We discuss blow-up at space infinity of solutions to quasilinear parabolic equations of the form ut?(u)+f(u) with initial data u0L(RN), where ? and f are nonnegative functions satisfying ??0 and . We study nonnegative blow-up solutions whose blow-up times coincide with those of solutions to the O.D.E. v=f(v) with initial data ‖u0L(RN). We prove that such a solution blows up only at space infinity and possesses blow-up directions and that they are completely characterized by behavior of initial data. Moreover, necessary and sufficient conditions on initial data for blow-up at minimal blow-up time are also investigated.  相似文献

This paper deals with the blow-up properties of solutions to a system of heat equations u tu, v tv in B R×(0, T) with the Neumann boundary conditions εu/εη=e v, εv/εη=e u on S R×[0, T). The exact blow-up rates are established. It is also proved that the blow-up will occur only on the boundary. This work is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China  相似文献

This paper deals with non-simultaneous and simultaneous blow-up for radially symmetric solution (u1,u2,…,un) to heat equations coupled via nonlinear boundary (i=1,2,…,n). It is proved that there exist suitable initial data such that ui(i∈{1,2,…,n}) blows up alone if and only if qi+1<pi. All of the classifications on the existence of only two components blowing up simultaneously are obtained. We find that different positions (different values of k, i, n) of uik and ui leads to quite different blow-up rates. It is interesting that different initial data lead to different blow-up phenomena even with the same requirements on exponent parameters. We also propose that uik,uik+1,…,ui blow up simultaneously while the other ones remain bounded in different exponent regions. Moreover, the blow-up rates and blow-up sets are obtained.  相似文献

By constructing different auxiliary functions and using Hopf’s maximum principle, the sufficient conditions for the blow-up and global solutions are presented for nonlinear parabolic equation ut = ∇(a(u)b(x)c(t)∇u) + f(xuqt) with different kinds of boundary conditions. The upper bounds of the “blow-up time” and the “upper estimates” of global solutions are provided. Finally, some examples are presented as the application of the obtained results.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a new integrable equation (the Degasperis-Procesi equation) derived recently by Degasperis and Procesi (1999) [3]. Analogous to the Camassa-Holm equation, this new equation admits blow-up phenomenon and infinite propagation speed. First, we give a proof for the blow-up criterion established by Zhou (2004) in [12]. Then, infinite propagation speed for the Degasperis-Procesi equation is proved in the following sense: the corresponding solution u(x,t) with compactly supported initial datum u0(x) does not have compact x-support any longer in its lifespan. Moreover, we show that for any fixed time t>0 in its lifespan, the corresponding solution u(x,t) behaves as: u(x,t)=L(t)ex for x?1, and u(x,t)=l(t)ex for x?−1, with a strictly increasing function L(t)>0 and a strictly decreasing function l(t)<0 respectively.  相似文献

The blow-up rate estimate for the solution to a semilinear parabolic equation utu+V(x)|u|p−1u in Ω×(0,T) with 0-Dirichlet boundary condition is obtained. As an application, it is shown that the asymptotic behavior of blow-up time and blow-up set of the problem with nonnegative initial data u(x,0)=Mφ(x) as M goes to infinity, which have been found in [C. Cortazar, M. Elgueta, J.D. Rossi, The blow-up problem for a semilinear parabolic equation with a potential, preprint, arXiv: math.AP/0607055, July 2006], is improved under some reasonable and weaker conditions compared with [C. Cortazar, M. Elgueta, J.D. Rossi, The blow-up problem for a semilinear parabolic equation with a potential, preprint, arXiv: math.AP/0607055, July 2006].  相似文献

We study blow-up of radially symmetric solutions of the nonlinear heat equation utu+|u|p−1u either on RN or on a finite ball under the Dirichlet boundary conditions. We assume and that the initial data is bounded, possibly sign-changing. Our first goal is to establish various characterizations of type I and type II blow-ups. Among many other things we show that the following conditions are equivalent: (a) the blow-up is of type II; (b) the rescaled solution w(y,s) converges to either φ(y) or −φ(y) as s→∞, where φ denotes the singular stationary solution; (c) u(x,T)/φ(x) tends to ±1 as x→0, where T is the blow-up time. Our second goal is to study continuation beyond blow-up. Among other things we show that if a blow-up is of type I and incomplete, then its limit L1 continuation becomes smooth immediately after blow-up, and that type I blow-up implies “type I regularization,” that is, (tT)1/(p−1)u(⋅,t)L is bounded as tT. We also give various criteria for complete and incomplete blow-ups.  相似文献

This article deals with a class of nonlocal and degenerate quasilinear parabolic equation u t = f(u)(Δu + aΩ u(x, t)dx ? u) with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. The local existence of positive classical solutions is proved by using the method of regularization. The global existence of positive solutions and blow-up criteria are also obtained. Furthermore, it is shown that, under certain conditions, the solutions have global blow-up property. When f(s) = s p , 0 < p ≤ 1, the blow-up rate estimates are also obtained.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a semilinear parabolic equation ut=Δuc(x,t)up for (x,t)∈Ω×(0,) with nonlinear and nonlocal boundary condition uΩ×(0,)=∫Ωk(x,y,t)uldy and nonnegative initial data where p>0 and l>0. We prove some global existence results. Criteria on this problem which determine whether the solutions blow up in finite time for large or for all nontrivial initial data are also given.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the initial-boundary value problem of a semilinear parabolic equation with local and non-local (localized) reactions in a ball: utu+up+uq(x*,t) in B(R) where p,q>0,B(R)={xRN:|x|<R} and x*≠0. If max(p,q)>1, there exist blow-up solutions of this problem for large initial data. We treat the radially symmetric and one peak non-negative solution of this problem. We give the complete classification of total blow-up phenomena and single point blow-up phenomena according to p and q.
(i)
If or p=q>2, then single point blow-up occurs whenever solutions blow up.
(ii)
If 1<p<q, both phenomena, total blow-up and single point blow-up, occur depending on the initial data.
(iii)
If p?1<q, total blow-up occurs whenever solutions blow up.
(iv)
If max(p,q)?1, every solution exists globally in time.

Abstract

In this work we analyze the existence of solutions that blow-up in finite time for a reaction–diffusion equation u t  ? Δu = f(x, u) in a smooth domain Ω with nonlinear boundary conditions ?u/?n = g(x, u). We show that, if locally around some point of the boundary, we have f(x, u) = ?βu p , β ≥ 0, and g(x, u) = u q then, blow-up in finite time occurs if 2q > p + 1 or if 2q = p + 1 and β < q. Moreover, if we denote by T b the blow-up time, we show that a proper continuation of the blowing up solutions are pinned to the value infinity for some time interval [T, τ] with T b  ≤ T < τ. On the other hand, for the case f(x, u) = ?βu p , for all x and u, with β > 0 and p > 1, we show that blow-up occurs only on the boundary.  相似文献

We consider the problem
  1. u t=u xx+e u whenx ∈ ?,t > 0,
  2. u(x, 0) =u 0(x) whenx ∈ ?,
whereu 0(x) is continuous, nonnegative and bounded. Equation (1) appears as a limit case in the analysis of combustion of a one-dimensional solid fuel. It is known that solutions of (1), (2) blow-up in a finite timeT, a phenomenon often referred to as thermal runaway. In this paper we prove the existence of blow-up profiles which are flatter than those previously observed. We also derive the asymptotic profile ofu(x, T) near its blow-up points, which are shown to be isolated.  相似文献

We study blow-up of radially symmetric solutions of the nonlinear heat equation utu+|u|p−1u either on RN or on a finite ball under the Dirichlet boundary conditions. We assume that N?3 and . Our first goal is to analyze a threshold behavior for solutions with initial data u0=λv, where vCH1 and v?0, v?0. It is known that there exists λ?>0 such that the solution converges to 0 as t→∞ if 0<λ<λ?, while it blows up in finite time if λ?λ?. We show that there exist at most finitely many exceptional values λ1=λ?<λ2λk such that, for all λ>λ? with λλj (j=1,2,…,k), the blow-up is complete and of type I with a flat local profile. Our method is based on a combination of the zero-number principle and energy estimates. In the second part of the paper, we employ the very same idea to show that the constant solution κ attains the smallest rescaled energy among all non-zero stationary solutions of the rescaled equation. Using this result, we derive a sharp criterion for no blow-up.  相似文献

We study a priori estimates of positive solutions of the equation tuΔu=λu+a(x)up, xΩ, t>0, satisfying the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. Here Ω is a bounded domain in Rn, λR, p>1 is subcritical, changes sign and a,p satisfy some additional technical hypotheses. Assume that the solution u blows up in a finite time T and the set is connected. Using our a priori bounds, we show that u blows up completely in Ω+ at t=T and the blow-up time T depends continuously on the initial data.  相似文献

The blow-up of solutions to the PDE ψ(x)ut=[∇·A(x)∇+b(x)]um is studied via energy methods. The key step is a similarity transformation of the original unstable equation to a nonlocal stable one.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the problem of finding u = u(xyt) and p = p(t) which satisfy ut = uxx + uyy + p(t)u + ? in R × [0, T], u(xy, 0) = f(xy), (xy) ∈ R = [0, 1] × [0, 1], u is known on the boundary of R and u(xyt) = E(t), 0 < t ? T, where E(t) is known and (xy) is a given point of R. Through a function transformation, the nonlinear two-dimensional diffusion problem is transformed into a linear problem, and a backward Euler scheme is constructed. It is proved by the maximum principle that the scheme is uniquely solvable, unconditionally stable and convergent in L norm. The convergence orders of u and p are of O(τ + h2). The impact of initial data errors on the numerical solution is also considered. Numerical experiments are presented to illustrate the validity of the theoretical results.  相似文献

This article presents a semigroup approach to the mathematical analysis of the inverse parameter problems of identifying the unknown parameters p(t) and q in the linear parabolic equation ut(xt)  = uxx + qux(xt) + p(t)u(xt), with Dirichlet boundary conditions u(0, t) = ψ0, u(1, t) = ψ1. The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the distinguishability of the input-output mapping Φ[·]:PH1,2[0,T], via semigroup theory. In this paper, it is shown that if the nullspace of the semigroup T(t) consists of only zero function, then the input-output mapping Φ[·] has the distinguishability property. It is also shown that the types of the boundary conditions and the region on which the problem is defined play an important role in the distinguishability property of the mapping. Moreover, under the light of the measured output data ux(0, t) = f(t) the unknown parameter p(t) at (xt) = (0, 0) and the unknown coefficient q are determined via the input data. Furthermore, it is shown that measured output data f(t) can be determined analytically by an integral representation. Hence the input-output mapping Φ[·]:PH1,2[0,T] is given explicitly interms of the semigroup.  相似文献

This paper deals with a class of porous medium systems with moving localized sources ut=ur1(Δu+af(v(x0(t),t))),vt=vr2(Δv+bg(u(x0(t),t))) with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. It is shown that under certain conditions, solutions of the above system blow up in finite time for large a and b or large initial data while there exist global positive solutions to the above system for small a and b or small initial data. Moreover, in the one dimensional space case, it is also shown that all global positive solutions of the above problem are uniformly bounded.  相似文献

The paper deals with the radially symmetric solutions of ut=Δu+um(x,t)vn(0,t)ut=Δu+um(x,t)vn(0,t), vt=Δv+up(0,t)vq(x,t)vt=Δv+up(0,t)vq(x,t), subject to null Dirichlet boundary conditions. For the blow-up classical solutions, we propose the critical exponents for non-simultaneous blow-up by determining the complete and optimal classification for all the non-negative exponents: (i) There exist initial data such that uu (vv) blows up alone if and only if m>p+1m>p+1 (q>n+1q>n+1), which means that any blow-up is simultaneous if and only if m≤p+1mp+1, q≤n+1qn+1. (ii) Any blow-up is uu (vv) blowing up with vv (uu) remaining bounded if and only if m>p+1m>p+1, q≤n+1qn+1 (m≤p+1mp+1, q>n+1q>n+1). (iii) Both non-simultaneous and simultaneous blow-up may occur if and only if m>p+1m>p+1, q>n+1q>n+1. Moreover, we consider the blow-up rate and set estimates which were not obtained in the previously known work for the same model.  相似文献

In this paper we study the large time behavior of non-negative solutions to the Cauchy problem of utumuq in RN×(0,∞), where m>1 and q=qcm+2/N is a critical exponent. For non-negative initial value u(x,0)=u0(x)∈L1(RN), we show that the solution converges, if u0(x)(1+|x|)k is bounded for some k>N, to a unique fundamental solution of utum, independent of the initial value, with additional logarithmic anomalous decay exponent in time as t→∞.  相似文献
