A Kind of direct methods is presented for the solution of optimal control problems with state constraints. These methods are sequential quadratic programming methods. At every iteration a quadratic programming which is obtained by quadratic approximation to Lagrangian function and Linear approximations to constraints is solved to get a search direction for a merit function. The merit function is formulated by augmenting the Lagrangian funetion with a penalty term.A line search is carried out along the search direction to determine a step length such that the merit function is decreased. The methods presented in this paper include continuous sequential quadratic programming methods and discreate sequential quadrade programming methods.  相似文献

The penalty function method, presented many years ago, is an important numerical method for the mathematical programming problems. In this article, we propose a dual-relax penalty function approach, which is significantly different from penalty function approach existing for solving the bilevel programming, to solve the nonlinear bilevel programming with linear lower level problem. Our algorithm will redound to the error analysis for computing an approximate solution to the bilevel programming. The error estimate is obtained among the optimal objective function value of the dual-relax penalty problem and of the original bilevel programming problem. An example is illustrated to show the feasibility of the proposed approach.  相似文献

We consider an inverse quadratic programming (IQP) problem in which the parameters in the objective function of a given quadratic programming (QP) problem are adjusted as little as possible so that a known feasible solution becomes the optimal one. This problem can be formulated as a minimization problem with a positive semidefinite cone constraint and its dual (denoted IQD(A, b)) is a semismoothly differentiable (SC^1) convex programming problem with fewer variables than the original one. In this paper a smoothing Newton method is used for getting a Karush-Kuhn-Tucker point of IQD(A, b). The proposed method needs to solve only one linear system per iteration and achieves quadratic convergence. Numerical experiments are reported to show that the smoothing Newton method is effective for solving this class of inverse quadratic programming problems.  相似文献

We propose a line search exact penalty method with bi-object strategy for nonlinear semidefinite programming. At each iteration, we solve a linear semidefinite programming to test whether the linearized constraints are consistent or not. The search direction is generated by a piecewise quadratic-linear model of the exact penalty function. The penalty parameter is only related to the information of the current iterate point. The line search strategy is a penalty-free one. Global and local converg...  相似文献

We propose a new trust region algorithm for nonlinear constrained optimization problems. In each iteration of our algorithm, the trial step is computed by minimizing a quadratic approximation to the augmented Lagrange function in the trust region. The augmented Lagrange function is also used as a merit function to decide whether the trial step should be accepted. Our method extends the traditional trust region approach by combining a filter technique into the rules for accepting trial steps so that a trial step could still be accepted even when it is rejected by the traditional rule based on merit function reduction. An estimate of the Lagrange multiplier is updated at each iteration, and the penalty parameter is updated to force sufficient reduction in the norm of the constraint violations. Active set technique is used to handle the inequality constraints. Numerical results for a set of constrained problems from the CUTEr collection are also reported.  相似文献

We transform the system of nonlinear equations into a nonlinear programming problem, which is attacked by feasible sequential quadratic programming(FSQP) method. We do not employ standard least square approach. We divide the equations into two groups. One group, which contains the equations with zero residual,is treated as equality constraints. The square of other equations is regarded as objective function. Two groups are updated in every step. Therefore, the subproblem is updated at every step, which avoids the difficulty that it is required to lie in feasible region for FSQP.  相似文献

By using Fukushima‘s differentiable merit function,Taji,Fukushima and Ibaraki have given a globally convergent modified Newton method for the strongly monotone variational inequality problem and proved their method to be quadratically convergent under certain assumptions in 1993. In this paper a hybrid method for the variational inequality problem under the assumptions that the mapping F is continuously differentiable and its Jacobian matrix F(x) is positive definite for all x∈S rather than strongly monotone and that the set S is nonempty, polyhedral, closed and convex is proposed. Armijo-type line search and trust region strategies as well as Fukushima‘s differentiable merit function are incorporated into the method. It is then shown that the method is well defined and globally convergent and that, under the same assumptions as those of Taji et al. ,the method reduces to the basic Newton method and hence the rate of convergence is quadratic. Computational experiences show the efficiency of the proposed method.  相似文献

This paper proposes a optimal control problem for a general nonlinear systems with finitely many admissible control settings and with costs assigned to switching of controls. With dynamic programming and viscosity solution theory we show that the switching lower-value function is a viscosity solution of the appropriate systems of quasi-variational inequalities(the appropriate generalization of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation in this context) and that the minimal such switching-storage function is equal to the continuous switching lower-value for the game. With the lower value function a optimal switching control is designed for minimizing the cost of running the systems.  相似文献

Online gradient method has been widely used as a learning algorithm for training feedforward neural networks. Penalty is often introduced into the training procedure to improve the generalization performance and to decrease the magnitude of network weights. In this paper, some weight boundedness and deterministic con- vergence theorems are proved for the online gradient method with penalty for BP neural network with a hidden layer, assuming that the training samples are supplied with the network in a fixed order within each epoch. The monotonicity of the error function with penalty is also guaranteed in the training iteration. Simulation results for a 3-bits parity problem are presented to support our theoretical results.  相似文献

Deleting Outliers in Robust Regression with Mixed Integer Programming   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In robust regression we often have to decide how many are the unusual observations, which should be removed from the sample in order to obtain better fitting for the rest of the observations. Generally, we use the basic principle of LTS, which is to fit the majority of the data, identifying as outliers those points that cause the biggest damage to the robust fit. However, in the LTS regression method the choice of default values for high break down-point affects seriously the efficiency of the estimator. In the proposed approach we introduce penalty cost for discarding an outlier, consequently, the best fit for the majority of the data is obtained by discarding only catastrophic observations. This penalty cost is based on robust design weights and high break down-point residual scale taken from the LTS estimator. The robust estimation is obtained by solving a convex quadratic mixed integer programming problem, where in the objective function the sum of the squared residuals and penalties for discarding observations is minimized. The proposed mathematical programming formula is suitable for small-sample data. Moreover, we conduct a simulation study to compare other robust estimators with our approach in terms of their efficiency and robustness.  相似文献

In this paper we propose a recursive quadratic programming algorithm for nonlinear programming problems with inequality constraints that uses as merit function a differentiable exact penalty function. The algorithm incorporates an automatic adjustment rule for the selection of the penalty parameter and makes use of an Armijo-type line search procedure that avoids the need to evaluate second order derivatives of the problem functions. We prove that the algorithm possesses global and superlinear convergence properties. Numerical results are reported.  相似文献

An algorithm for nonlinear programming problems with equality constraints is presented which is globally and superlinearly convergent. The algorithm employs a recursive quadratic programming scheme to obtain a search direction and uses a differentiable exact augmented Lagrangian as line search function to determine the steplength along this direction. It incorporates an automatic adjustment rule for the selection of the penalty parameter and avoids the need to evaluate second-order derivatives of the problem functions. Some numerical results are reported.  相似文献

We analyze the convergence of a sequential quadratic programming (SQP) method for nonlinear programming for the case in which the Jacobian of the active constraints is rank deficient at the solution and/or strict complementarity does not hold for some or any feasible Lagrange multipliers. We use a nondifferentiable exact penalty function, and we prove that the sequence generated by an SQP using a line search is locally R-linearly convergent if the matrix of the quadratic program is positive definite and constant over iterations, provided that the Mangasarian-Fromovitz constraint qualification and some second-order sufficiency conditions hold. A working set SQCQP algorithm with simple nonmonotone penalty parameters   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper, we present a new sequential quadratically constrained quadratic programming (SQCQP) algorithm, in which a simple updating strategy of the penalty parameter is adopted. This strategy generates nonmonotone penalty parameters at early iterations and only uses the multiplier corresponding to the bound constraint of the quadratically constrained quadratic programming (QCQP) subproblem instead of the multipliers of the quadratic constraints, which will bring some numerical advantages. Furthermore, by using the working set technique, we remove the constraints of the QCQP subproblem that are locally irrelevant, and thus the computational cost could be reduced. Without assuming the convexity of the objective function or the constraints, the algorithm is proved to be globally, superlinearly and quadratically convergent. Preliminary numerical results show that the proposed algorithm is very promising when compared with the tested SQP algorithms.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider two algorithms for nonlinear equality and inequality constrained optimization. Both algorithms utilize stepsize strategies based on differentiable penalty functions and quadratic programming subproblems. The essential difference between the algorithms is in the stepsize strategies used. The objective function in the quadratic subproblem includes a linear term that is dependent on the penalty functions. The quadratic objective function utilizes an approximate Hessian of the Lagrangian augmented by the penalty functions. In this approximation, it is possible to ignore the second-derivative terms arising from the constraints in the penalty functions. The penalty parameter is determined using a strategy, slightly different for each algorithm, that ensures boundedness as well as a descent property. In particular, the boundedness follows as the strategy is always satisfied for finite values of the parameter. These properties are utilized to establish global convergence and the condition under which unit stepsizes are achieved. There is also a compatibility between the quadratic objective function and the stepsize strategy to ensure the consistency of the properties for unit steps and subsequent convergence rates. This research was funded by SERC and ESRC research contracts. Exact penalty function algorithm with simple updating of the penalty parameter   总被引:13,自引:0,他引:13
A new globally convergent algorithm for minimizing an objective function subject to equality and inequality constraints is presented. The algorithm determines a search direction by solving a quadratic programming subproblem, which always has an optimal solution, and uses an exact penalty function to compute the steplength along this direction through an Armijo-type scheme. The special structure of the quadratic subproblem is exploited to construct a new and simple method for updating the penalty parameter. This method may increase or reduce the value of the penalty parameter depending on some easily performed tests. A new method for updating the Hessian of the Lagrangian is presented, and a Q-superlinear rate of convergence is established. This work was supported in part by the British Council and the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cientifico & Tecnologico/CNPq, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The authors are very grateful to Mr. Lam Yeung for his invaluable assistance in computing the results and to a reviewer for constructive advice.  相似文献

One of the most interesting topics related to sequential quadratic programming algorithms is how to guarantee the consistence of all quadratic programming subproblems. In this decade, much work trying to change the form of constraints to obtain the consistence of the subproblems has been done. The method proposed by De O. Pantoja J.F. A. and coworkers solves the consistent problem of SQP method, and is the best to the authors’ knowledge. However, the scale and complexity of the subproblems in De O. Pantoja’s work will be increased greatly since all equality constraints have to be changed into absolute form. A new sequential quadratic programming type algorithm is presented by means of a special ε-active set scheme and a special penalty function. Subproblems of the new algorithm are all consistent, and the form of constraints of the subproblems is as simple as one of the general SQP type algorithms. It can be proved that the new method keeps global convergence and Local superlinear convergence. Project partly supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.  相似文献
