INITIAL BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM FOR MODIFIED ZAKHAROV EQUATIONS

In this paper the authors consider the existence and uniqueness of the solution to the initial boundary value problem for a class of modified Zakharov equations, prove the global existence of the solution to the problem by a priori integral estimates and Galerkin method.     

Energy Equality and Uniqueness of Weak Solutions to MHD Equations in L∞（0, T; L^n（Ω））

In this paper, we study the energy equality and the uniqueness of weak solutions to the MHD equations in the critical space L∞（0, T; L^n（Ω）. We prove that if the velocity u belongs to the critical space L∞（0, T; L^n（Ω）, the energy equality holds. On the basis of the energy equality, we further prove that the weak solution to the MHD equations is unique.     

LOCAL WELL-POSEDNESS TO THE CAUCHY PROBLEM OF THE 3-D COMPRESSIBLE NAVIER-STOKES EQUATIONS WITH DENSITY-DEPENDENT VISCOSITY

In this article, we prove the local existence and uniqueness of the classical solution to the Cauchy problem of the 3-D compressible Navier-Stokes equations with large initial data and vacuum, if the shear viscosity μ is a positive constant and the bulk viscosity λ(ρ) = ρβwith β≥ 0. Note that the initial data can be arbitrarily large to contain vacuum states.     

Existence and uniqueness of positive solutions of semilinear elliptic equations

This paper is devoted to the study of existence,uniqueness and non-degeneracy of positive solutions of semi-linear elliptic equations.A necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of positive solutions to problems is given.We prove that if the uniqueness and non-degeneracy results are valid for positive solutions of a class of semi-linear elliptic equations,then they are still valid when one perturbs the differential operator a little bit.As consequences,some uniqueness results of positive solutions under the domain perturbation are also obtained.     

GLOBAL EXISTENCE OF STRONG SOLUTIONS OF NAVIER-STOKES EQUATIONS WITH NON-NEWTONIAN POTENTIAL FOR ONE-DIMENSIONAL ISENTROPIC COMPRESSIBLE FLUIDS

The aims of this paper are to discuss global existence and uniqueness of strong solution for a class of isentropic compressible navier-Stokes equations with non-Newtonian in one-dimensional bounded intervals. We prove two global existence results on strong solutions of isentropic compressible Navier-Stokes equations. The first result shows only the existence. And the second one shows the existence and uniqueness result based on the first result, but the uniqueness requires some compatibility condition.     

一类拟线性奇摄动方程的边值问题

In this paper, the Nagumo theorem and the fixed-point theorem are used to prove the existence and the uniqueness and to estimate the asymptotic expansion of the shock solutions of the boundary value problems for a class of quasilinear differential equations, the asymptotic expansion of solution of any orders including boundary is obtained.     

SOLUTIONS TO A CLASS OF PARABOLIC INHOMOGENEOUS NORMALIZED p-LAPLACE EQUATIONS

In this article,we prove that viscosity solutions of the parabolic inhomogeneous equations can be characterized using asymptotic mean value properties for all p ≥ 1,including p = 1and p = ∞.We also obtain a comparison principle for the non-negative or non-positive inhomogeneous term / for the corresponding initial-boundary value problem and this in turn implies the uniqueness of solutions to such a problem.     

ADAPTED SOLUTION TO BSDES WITH POISSON JUMPS UNDER NON-GROWTH CONDITION

This paper is concerned with backward stochastic differential equations with Poisson jumps under some weak assumptions. We prove the existence and uniqueness of the adapted solution, which extends the result of Situ (Stoch. Process. Appl., (1997) 66) to the case where the monotonicity conditions (Briand, Stoch. Process. Appl., (2003) 108) is satisfied, using the extended Bihari inequality and a series of approximate equations. The stability of the solutions can also be obtained for such kind of equations.     

EXISTENCE AND UNIQUENESS RESULTS FOR VISCOUS, HEAT-CONDUCTING 3-D FLUID WITH VACUUM

We prove the local existence and uniqueness of the strong solution to the 3-D full Navier-Stokes equations whose the viscosity coefficients and the thermal conductivity coefficient depend on the density and the temperature. The initial density may vanish in an open set and the domain could be bounded or unbounded. Finally, we show the blow-up of the smooth solution to the compressible Navier-Stokes equations in R^n （n 〉 1） when the initial density has compactly support and the initial total momentum is nonzero.     

ENTROPY SOLUTIONS FOR FIRST-ORDER QUASILINEAR EQUATIONS RELATED TO A BILATERAL OBSTACLE CONDITION IN A BOUNDED DOMAIN

This paper is devoted to the existence and the uniqueness of the entropy solution for a general scalar conservation law associated with a forced bilateral obstacle condition in a bounded domain of R^P, p ≥ 1. The method of penalization is used with a view to obtaining an existence result. How-ever, the former only gives uniform L^∞-estimates and so leads in fact to look for an Entropy Measure-Valued Solution, according to the specific properties of bounded sequences in L^∞. The uniqueness of this EMVS is proved. Classically, it first ensures the existence of a bounded and measurable function U entropy solution and then the strong convergence in La of approximate solutions to U.     

RECENT PROGRESS ON SPHERICAL HARMONIC APPROXIMATION MADE BY BNU RESEARCH GROUP ——In memory of Professor Sun Yongsheng

As early as in 1990, Professor Sun Yongsheng, suggested his students at Beijing Normal University to consider research problems on the unit sphere. Under his guidance and encouragement his students started the research on spherical harmonic analysis and approximation. In this paper, we incompletely introduce the main achievements in this area obtained by our group and relative researchers during recent 5 years （2001-2005）. The main topics are： convergence of Cesaro summability, a.e. and strong summability of Fourier-Laplace series; smoothness and K-functionals; Kolmogorov and linear widths.     

A unified approach to certain problems of best local approximation

In this paper we study best local quasi-rational approximation and best local approximation from finite dimensional subspaces of vectorial functions of several variables. Our approach extends and unifies several problems concerning best local multi-point approximation in different norms.     

Boundedness for commutators of multipliers on Hardy type spaces

In this paper, we study the commutators generalized by multipliers and a BMO function. Under some assumptions, we establish its boundedness properties from certain atomic Hardy space Hb^p（R^n） into the Lebesgue space L^p with p 〈 1.

Let P(z)=∑↓j=0↑n ajx^j be a polynomial of degree n. In this paper we prove a more general result which interalia improves upon the bounds of a class of polynomials. We also prove a result which includes some extensions and generalizations of Enestrǒm-Kakeya theorem.     

Boundedness of commutators related to Marcinkiewicz integrals on hardy type spaces

In this paper, the authors study the boundedness of the operator [μΩ, b], the commutator generated by a function b ∈ Lipβ(Rn)(0 ＜β≤ 1) and the Marcinkiewicz integrals μΩ, on the classical Hardy spaces and the Herz-type Hardy spaces in the case Ω∈ Lipα(Sn-1)(0 ＜α≤ 1).     

Jacobi polynomials used to invert the laplace transform

Given the Laplace transform F(s) of a function f(t), we develop a new algorithm to find an approximation to f(t) by the use of the classical Jacobi polynomials. The main contribution of our work is the development of a new and very effective method to determine the coefficients in the finite series expansion that approximation f(t) in terms of Jacobi polynomials. Some numerical examples are illustrated.     

Generalization of the interaction between Haar approximation and polynomial operators to higher order methods

In applications it is useful to compute the local average empirical statistics on u. A very simple relation exists when of a function f（u） of an input u from the local averages are given by a Haar approximation. The question is to know if it holds for higher order approximation methods. To do so, it is necessary to use approximate product operators defined over linear approximation spaces. These products are characterized by a Strang and Fix like condition. An explicit construction of these product operators is exhibited for piecewise polynomial functions, using Hermite interpolation. The averaging relation which holds for the Haar approximation is then recovered when the product is defined by a two point Hermite interpolation.
