We obtain the radial symmetry of the solution to a partially overdetermined boundary value problem in a convex cone in space forms by using the maximum principle for a suitable subharmonic function P and integral identities. In dimension 2, we prove Serrin-type results for partially overdetermined problems outside a convex cone. Furthermore, we obtain a Rellich identity for an eigenvalue problem with mixed boundary conditions in a cone.  相似文献

The uniqueness of solutions to two inverse Sturm–Liouville problems using three spectra is proven, based on the uniqueness of the solution-pair to an overdetermined Goursat–Cauchy boundary value problem. We discuss the uniqueness of the potential for a Dirichlet boundary condition at an arbitrary interior node, and for a Robin boundary condition at an arbitrary interior node, whereas at the exterior nodes we have Dirichlet boundary conditions in both situations. Here we are particularly concerned with potential functions that are L2(0,a).  相似文献

In a recent article, we achieved the well-posedness of linear hyperbolic initial and boundary value problems (IBVP) in a rectangle via semigroup method, and we found that there are only two elementary modes called hyperbolic and elliptic modes in the system. It seems that, there is only one set of boundary conditions for the hyperbolic mode, while there are infinitely many sets of boundary conditions for the elliptic mode, which can lead to well-posedness. In this article, we continue to consider linear hyperbolic IBVP in a rectangle in the constant coefficients case and we show that there are also infinitely many sets of boundary conditions for hyperbolic mode which will lead to the existence of a solution. We also have uniqueness in some special cases. The boundary conditions satisfy the reflection conditions introduced in Section 3, which turn out to be equivalent to the strictly dissipative conditions.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a second-order p-Laplacian dynamic equation on a periodic time scale subject to certain boundary value conditions. The variational structure of the above-mentioned boundary value problem is presented. Some new results on the existence of at least one or three distinct periodic solutions are established by means of the saddle point theorem, the least action principle as well as the three critical point theorem.  相似文献

We consider the inverse scattering problem of determining the shape of a partially coated obstacle D. To this end, we solve a scattering problem for the Helmholtz equation where the scattered field satisfies mixed Dirichlet–Neumann-impedance boundary conditions on the Lipschitz boundary of the scatterer D. Based on the analysis of the boundary integral system to the direct scattering problem, we propose how to reconstruct the shape of the obstacle D by using the linear sampling method.  相似文献

In this paper, we will study the lower bounds of the life span (the maximal existence time) of solutions to the initial‐boundary value problems with small initial data and zero Neumann boundary data on exterior domain for one‐dimensional general quasilinear wave equations utt?uxx=b(u,Du)uxx+F(u,Du). Our lower bounds of the life span of solutions in the general case and special case are shorter than that of the initial‐Dirichlet boundary value problem for one‐dimensional general quasilinear wave equations. We clarify that although the lower bounds in this paper are same as that in the case of Robin boundary conditions obtained in the earlier paper, however, the results in this paper are not the trivial generalization of that in the case of Robin boundary conditions because the fundamental Lemmas 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, and 2.7, that is, the priori estimates of solutions to initial‐boundary value problems with Neumann boundary conditions, are established differently, and then the specific estimates in this paper are different from that in the case of Robin boundary conditions. Another motivation for the author to write this paper is to show that the well‐posedness of problem 1.1 is the essential precondition of studying the lower bounds of life span of classical solutions to initial‐boundary value problems for general quasilinear wave equations. The lower bound estimates of life span of classical solutions to initial‐boundary value problems is consistent with the actual physical meaning. Finally, we obtain the sharpness on the lower bound of the life span 1.8 in the general case and 1.10 in the special case. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, we first consider the Cauchy problem for quasilinear strictly hyperbolic systems with weak linear degeneracy. The existence of global classical solutions for small and decay initial data was established in (Commun. Partial Differential Equations 1994; 19 :1263–1317; Nonlinear Anal. 1997; 28 :1299–1322; Chin. Ann. Math. 2004; 25B :37–56). We give a new, very simple proof of this result and also give a sharp point‐wise decay estimate of the solution. Then, we consider the mixed initial‐boundary‐value problem for quasilinear hyperbolic systems with nonlinear boundary conditions in the first quadrant. Under the assumption that the positive eigenvalues are weakly linearly degenerate, the global existence of classical solution with small and decay initial and boundary data was established in (Discrete Continuous Dynamical Systems 2005; 12 (1):59–78; Zhou and Yang, in press). We also give a simple proof of this result as well as a sharp point‐wise decay estimate of the solution. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, by means of a constructive method based on the existence and uniqueness of the semi‐global C2 solution, we establish the local exact boundary controllability for a kind of second‐order quasilinear hyperbolic systems. As an application, we obtain the one‐sided local exact boundary controllability for the first‐order quasilinear hyperbolic systems of diagonal form with boundary conditions in which the diagonal variables corresponding to the positive eigenvalues and those corresponding to the negative eigenvalues are decoupled. On a three–dimensional exterior domain Ω we consider the Dirichlet problem for the stationary Navier–Stokes system. We construct an approximation problem on the domain ΩR, which is the intersection of Ω with a sufficiently large ball, while we create nonlinear, but local artificial boundary conditions on the truncation boundary. We prove existence and uniqueness of the solutions to the approximating problem together with asymptotically precise pointwise error estimates as R tends to infinity.  相似文献

In this paper, we define the discrete p-Schrödinger operators on finite networks and discuss the existence of the Dirichlet eigenvalues and their eigenfunctions for the operators. We also provide various equivalent conditions for the existence of positive solutions for Dirichlet boundary value problems for the operators.  相似文献

We consider the boundary-value problem for the Gellerstedt equation
wherem=const > 0, in a mixed region; in contrast to the Tricomi problem, nonlocal conditions pointwise connecting the boundary valuesu(x, y) with the values on an inner curve and on the line of degeneracy are assumed on some arcs of the elliptic part of the boundary, and a condition with displacement is assumed on the characteristic parts of the boundary. Under certain constraints on the functions in the boundary conditions, we prove the unique solvability of the problem considered. In the present work, we consider the inverse problem for the impulsive Sturm–Liouville equations with eigenparameter-dependent boundary conditions on the whole interval (0,π) from interior spectral data. We prove two uniqueness theorems on the potential q(x) and boundary conditions for the interior inverse problem, and using the Weyl function technique, we show that if coefficients of the first boundary condition, that is, h1,h2, are known, then the potential function q(x) and coefficients of the second boundary condition, that is, H1,H2, are uniquely determined by information about the eigenfunctions at the midpoint of the interval and one spectrum or partial information on the eigenfunctions at some internal points and some of two spectra.  相似文献

In this paper, we use a mountain pass theorem with Cerami type conditions for locally Lipschitz functions to investigate the existence of at least one nontrivial solution for a differential inclusion problem involving the p-Laplacian and with nonlinear and nonsmooth boundary conditions. Moreover, by a symmetric version of the mountain pass theorem, we prove the existence of infinitely many solutions.  相似文献

In the Sobolev infinite-order space on a multidimensional strip region we obtain conditions for the existence of a function that, together with all its derivatives, assumes prescribed values on the boundary. An example shows that the sufficient conditions for the trace continuation obtained in the present paper have a significant advantage over those obtained earlier. Furthermore, for spaces of some special type our conditions for trace continuation are both sufficient and necessary. We extend previous results for the Neumann boundary value problem to the case of boundary data from the space $H^{-\frac{1}{2}+\varepsilon}(\Gamma), 0{<}{\varepsilon}{<}\frac{1}{2}We extend previous results for the Neumann boundary value problem to the case of boundary data from the space $H^{-\frac{1}{2}+\varepsilon}(\Gamma), 0{<}{\varepsilon}{<}\frac{1}{2}$, where Γ=?Ω is the boundary of a two‐dimensional cone Ω with angle β<π. We prove that for these boundary conditions the solution of the Helmholtz equation in Ω exists in the Sobolev space H1+ε(Ω), is unique and depends continuously on the boundary data. Moreover, we give the Sommerfeld representation for these solutions. This can be used to formulate explicit compatibility conditions on the data for regularity properties of the corresponding solution. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Mixed elliptic problems for differential operators A in a domain Ω with smooth boundary Y are studied in theform $$ Au = f \;\; {\rm in} \;\; {\rm \Omega} \, , \quad T_{\pm}u = g_{\pm} \;\; {\rm on} \;\; Y_{\pm} \, , $$ where Y± ? Y are manifolds with a common boundary Z, such that YY+ = Y and YY+ = Z, with boundary conditions T± on Y± (with smooth coefficients up to Z from the respective side) satisfying the Shapiro–Lopatinskij condition. We consider such problems in standard Sobolev spaces and characterise natural extra conditions on the interface Z with an analogue of Shapiro–Lopatinskij ellipticity for an associated transmission problem on the boundary; then the extended operator is Fredholm. The transmission operators on the boundary with respect to Z belong to a complete pseudo‐differential calculus, a modification of the algebra of boundary value problems without the transmission property. We construct parametrices of elliptic elements in that calculus, and we obtain parametrices of the original mixed problems under additional conditions on the interface. We consider the Zaremba problem and other mixed problems for the Laplace operator, determine the number of extra conditions and calculate the index of associated Fredholm operators. The object of this paper is to establish an expansion theorem for a regular right-definite eigenvalue problem with an eigenvalue parameter which is contained in the Schrödinger partial differential equation and in a general type of boundary conditions on the boundary of an arbitrary multiply connected bounded domain inR n (n2). We associate with this problem an essentially self-adjoint operator in a suitably defined Hilbert space and then we develop an associated eigenfunction expansion theorem.  相似文献

This is a note on a paper of De Simoi–Kaloshin–Wei. We show that by combining their techniques with the wave trace invariants of Guillemin–Melrose and the heat trace invariants of Zayed for the Laplacian with Robin boundary conditions, one can extend the Dirichlet/Neumann spectral rigidity results of De Simoi–Kaloshin–Wei to the case of Robin boundary conditions. We will consider the same generic subset as did by De Simoi–Kaloshin–Wei of smooth strictly convex ?2-symmetric planar domains sufficiently close to a circle, however we pair them with arbitrary ?2-symmetric smooth Robin functions on the boundary and of course allow deformations of Robin functions as well.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to the investigation of a parabolic partial differential equation with non‐local and time‐dependent boundary conditions arising from ductal carcinoma in situ model. Approximation solution of the present problem is implemented by the Ritz–Galerkin method, which is a first attempt at tackling parabolic equation with such non‐classical boundary conditions. In the process of dealing with the difficulty caused by integral term in non‐local boundary condition, we use a trick of introducing the transition function G(x,t) to convert non‐local boundary to another non‐classical boundary, which can be handled with the Ritz–Galerkin method. Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the technique in this paper. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
