Volume-preserving field X on a 3-manifold is the one that satisfies LxΩ = 0 for some volume Ω. The Reeb vector field of a contact form is of volume-preserving, but not conversely. On the basis of Geiges-Gonzalo's parallelization results, we obtain a volume-preserving sphere, which is a triple of everywhere linearly independent vector fields such that all their linear combinations with constant coefficients are volume-preserving fields. From many aspects, we discuss the distinction between volume-preserving fields and Reeb-like fields. We establish a duality between volume-preserving fields and h-closed 2-forms to understand such distinction. We also give two kinds of non-Reeb-like but volume-preserving vector fields to display such distinction.  相似文献

We consider a holomorphic 1-form ω with an isolated zero on an isolated complete intersection singularity (V,0). We construct quadratic forms on an algebra of functions and on a module of differential forms associated to the pair (V,ω). They generalize the Eisenbud–Levine–Khimshiashvili quadratic form defined for a smooth V. We define a quasi–projective reduction of a complex algebraic variety X to be a regular map from X to a quasi–projective variety that is universal with respect to regular maps from X to quasi–projective varieties. A toric quasi–projective reduction is the analogous notion in the category of toric varieties. For a given toric variety X we first construct a toric quasi–projective reduction. Then we show that X has a quasi–projective reduction if and only if its toric quasi–projective reduction is surjective. We apply this result to characterize when the action of a subtorus on a quasi–projective toric variety admits a categorical quotient in the category of quasi–projective varieties. We present examples of flag homology spheres whose γ-vectors satisfy the Kruskal–Katona inequalities. This includes several families of well-studied simplicial complexes, including Coxeter complexes and the simplicial complexes dual to the associahedron and to the cyclohedron. In these cases, we construct explicit flag simplicial complexes whose f-vectors are the γ-vectors in question, and so a result of Frohmader shows that the γ-vectors satisfy not only the Kruskal–Katona inequalities but also the stronger Frankl–Füredi–Kalai inequalities. In another direction, we show that if a flag (d−1)-sphere has at most 2d+3 vertices its γ-vector satisfies the Frankl–Füredi–Kalai inequalities. We conjecture that if Δ is a flag homology sphere then γ(Δ) satisfies the Kruskal–Katona, and further, the Frankl–Füredi–Kalai inequalities. This conjecture is a significant refinement of Gal’s conjecture, which asserts that such γ-vectors are nonnegative.  相似文献

We compute the recently introduced Fan–Jarvis–Ruan–Witten theory of W-curves in genus zero for quintic polynomials in five variables and we show that it matches the Gromov–Witten genus-zero theory of the quintic three-fold via a symplectic transformation. More specifically, we show that the J-function encoding the Fan–Jarvis–Ruan–Witten theory on the A-side equals via a mirror map the I-function embodying the period integrals at the Gepner point on the B-side. This identification inscribes the physical Landau–Ginzburg/Calabi–Yau correspondence within the enumerative geometry of moduli of curves, matches the genus-zero invariants computed by the physicists Huang, Klemm, and Quackenbush at the Gepner point, and yields via Givental’s quantization a prediction on the relation between the full higher genus potential of the quintic three-fold and that of Fan–Jarvis–Ruan–Witten theory.  相似文献

A construction of bases for cell modules of the Birman–Murakami–Wenzl (or B–M–W) algebra B n (q,r) by lifting bases for cell modules of B n−1(q,r) is given. By iterating this procedure, we produce cellular bases for B–M–W algebras on which a large Abelian subalgebra, generated by elements which generalise the Jucys–Murphy elements from the representation theory of the Iwahori–Hecke algebra of the symmetric group, acts triangularly. The triangular action of this Abelian subalgebra is used to provide explicit criteria, in terms of the defining parameters q and r, for B–M–W algebras to be semisimple. The aforementioned constructions provide generalisations, to the algebras under consideration here, of certain results from the Specht module theory of the Iwahori–Hecke algebra of the symmetric group. Let G be a graph (i.e., a finite one-dimensional polyhedron) and f : G → G be a continuous map. In this paper, we show that every isolated recurrent point of f is an isolated non-wandering point; every accumulation point of the set of non-wandering points of f with infinite orbit is a two-order accumulation point of the set of recurrent points of f; the derived set of an ω-limit set of f is equal to the derived set of an the set of recurrent points of f; and the two-order derived set of non-wandering set of f is equal to the two-order derived set of the set of recurrent points of f.  相似文献

The Bass–Heller–Swan formula is a basic calculational tool in pseudoisotopy K-theory. We describe the Nil-groups and the Bass–Heller–Swan splitting for the group of the pseudoisotopies of a closed manifold. We use the methods of controlled topology used in the Bass–Heller–Swan splitting in K-theory.  相似文献

We prove a Mihlin–type multiplier theorem for operator–valued multiplier functions on UMD–spaces. The essential assumption is R–boundedness of the multiplier function. As an application we give a characterization of maximal –regularity for the generator of an analytic semigroup in terms of the R–boundedness of the resolvent of A or the semigroup .  This paper develops a polyhedral approach to the design, analysis, and computation of dynamic allocation indices for scheduling binary-action (engage/rest) Markovian stochastic projects which can change state when rested (restless bandits (RBs)), based on partial conservation laws (PCLs). This extends previous work by the author [J. Ni?o-Mora (2001): Restless bandits, partial conservation laws and indexability. Adv. Appl. Probab. 33, 76–98], where PCLs were shown to imply the optimality of index policies with a postulated structure in stochastic scheduling problems, under admissible linear objectives, and they were deployed to obtain simple sufficient conditions for the existence of Whittle's (1988) RB index (indexability), along with an adaptive-greedy index algorithm. The new contributions include: (i) we develop the polyhedral foundation of the PCL framework, based on the structural and algorithmic properties of a new polytope associated with an accessible set system -extended polymatroid}); (ii) we present new dynamic allocation indices for RBs, motivated by an admission control model, which extend Whittle's and have a significantly increased scope; (iii) we deploy PCLs to obtain both sufficient conditions for the existence of the new indices (PCL-indexability), and a new adaptive-greedy index algorithm; (iv) we interpret PCL-indexability as a form of the classic economics law of diminishing marginal returns, and characterize the index as an optimal marginal cost rate; we further solve a related optimal constrained control problem; (v) we carry out a PCL-indexability analysis of the motivating admission control model, under time-discounted and long-run average criteria; this gives, under mild conditions, a new index characterization of optimal threshold policies; and (vi) we apply the latter to present new heuristic index policies for two hard queueing control problems: admission control and routing to parallel queues; and scheduling a multiclass make-to-stock queue with lost sales, both under state-dependent holding cost rates and birth-death dynamics. In this paper, we prove the generalized Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of universal Jensen‘s equations in Banach modules over a unital C^*-algebra. It is applied to show the stability of universal Jensen‘s equations in a Hilbert module over a unital C^*-algebra. Moreover, we prove the stability of linear operators in a Hilbert module over a unital C^*-algebra.  相似文献

Summary. It is well known that any nonsingular M–matrix admits an LU factorization into M–matrices (with L and U lower and upper triangular respectively) and any singular M–matrix is permutation similar to an M–matrix which admits an LU factorization into M–matrices. Varga and Cai establish necessary and sufficient conditions for a singular M–matrix (without permutation) to allow an LU factorization with L nonsingular. We generalize these results in two directions. First, we find necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of an LU factorization of a singular M-matrix where L and U are both permitted to be singular. Second, we establish the minimal block structure that a block LU factorization of a singular M–matrix can have when L and U are M–matrices. A graph G is one-regular if its automorphism group Aut(G) acts transitively and semiregularly on the arc set. A Cayley graph Cay(Г, S) is normal if Г is a normal subgroup of the full automorphism group of Cay(Г, S). Xu, M. Y., Xu, J. (Southeast Asian Bulletin of Math., 25, 355-363 (2001)) classified one-regular Cayley graphs of valency at most 4 on finite abelian groups. Marusic, D., Pisanski, T. (Croat. Chemica Acta, 73, 969-981 (2000)) classified cubic one-regular Cayley graphs on a dihedral group, and all of such graphs turn out to be normal. In this paper, we classify the 4-valent one-regular normal Cayley graphs G on a dihedral group whose vertex stabilizers in Aut(G) are cyclic. A classification of the same kind of graphs of valency 6 is also discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, we study exhaustions, referred to as p-restrictions, of arbitrary nonelementary Kleinian groups with at most finitely many bounded parabolic elements. Special emphasis is put on the geometrically infinite case, where we obtain that the limit set of each of these Kleinian groups contains an infinite family of closed subsets, referred to as p-restricted limit sets, such that there is a Poincaré series and hence an exponent of convergence δp, canonically associated with every element in this family. Generalizing concepts which are well known in the geometrically finite case, we then introduce the notion of p-restricted Patterson measure, and show that these measures are non-atomic, δp-harmonic, δp-subconformal on special sets and δp-conformal on very special sets. Furthermore, we obtain the results that each p-restriction of our Kleinian group is of δp-divergence type and that the Hausdorff dimension of the p-restricted limit set is equal to δp.  相似文献

We construct Coleff–Herrera products and Bochner–Martinelli type residue currents associated with a tuple f of weakly holomorphic functions, and show that these currents satisfy basic properties from the (strongly) holomorphic case. This include the transformation law, the Poincaré–Lelong formula and the equivalence of the Coleff–Herrera product and the Bochner–Martinelli type residue current associated with f when f defines a complete intersection.  相似文献

We show that if A is a Hilbert–space operator, then the set of all projections onto hyperinvariant subspaces of A, which is contained in the von Neumann algebra υN(A) that is generated by A, is independent of the representation of υ N(A), thought of as an abstract W*–algebra. We modify a technique of Foias, Ko, Jung and Pearcy to get a method for finding nontrivial hyperinvariant subspaces of certain operators in finite von Neumann algebras. We introduce the B–circular operators as a special case of Speicher's B–Gaussian operators in free probability theory, and we prove several results about a B–circular operator z, including formulas for the B–valued Cauchy– and R–transforms of z*z. We show that a large class of L([0,1])–circular operators in finite von Neumann algebras have nontrivial hyperinvariant subspaces, and that another large class of them can be embedded in the free group factor L(F3). These results generalize some of what is known about the quasinilpotent DT–operator. Supported in part by NSF Grant DMS-0300336. with an Appendix by Gabriel Tucci  相似文献

We introduce strong formulations for robust mixed 0–1 programming with uncertain objective coefficients. We focus on a polytopic uncertainty set described by a ``budget constraint' for allowed uncertainty in the objective coefficients. We show that for a robust 0–1 problem, there is an α–tight linear programming formulation with size polynomial in the size of an α–tight linear programming formulation for the nominal 0–1 problem. We give extensions to robust mixed 0–1 programming and present computational experiments with the proposed formulations.  相似文献

System of Generalized Vector Quasi-Equilibrium Problems in Locally FC-Spaces   总被引:11,自引:0,他引:11
A new class of locally finite continuous topological spaces (for short, locally FC-spaces) and a class of system of generalized vector quasi-equilibrium problems are introduced. By applying a generalized Himmelberg type fixed point theorem for a set-valued mapping with KKM-property due to the author, a collectively fixed point and an equilibrium existence theorem of generalized game are first proved in locally FC-spaces. By applying our equilibrium existence theorem of generalized game, some new existence theorems of equilibrium points for the system of generalized vector quasi-equilibrium problems are proved in locally FC-spaces. These theorems improve, unify and generalize many known results in the literatures.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss the countable tightness of products of spaces which are quotient simages of locally separable metric spaces, or k-spaces with a star-countable k-network. The main result is that the following conditions are equivalent: (1) b = ω1; (2) t(Sω×Sω1) 〉 ω; (3) For any pair (X, Y), which are k-spaces with a point-countable k-network consisting of cosmic subspaces, t(X×Y)≤ω if and only if one of X, Y is first countable or both X, Y are locally cosmic spaces. Many results on the k-space property of products of spaces with certain k-networks could be deduced from the above theorem.  相似文献
