This paper deals with the number of limit cycles and bifurcation problem of quadratic differential systems. Under conditions $a<0,b+2l>0,l+1<0$, the author draws three bifurcation diagrams of the system (1.18) below in the (\delta,m) plane, which show that the maximum number of limit cycles around a focus is two in this case.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the problem of limit cycle bifurcation for piecewise smooth near-Hamiltonian systems with multiple parameters. By the first Melnikov function, some novel criteria have been established for the existence of multiple limit cycles. Furthermore, an example is included to validate the obtained results by considering the maximum number of limit cycles for a piecewise quadratic system studied in Llibre and Mereu (2014) [12]. Compared with the result in the above reference, one more limit cycle is found by our method.  相似文献

In this paper we will prove that limit cycles for the quadratic differential system (III)l=n=0 in Chinese classification are concentratedly distributed, and that the maximum number of limit cycles around O (0,0) is at least two. Limit cycles of quadratic systems   总被引:2,自引:1,他引:1
In this paper, the global qualitative analysis of planar quadratic dynamical systems is established and a new geometric approach to solving Hilbert’s Sixteenth Problem in this special case of polynomial systems is suggested. Using geometric properties of four field rotation parameters of a new canonical system which is constructed in this paper, we present a proof of our earlier conjecture that the maximum number of limit cycles in a quadratic system is equal to four and their only possible distribution is (3:1) [V.A. Gaiko, Global Bifurcation Theory and Hilbert’s Sixteenth Problem, Kluwer, Boston, 2003]. Besides, applying the Wintner–Perko termination principle for multiple limit cycles to our canonical system, we prove in a different way that a quadratic system has at most three limit cycles around a singular point (focus) and give another proof of the same conjecture.  相似文献

Yablonskii (Differential Equations 2 (1996) 335) and Filipstov (Differential Equations 9 (1973) 983) proved the existence of two different families of algebraic limit cycles of degree 4 in the class of quadratic systems. It was an open problem to know if these two algebraic limit cycles where all the algebraic limit cycles of degree 4 for quadratic systems. Chavarriga (A new example of a quartic algebraic limit cycle for quadratic sytems, Universitat de Lleida, Preprint 1999) found a third family of this kind of algebraic limit cycles. Here, we prove that quadratic systems have exactly four different families of algebraic limit cycles. The proof provides new tools based on the index theory for algebraic solutions of polynomial vector fields.

To estimate the number of limit cycles appearing under a perturbation of a quadratic system that has a center with symmetry, we use the method of generalized Dulac functions. To this end, we reduce the perturbed system to a Liénard system with a small parameter, for which we construct a Dulac function depending on the parameter. This permits one to estimate the number of limit cycles in the perturbed system for all sufficiently small parameter values. We find the Dulac function by solving a linear programming problem. The suggested method is used to analyze four specific perturbed systems that globally have exactly three limit cycles [i.e., the limit cycle distribution 3 or (3, 0)] and two systems that have the limit cycle distribution (3, 1) (i.e., one nest around each of the two foci).  相似文献

In this paper, we first study the problem of finding the maximum number of zeros of functions with parameters and then apply the results obtained to smooth or piecewise smooth planar autonomous systems and scalar periodic equations to study the number of limit cycles or periodic solutions, improving some fundamental results both on the maximum number of limit cycles bifurcating from an elementary focus of order $k$ or a limit cycle of multiplicity $k$, or from a period annulus, and on the maximum number of periodic solutions for scalar periodic smooth or piecewise smooth equations as well.  相似文献

In this paper, a quadratic system with two parallel straight-line-isoclines is considered. This system corresponds to the system of class II in the classification of Ye Yanqian [Ye Yanqian et al., Theory of Limit Cycles, Transl. Math. Monogr., vol. 66, American Mathematical Society, Providence, RI, 1986]. Using the field rotation parameters of the constructed canonical system and geometric properties of the spirals filling the interior and exterior domains of its limit cycles, we prove that the maximum number of limit cycles in a quadratic system with two parallel straight-line-isoclines and two finite singular points is equal to two. Besides, we obtain the same result in a different way: applying the Wintner–Perko termination principle for multiple limit cycles and using the methods of global bifurcation theory developed in [V.A. Gaiko, Global Bifurcation Theory and Hilbert’s Sixteenth Problem, Kluwer, Boston, 2003].  相似文献

The perturbed quadratic Hamiltonian system is reduced to a Lienard system with a small parameter for which a Dulac function depending on it is constructed. This permits one to estimate the number of limit cycles of the perturbed system for all sufficiently small parameter values. To find the Dulac function, we use the solution of a linear programming problem. The suggested method is used for studying three specific perturbed systems that have exactly two limit cycles, i.e., the distribution 2 or (0, 2), and one system with distribution (1, 1).  相似文献
