Analytic proof of dual variational formula for the first eigenvalue in dimension one

The first non-zero eigenvalue is the leading term in the spectrum of a self-adjoint operator. It plays a critical role in various applications and is treated in a large number of textbooks. There is a well-known variational formula for it (called the Min-Max Principle) which is especially effective for an upper bound of the eigenvalue. However, for the lower bound of the spectral gap, some dual variational formulas have been obtained only very recently. The original proofs are probabilistic. Some analytic proofs in one-dimensional case are proposed and certain extension is made. 给出了利用对弧长的曲线积分计算柱面上对面积的曲面积分的一种新方法,其计算公式为∫∫_Σf(x,y,z)dS=∫_(L*)ds∫z_1(x,y) z_2(x,y)f(x,y,z)dz,其中积分曲面Σ为垂直于xoy坐标面的柱面片,L*为Σ在xoy坐标面上的投影曲线(平面曲线),z=z1(x,y),z=z2(x,y)分别为过Σ的下边界曲线和上边界曲线的任一不同于Σ的曲面的方程.     

Finsler流形上的Laplace比较定理和有界估计(英文)

本文研究了Finsler流形上的距离函数的Laplacian.利用指标引理和文献[4]中主要方法,获得了Ricci曲率有函数下界的Laplacian比较定理,改进了文献[6]和文献[7]的相关结果.     

Inversion of band matrices

In this paper, a formula for inverting general band matrices is established. It takes a simple form when the matrices are tridiagonal, and as a special case it includes the Bukhberger-Emel'yanenko algorithm for symmetric tridiagonal matrices.

借助Rouché定理及渐近分析的方法,给出了边界条件含有特征参数的一类二阶微分方程的特征值渐近公式.运用特征值渐近公式给出了特征值反问题的一个惟一性结果及重构公式.     

On the first eigenvalue of Finsler manifolds with nonnegative weighted Ricci curvature

We prove that for a compact Finsler manifold M with nonnegative weighted Ricci curvature,if its first closed(resp.Neumann)eigenvalue of Finsler-Laplacian attains the sharp lower bound,then M is isometric to a circle(resp.a segment).Moreover,a lower bound of the first eigenvalue of Finsler-Laplacian with Dirichlet boundary condition is also estimated.These generalize the corresponding results in recent literature.

This paper discusses the first eigenvalue on a compact Riemann manifold with the negative lower bound Ricci curvature. Let M be a compact Riemann manifold with the Ricci curvature≥-R, R=const. ≥0 and d is the diameter of M. Our main result is that the first eigenvalue λ1 of M satisfies λ1≥π^2/d^2-0.518R.     

The Heat Kernel on Constant Negative Curvature Space Form

Let M be a n-dimensional simply connected, complete Riemannian manifold with constant negative curvature. The heat kernel on M is denoted by H^M_t(x, y) = H^M_t(r(x, y)), where r(x, y) = dist(x, y). We have the explicit formula of H^M_t(x, y) for n=2, 3, and the induction formula of H^M_t(x, y) for n ≥ 4^{[-1]}. But the explicit formula is very complicated for n ≥ 4. ln this paper we give some simple and useful global estimates of H^M_t(x, y), and apply these estimates to the problem of eigenvalue.

考虑了一类p-Laplacian拟线性椭圆变分不等式问题,通过运用优化理论中的补偿法和Clark次微分性质,研究了这类椭圆变分不等式解的存在性.     

The first eigenvalue of Finsler p-Laplacian

The eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of p-Laplacian on Finsler manifolds are defined to be critical values and critical points of its canonical energy functional. Based on it, we generalize some eigenvalue comparison theorems of p-Laplacian on Riemannian manifolds, such as Lichnerowicz type estimate, Obata type theorem and Mckean type theorem, to the Finsler setting. Not only that, the Lichnerowicz type estimate we obtained is even better than the corresponding one in Riemannian geometry.
