficients of incident, reflected and transmitted energy are calculated. In this limiting situation, the wave is neither amplified nor absorbed by the shear layer. Finally, it is shown that resonance occurs at a particular value of the phase velocity of the wave.  相似文献

We investigate the propagation of waves generated by oscillations of a section of the bottom of a tank through a two-layer fluid, in the presence of a dock. Wave motions in an inhomogeneous fluid generated by displacement of a section of the bottom of a tank were studied in [1] where the upper surface of the fluid was assumed either to be completely free, or completely covered with ice. In the present paper we use the method given in [2] to investigate a similar problem under the assumption that the fluid surface is partly covered with an immovable rigid plate. The expressions obtained for the velocity potential are used to determine the form of the free surface and of the interface. We show that when the fluid is inhomogeneous, the wave amplitude on the free surface increases, while the presence of a plate reduces the amplitude of the surface waves, as well as of the internal waves in the region between the plate and the oscillating section of the bottom.  相似文献

Scattering of waves obliquely incident on small cylindrical undulations at the bottom of a two-layer fluid wherein the upper layer has a free surface and the lower layer has an undulating bottom, is investigated here assuming linear theory. There exists two modes of time-harmonic waves propagating at each of the free surface and the interface. Due to an obliquely incident wave of a particular mode, reflected and transmitted waves of both the modes are created in general by the bottom undulations. For small undulations, a simplified perturbation analysis is used to obtain first-order reflection and transmission coefficients of both the modes due to oblique incidence of waves of again both modes, in terms of integrals involving the shape function describing the bottom. For sinusoidal undulations, these coefficients are plotted graphically to illustrate the energy transfer between the waves of different modes induced by the bottom undulations.  相似文献

A numerical solution of the problem of the incidence of plane harmonic waves on the interfacial boundary of two joined half-strips with different elastic properties is presented. A detailed analysis is given of the reflection and transmission of the incident wave energy through the inter-facial boundary, and the nature of the state of stress and strain is investigated in its neighbourhood. The diffraction of a plane wave by an infinite elastic plate stiffened by a doubly periodic set of rigid ribs of moderate wave dimensions is studied. In this paper, the homogenization of a very rough two-dimensional interface separating two dissimilar isotropic micropolar elastic solids is investigated. The interface is assumed to oscillate between two parallel straight lines. The main aim is to derive homogenized equations in explicit form. These equations are obtained by the homogenization method along with the matrix formalism of the theory of micropolar elasticity. Since obtained homogenized equations are totally explicit, they are a powerful tool for solving various practical problems. As an example, the reflection and transmission of a longitudinal displacement plane wave at a very rough interface of tooth-comb type is investigated. The closed-form formulas for the reflection and transmission coefficients have been derived. Based on these formulas, some numerical examples are carried out to show the dependence of the reflection and transmission coefficients on the incident angle and the geometry parameter of the interface.  相似文献

An analysis is made of the influence of flow nonlinearity inthe apertures of a perforated elastic plate on the damping ofsound and flexural vibrations. Fluid is forced through the perforationsby the pressure differential established across the plate bythe incident disturbance. The Reynolds number is assumed tobe sufficiently large that separation occurs, and the reciprocatingaperture flows form ‘jets’ on alternate sides ofthe plate. The growth of these jets is modelled by means ofa nonlinear equation proposed by Cummings (1986). This equationis solved simultaneously with a generalized bending wave equationderived by the author (Howe, 1995a) which governs motions ofa perforated elastic plate whose lengths scales are large comparedto the aperture spacing. It is shown that significant attenuationsof large amplitude acoustic waves can occur except when thefrequency is so small that the plate is acoustically transparent.Bending waves are also damped provided the amplitude of theplate surface velocity is not too large and the frequency issmall enough to ensure the formation of substantial jets inthe apertures. Numerical results are given for large amplitudesound waves incident on a perforated screen in air, and forbending waves propagating over aluminium and steel screens immersedin either air or water.  相似文献

The problem on the oscillations of an ideal incompressible fluid in a moving rectangular vessel is studied. One wall of the vessel contains an elastic inclusion. The problem involves two free boundaries—the free surface of the fluid and the surface of the elastic inclusion. The influence of uniform extension on the unsteady vibrations of an elastic plate floating on the surface of a constant-depth homogeneous fluid surface is studied by the method of integral transformations. The vibrations are caused by a load moving at the constant velocity of the plate surface. The dependence of the size of the angular zones covered by waves, the wave front displacement velocities, and the critical load displacement velocity on the magnitude of the tensile force is analyzed. A plane wave is incident upon an infinite set of equally spaced, semi-infinite parallel and staggered plates. The boundary conditions on the plates alternate between the Dirichlet and Neumann ones. This problem is formulated as a pair of coupled Wiener-Hopf integral equations and solved by a method proposed by A. E. Heins in 1950. For the case of specular reflection, that is, a single reflected plane wave, the magnitudes of the reflection coefficient and the transmission coefficients are determined.  相似文献

The interaction of flexural‐gravity waves with a thin circular‐arc‐shaped permeable plate submerged beneath the ice‐covered surface of water with uniform finite depth is considered under the assumption of linear theory. The problem is reduced to a second kind hypersingular integral equation for the potential difference across the plate which is solved approximately by an expansion–collocation method. Utilizing the solution, the reflection and the transmission coefficients and the hydrodynamic forces are evaluated numerically. The focus of the paper is to illustrate the effect of a porous curved plate submerged in finite depth water with an ice‐cover on the normally incident waves. Numerical results for a circular‐arc‐shaped plate for different configurations are derived and represented graphically. Also, by choosing an appropriate set of parameters, the known results for a circular‐arc‐shaped rigid plate submerged in deep water and a semicircular porous plate submerged in finite depth water with a free surface are recovered as special cases.  相似文献
