We consider a steady-state heat conduction problem P α with mixed boundary conditions for the Poisson equation depending on a positive parameter α , which represents the heat transfer coefficient on a portion Γ 1 of the boundary of a given bounded domain in R n . We formulate distributed optimal control problems over the internal energy g for each α . We prove that the optimal control g_ op α and its corresponding system u_ g_ op α α and adjoint p_ g_ op α α states for each α are strongly convergent to g op , u_ g op and p _ g op , respectively, in adequate functional spaces. We also prove that these limit functions are respectively the optimal control, and the system and adjoint states corresponding to another distributed optimal control problem for the same Poisson equation with a different boundary condition on the portion Γ 1 . We use the fixed point and elliptic variational inequality theories.  相似文献

First, let u g be the unique solution of an elliptic variational inequality with source term g. We establish, in the general case, the error estimate between $u_{3}(\mu)=\mu u_{g_{1}}+ (1-\mu)u_{g_{2}}$ and $u_{4}(\mu)=u_{\mu g_{1}+ (1-\mu) g_{2}}$ for ????[0,1]. Secondly, we consider a family of distributed optimal control problems governed by elliptic variational inequalities over the internal energy g for each positive heat transfer coefficient h given on a part of the boundary of the domain. For a given cost functional and using some monotony property between u 3(??) and u 4(??) given in Mignot (J.?Funct. Anal. 22:130?C185, 1976), we prove the strong convergence of the optimal controls and states associated to this family of distributed optimal control problems governed by elliptic variational inequalities to a limit Dirichlet distributed optimal control problem, governed also by an elliptic variational inequality, when the parameter h goes to infinity. We obtain this convergence without using the adjoint state problem (or the Mignot??s conical differentiability) which is a great advantage with respect to the proof given in Gariboldi and Tarzia (Appl. Math. Optim. 47:213?C230, 2003), for optimal control problems governed by elliptic variational equalities.  相似文献

We consider a steady-state heat conduction problem Pα withmixed boundary conditions for the Poisson equation in a bounded multidimensional domain Ω depending of a positive parameter α which represents the heat transfer coefficient on a portion Γ1 of the boundary of Ω. We consider, for each α > 0, a cost function Jα and we formulate boundary optimal control problems with restrictions over the heat flux q on a complementary portion Γ2 of the boundary of Ω. We obtain that the optimality conditions are given by a complementary free boundary problem in Γ2 in terms of the adjoint state. We prove that the optimal control q and its corresponding system state u and adjoint state p for each α are strongly convergent to qop, u and p in L22), H1(Ω), and H1(Ω) respectively when α → ∞. We also prove that these limit functions are respectively the optimal control, the system state and the adjoint state corresponding to another boundary optimal control problem with restrictions for the same Poisson equation with a different boundary condition on the portion Γ1. We use the elliptic variational inequality theory in order to prove all the strong convergences. In this paper, we generalize the convergence result obtained in Ben Belgacem-El Fekih-Metoui, ESAIM:M2AN, 37 (2003), 833-850 by considering boundary optimal control problems with restrictions on the heat flux q defined on Γ2 and the parameter α (which goes to infinity) is defined on Γ1. The aim of this paper is to prove some stability result for nonlinear elliptic systems of the form where Δp denotes the p-Laplacian operator defined by Δpz = div(|∇ z|p-2z); p > 2, Ω is a bounded domain in RN (N > 1) with smooth boundary where with h = 1 when α = 1, λ is a positive parameter and f,g are C2 functin on [0,∞) × [0,∞). We prove stability and instability results of positive stationary solutions under various choices of f and g.  相似文献

We consider the existence of bound states for the coupled elliptic system
where n ≤ 3. Using the fixed point index in cones we prove the existence of a five-dimensional continuum of solutions (λ1, λ2, μ 1, μ 2, β, u 1, u 2) bifurcating from the set of semipositive solutions (where u 1 = 0 or u 2 = 0) and investigate the parameter range covered by . We consider coupled PDE systems comprising of a hyperbolic and a parabolic-like equation with an interface on a portion of the boundary. These models are motivated by structural acoustic problems. A specific prototype consists of a wave equation defined on a three-dimensional bounded domain Ω coupled with a thermoelastic plate equation defined on Γ 0—a flat surface of the boundary \partial Ω . Thus, the coupling between the wave and the plate takes place on the interface Γ 0. The main issue studied here is that of uniform stability of the overall interactive model. Since the original (uncontrolled) model is only strongly stable, but not uniformly stable, the question becomes: what is the ``minimal amount' of dissipation necessary to obtain uniform decay rates for the energy of the overall system? Our main result states that boundary nonlinear dissipation placed only on a suitable portion of the part of the boundary which is complementary to Γ 0, suffices for the stabilization of the entire structure. This result is new with respect to the literature on several accounts: (i) thermoelasticity is accounted for in the plate model; (ii) the plate model does not account for any type of mechanical damping, including the structural damping most often considered in the literature; (iii) there is no mechanical damping placed on the interface Γ 0; (iv) the boundary damping is nonlinear without a prescribed growth rate at the origin; (v) the undamped portions of the boundary \partial Ω are subject to Neumann (rather than Dirichlet) boundary conditions, which is a recognized difficulty in the context of stabilization of wave equations, due to the fact that the strong Lopatinski condition does not hold. The main mathematical challenge is to show how the thermal energy is propagated onto the hyperbolic component of the structure. This is achieved by using a recently developed sharp theory of boundary traces corresponding to wave and plate equations, along with the analytic estimates recently established for the co-continuous semigroup associated with thermal plates subject to free boundary conditions. These trace inequalities along with the analyticity of the thermoelastic plate component allow one to establish appropriate inverse/ recovery type estimates which are critical for uniform stabilization. Our main result provides ``optimal' uniform decay rates for the energy function corresponding to the full structure. These rates are described by a suitable nonlinear ordinary differential equation, whose coefficients depend on the growth of the nonlinear dissipation at the origin. \par Accepted 12 May 2000. If P is a pleated plane in 3-dimensional hyperbolic space H 3 and α a geodesic in its intrinsic metric we define B(P,α), the average bending of P in the direction α. We show that if P is a convex pleated plane embedded in H 3 then B(P,α)≤K for some universal K. Furthermore if PΓ is a boundary component of the convex hull of a quasi-Fuchsian group Γ then B(PΓ,α)=B(Γ) almost everywhere, where B(Γ) is a constant times the length of the bending lamination βΓ of the pleated surface X Γ=PΓ/Γ. We use these to prove a number of results about quasi-Fuchsian groups including a universal bound on the Lipschitz constant for the map to infinity and a bound on the length of βΓ by a constant times the Euler characteristic of X Γ. It is known that ifH m is the classical (2m+1)-dimensional Heisenberg group, Γ a cocompact discrete subgroup ofH m andg a left invariant metric, then (Γ/H m, g) is infinitesimally spectrally rigid within the family of left invariant metrics. The purpose of this paper is to show that for everym≥2 and for a certain choice of Γ andg, there is a deformation (Γ/H m, g α) withg=g 1 such that for every α≠1, (Γ/H m, g α)does admit a nontrivial isospectral deformation. For α≠1 the metricsg α will not beH m-left invariant, and the (Γ/H m, gxα) will not be nilmanifolds, but still solvmanifolds.  相似文献

We describe the asymptotic behaviour in Sobolev spaces of sequences of solutions of Paneitz-type equations [Eq. (E α ) below] on a compact Riemannian manifold (M, g) which are invariant by a subgroup of the group of isometries of (M, g). We also prove pointwise estimates.  相似文献

For a bounded domain Ω ⊂ R n endowed with L -metric g, and a C 5-Riemannian manifold (N, h) ⊂ R k without boundary, let uW 1,2(Ω, N) be a weakly harmonic map, we prove that (1) uC α (Ω, N) for n = 2, and (2) for n ≥ 3, if, in additions, gVMO(Ω) and u satisfies the quasi-monotonicity inequality (1.5), then there exists a closed set Σ ⊂ Ω, with H n-2(Σ) = 0, such that for some α ∈ (0, 1). Let S be a smooth projective surface over C polarized by a 2-very ample line bundle L=O S(L), i.e. for any 0-dimensional subscheme (Z,O Z ) of length 3 the restriction map Γ(L)→Γ(L⊗O Z) is a surjection. This generalization of very ampleness was recently introduced by M. Beltrametti and A.J. Sommese. The authors prove that, if L·L≥13, the adjoint line bundleK SL is 2-very ample apart from a list of well understood exceptions and up to contracting down the smooth rational curves E such that E·E=−1, L·E=2. The appendix contains an inductive argument in order to extend the result in higher dimension.  相似文献

We deal with positive solutions of Δu = a(x)u p in a bounded smooth domain subject to the boundary condition ∂u/∂v = λu, λ a parameter, p > 1. We prove that this problem has a unique positive solution if and only if 0 < λ < σ1 where, roughly speaking, σ1 is finite if and only if |∂Ω ∩ {a = 0}| > 0 and coincides with the first eigenvalue of an associated eigenvalue problem. Moreover, we find the limit profile of the solution as λ → σ1. Supported by DGES and FEDER under grant BFM2001-3894 (J. García-Melián and J. Sabina) and ANPCyT PICT No. 03-05009 (J. D. Rossi). J.D. We consider the nonlinear eigenvalue problem −Δuf(u) in Ω u=0 on ∂Ω, where Ω is a ball or an annulus in RN (N ≥ 2) and λ > 0 is a parameter. It is known that if λ >> 1, then the corresponding positive solution uλ develops boundary layers under some conditions on f. We establish the asymptotic formulas for the slope of the boundary layers of uλ with the exact second term and the ‘optimal’ estimate of the third term.  相似文献

We consider the heat equation u t = Lu where L is a second-order difference operator in a discrete variable n. The fundamental solution has an expansion in terms of the Bessel functions of imaginary argument. The coefficients α k (n, m) in this expansion are analogs of Hadamard’s coefficients for the (continuous) Schr?dinger operator. We derive an explicit formula for α k in terms of the wave and the adjoint wave functions of the Toda lattice hierarchy. As a first application of this result, we prove that the values of these coefficients on the diagonals n = m and n = m + 1 define a hierarchy of differential-difference equations which is equivalent to the Toda lattice hierarchy. Using this fact and the correspondence between commutative rings of difference operators and algebraic curves we show that the fundamental solution can be summed up, giving a finite formula involving only two Bessel functions with polynomial coefficients in the time variable t, if and only if the operator L belongs to the family of bispectral operators constructed in [18].   相似文献

The paper is devoted to the study of the behavior of the following mixed problem for large values of time:
where Ω is an unbounded region of ℝ n with, generally speaking, noncompact boundary ; the surface Γ is star-shaped (relative to the origin), ν is the unit outer normal to ∂Ω; and the initial functionsf andg are assumed to be sufficiently smooth and finite. Under certain restrictions on the part of the boundary Γ2 constrained by the impedance condition, we establish that one can match the impedanceg≥0 (characterizing the absorption of energy by the surface Γ2) to the geometric properties of this surface so that the energy on an arbitrary compact set will decay at a rate characteristic for the first mixed problem. Given (M,g) a smooth compact Riemannian manifold of dimension n ≥ 5, we consider equations like
where is a Paneitz-Branson type operator with constant coefficients α and aα, u is required to be positive, and is critical from the Sobolev viewpoint. We define the energy function Em as the infimum of over the u’s which are solutions of the above equation. We prove that Em (α ) →+∞ as α →+∞ . In particular, for any Λ > 0, there exists α0 > 0 such that for α ≥ α0, the above equation does not have a solution of energy less than or equal to Λ.  相似文献

We consider semi-stable, radially symmetric, and decreasing solutions of  − Δ p u = g(u) in the unit ball of , where p > 1, Δ p is the p-Laplace operator, and g is a locally Lipschitz function. For this class of radial solutions, which includes local minimizers, we establish pointwise, L q , and W 1,q estimates which are optimal and do not depend on the specific nonlinearity g. Among other results, we prove that every radially decreasing and semi-stable solution u belonging to W 1,p (B 1) is bounded whenever n < p + 4p/(p − 1). Under standard assumptions on the nonlinearity g(u) = λf (u), where λ > 0 is a parameter, it is proved that the corresponding extremal solution u * is semi-stable, and hence, it enjoys the regularity stated in our main result.  相似文献

We study the problem as to which is the cardinality of connected components of the graph Γα, defined as follows. Let G be a group and a an element of G. The vertex set V(Γα) of the graph is the conjugacy class of elements,Cl G(a), and two vertices x and y of the graph Γα are bridged by an edge iff x=y. If the intersectionC G(a)∩Cl G(a) is finite, Γα is locally finite. We prove that connected components of the locally finite graph Γα are finite in some classes of groups.  Let , and let α be an expansive -action by continuous automorphisms of a compact abelian group X with completely positive entropy. Then the group of homoclinic points of α is countable and dense in X, and the restriction of α to the α-invariant subgroup is a -action by automorphisms of . By duality, there exists a -action by automorphisms of the compact abelian group : this action is called the adjoint action of α. We prove that is again expansive and has completely positive entropy, and that α and are weakly algebraically equivalent, i.e. algebraic factors of each other. A -action α by automorphisms of a compact abelian group X is reflexive if the -action on the compact abelian group adjoint to is algebraically conjugate to α. We give an example of a non-reflexive expansive -action α with completely positive entropy, but prove that the third adjoint is always algebraically conjugate to . Furthermore, every expansive and ergodic -action α is reflexive. The last section contains a brief discussion of adjoints of certain expansive algebraic -actions with zero entropy. This paper is concerned with the study of the nonlinear damped wave equation
where Ω is a bounded domain of having a smooth boundary ∂Ω = Γ. Assuming that g is a function which admits an exponential growth at the infinity and, in addition, that h is a monotonic continuous increasing function with polynomial growth at the infinity, we prove both: global existence as well as blow up of solutions in finite time, by taking the initial data inside the potential well. Moreover, optimal and uniform decay rates of the energy are proved for global solutions. The author is Supported by CNPq 300959/2005-2, CNPq/Universal 472281/2006-2 and CNPq/Casadinho 620025/2006-9.
