The notion of dispersion, a measure of denseness of sequences, plays an important role in quasi-Monte Carlo optimization. In this paper, we obtain an explicit formula for the dispersion of an important low dispersion sequence, namely the Hammersley Sequence in the unit square. The dispersiond M of theM points of this sequence, whereM=2N withN a positive integer is given by $$d_M = \frac{{\sqrt {2M - 2\sqrt M + 1} }}{M},if N is even, d_M = \frac{{\sqrt {\left( {5/2} \right)M - \sqrt {8M} + 1} }}{M},if N is odd.$$ .  相似文献

Let Λ te an arbitrary associative ring with unity and let R be its unital subring contained in the center of Λ. Further, let M=λ M be a left free Λ-module of finite rank. In this paper, the normalizer of the subgroupAut(λM) of automorphisms of the module λM in the groupAut(RM) of automorphisms of the moduleRM is computed. If the ring Λ is additively generated by its invertible elements, then the above normalizer coincides with the semidirect product of the normal subgroupAut(λM) and a subgroup isomorphic to the groupAut(Λ/R) of all ring automorphisms of the ring Λ that are identical on R. In this paper certain relations between the numerical coefficients of the Poisson formula of Part I and geometrical data of a spherical space form M, dim M = 2m+1 are investigated. The results yield an explicit relation between the spectrum of M and the Poincaré map of certain closed geodesics of M. Furthermore, explicit formulas for the multiplicities of the eigenvalues of the Laplacian of M are derived by means of the Poisson formula. At the end of the paper the information about M is examined which is contained in a finite part of spec(M). A partial answer is given in the Corollaries 3 and 6.  相似文献

Let M be a compact 3-manifold whose interior admits a complete hyperbolic structure. We let Λ(M) be the supremum of λ0(N) where N varies over all hyperbolic 3-manifolds homeomorphic to the interior of N. Similarly, we let D(M) be the infimum of the Hausdorff dimensions of limit sets of Kleinian groups whose quotients are homeomorphic to the interior of M. We observe that A(M) = D(M)(2 − D(M)) if M is not handlebody or a thickened torus. We characterize exactly when A(M) = 1 and D(M) = 1 in terms of the characteristic submanifold of the incompressible core of M.  相似文献

Let M be a n -dimensional manifold with the same homology than the n -dimensional sphere. A C 1 map f : M M M is called transversal if for all m ] N the graph of f m intersects transversally the diagonal of M 2 M at each point ( x , x ) such that x is a fixed point of f m . We study the minimal set of periods of f by using the Lefschetz numbers for periodic points. In the particular case that n is even, we also study the set of periods for the transversal holomorphic self-maps of M .  相似文献

Pérez-Izquierdo and Shestakov recently extended the PBW theorem to Malcev algebras. It follows from their construction that for any Malcev algebra M over a field of characteristic ≠ 2, 3 there is a representation of the universal nonassociative enveloping algebra U(M) by linear operators on the polynomial algebra P(M). For the nilpotent non-Lie Malcev algebra \(\mathbb{M}\) of dimension 5, we use this representation to determine explicit structure constants for \(U(\mathbb{M})\); from this it follows that \(U(\mathbb{M})\) is not power-associative. We obtain a finite set of generators for the alternator ideal \(I(\mathbb{M}) \subset U(\mathbb{M})\) and derive structure constants for the universal alternative enveloping algebra \(A(\mathbb{M}) = U(\mathbb{M})/I(\mathbb{M})\), a new infinite dimensional alternative algebra. We verify that the map \(\iota\colon \mathbb{M} \to A(\mathbb{M})\) is injective, and so \(\mathbb{M}\) is special.  相似文献

In this article we study the first eigenvalue of the Laplacian on a compact manifold using stable bundles and balanced bases. Our main result is the following: Let M be a compact Kähler manifold of complex dimension n and E a holomorphic vector bundle of rank r over M. If E is globally generated and its Gieseker point Te is stable, then for any Kähler metric g on M\(\lambda _1 (M,g) \leqslant \frac{{4\pi h^0 (E)}}{{r(h^0 (E) - r)}} \cdot \frac{{\left\langle {C_1 (E) \cup [\omega ]^{n - 1} ,[M]} \right\rangle }}{{(n - 1)!vol(M,[\omega ])}}\) where ω = ωg is the Kähler form associated to g.By this method we obtain, for example, a sharp upper bound for λ1 of Kähler metrics on complex Grassmannians.  相似文献

For a compact manifold M ofdim M=n≥4, we study two conformal invariants of a conformal class C on M. These are the Yamabe constant YC(M) and the Ln/2-norm WC(M) of the Weyl curvature. We prove that for any manifold M there exists a conformal class C such that the Yamabe constant YC(M) is arbitrarily close to the Yamabe invariant Y(M), and, at the same time, the constant WC(M) is arbitrarily large. We study the image of the mapYW:C→(YC(M), WC(M))∈R 2 near the line {(Y(M), w)|w∈R}. We also apply our results to certain classes of 4-manifolds, in particular, minimal compact Kähler surfaces of Kodaira dimension 0, 1 or 2.  相似文献

We consider a minimizer u: Rn Ω→n of Dirichlet's integral under the additional side condition In(.) ? M for a smooth domain M?RN. Imposing certain geometric conditions on M we show that the coincidence set {x?Ω: u(x) ? ?M) is of locally finite perimeter in Ω. Let G be a locally compact group and LUC(G) the C*-algebra of the bounded left uniformly continuous functions on G. The spectrum G LUC of LUC(G) is the universal semigroup compactification of G with respect to the joint continuity property: the multiplication on G×G LUC is jointly continuous. The paper studies the joint weak* continuity of multiplication on LUC(G)* and, in particular, the question how the joint continuity property of G LUC can be related to a property concerning the whole algebra LUC(G)*. The group G is naturally replaced by the measure algebra M(G), and LUC(G)* can be identified with M(G LUC), the space of regular Borel measures on G LUC. It is shown that the joint weak* continuity can fail even on bounded sets of M(G)×M(G LUC), but, on the other hand, the multiplication on M(G)×M(G LUC) is positive continuous in the sense of Jewett.  相似文献

For an affine connection on the tangent bundle T(M) obtained by lifting an affine connection on M, the structure of vector fields on T(M) which generate local one-parameter groups of projective and affine collineations is described. On the T(M) of a complete irreducible Riemann manifold, every projective collineation is affine. It is shown that if M is relative Cohen–Macaulay with respect to an ideal \(\mathfrak {a}\) of R, then \({\text {Ann}}_R(H_{\mathfrak {a}}^{{\text {cd}}(\mathfrak {a}, M)}(M))={\text {Ann}}_RM/L={\text {Ann}}_RM\) and \({\text {Ass}}_R (R/{\text {Ann}}_RM)\subseteq \{\mathfrak {p}\in {\text {Ass}}_R M|\,\mathrm{cd}(\mathfrak {a}, R/\mathfrak {p})={\text {cd}}(\mathfrak {a}, M)\},\) where L is the largest submodule of M such that \(\mathrm{cd}(\mathfrak {a}, L)< \mathrm{cd}(\mathfrak {a}, M)\). We also show that if \(H^{\dim M}_{\mathfrak {a}}(M)=0\), then \({\text {Att}}_R(H^{\dim M-1}_{\mathfrak {a}}(M))= \{\mathfrak {p}\in {\text {Supp}}(M)|\mathrm{cd}(\mathfrak {a}, R/\mathfrak {p})=\dim M-1\},\) and so the attached primes of \(H^{\dim M-1}_{\mathfrak {a}}(M)\) depend only on \({\text {Supp}}(M)\).
