The feasible set of a convex semi–infinite program is described by a possibly infinite system of convex inequality constraints. We want to obtain an upper bound for the distance of a given point from this set in terms of a constant multiplied by the value of the maximally violated constraint function in this point. Apart from this Lipschitz case we also consider error bounds of H?lder type, where the value of the residual of the constraints is raised to a certain power.?We give sufficient conditions for the validity of such bounds. Our conditions do not require that the Slater condition is valid. For the definition of our conditions, we consider the projections on enlarged sets corresponding to relaxed constraints. We present a condition in terms of projection multipliers, a condition in terms of Slater points and a condition in terms of descent directions. For the Lipschitz case, we give five equivalent characterizations of the validity of a global error bound.?We extend previous results in two directions: First, we consider infinite systems of inequalities instead of finite systems. The second point is that we do not assume that the Slater condition holds which has been required in almost all earlier papers. We propose finitely convergent methods for solving convex feasibility problems defined over a possibly infinite pool of constraints. Following other works in this area, we assume that the interior of the solution set is nonempty and that certain overrelaxation parameters form a divergent series. We combine our methods with a very general class of deterministic control sequences where, roughly speaking, we require that sooner or later we encounter a violated constraint if one exists. This requirement is satisfied, in particular, by the cyclic, repetitive and remotest set controls. Moreover, it is almost surely satisfied for random controls.

In this paper we consider convex feasibility problems where the feasible set is given as the intersection of a collection of closed convex sets. We assume that each set is specified algebraically as a convex inequality, where the associated convex function is general (possibly non-differentiable). For finding a point satisfying all the convex inequalities we design and analyze random projection algorithms using special subgradient iterations and extrapolated stepsizes. Moreover, the iterate updates are performed based on parallel random observations of several constraint components. For these minibatch stochastic subgradient-based projection methods we prove sublinear convergence results and, under some linear regularity condition for the functional constraints, we prove linear convergence rates. We also derive sufficient conditions under which these rates depend explicitly on the minibatch size. To the best of our knowledge, this work is the first deriving conditions that show theoretically when minibatch stochastic subgradient-based projection updates have a better complexity than their single-sample variants when parallel computing is used to implement the minibatch. Numerical results also show a better performance of our minibatch scheme over its non-minibatch counterpart.

In this work we consider a stochastic optimal control problem with either convex control constraints or finitely many equality and inequality constraints over the final state. Using the variational approach, we are able to obtain first and second order expansions for the state and cost function, around a local minimum. This fact allows us to prove general first order necessary condition and, under a geometrical assumption over the constraint set, second order necessary conditions are also established. We end by giving second order optimality conditions for problems with constraints on expectations of the final state.  相似文献

We consider the class of linear programs with infinitely many variables and constraints having the property that every constraint contains at most finitely many variables while every variable appears in at most finitely many constraints. Examples include production planning and equipment replacement over an infinite horizon. We form the natural dual linear programming problem and prove strong duality under a transversality condition that dual prices are asymptotically zero. That is, we show, under this transversality condition, that optimal solutions are attained in both primal and dual problems and their optimal values are equal. The transversality condition, and hence strong duality, is established for an infinite horizon production planning problem.This material is based on work supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. ECS-8700836.  相似文献

In recent years second-order sufficient conditions of an isolated local minimizer for convex composite optimization problems have been established. In this paper, second-order optimality conditions are obtained of aglobal minimizer for convex composite problems with a non-finite valued convex function and a twice strictly differentiable function by introducing a generalized representation condition. This result is applied to a minimization problem with a closed convex set constraint which is shown to satisfy the basic constraint qualification. In particular, second-order necessary and sufficient conditions of a solution for a variational inequality problem with convex composite inequality constraints are obtained. © 1998 The Mathematical Programming Society, Inc. We consider the optimal control of a semilinear parabolic equation with pointwise bound constraints on the control and finitely many integral constraints on the final state. Using the standard Robinson’s constraint qualification, we provide a second order necessary condition over a set of strictly critical directions. The main feature of this result is that the qualification condition needed for the second order analysis is the same as for classical finite-dimensional problems and does not imply the uniqueness of the Lagrange multiplier. We establish also a second order sufficient optimality condition which implies, for problems with a quadratic Hamiltonian, the equivalence between solutions satisfying the quadratic growth property in the L 1 and \(L^{\infty }\) topologies.  相似文献

In this note we introduce the concept of vector network equilibrium flows when the ordering cone is the union of finitely many closed and convex cones. We show that the set of vector network equilibrium flows is equal to the intersection of finitely many sets, where each set is a collection of vector equilibrium flows with respect to a closed and convex cone. Sufficient and necessary conditions for a vector equilibrium flow are presented in terms of scalar equilibrium flows.  相似文献

The classical multi-set split feasibility problem seeks a point in the intersection of finitely many closed convex domain constraints, whose image under a linear mapping also lies in the intersection of finitely many closed convex range constraints. Split feasibility generalizes important inverse problems including convex feasibility, linear complementarity, and regression with constraint sets. When a feasible point does not exist, solution methods that proceed by minimizing a proximity function can be used to obtain optimal approximate solutions to the problem. We present an extension of the proximity function approach that generalizes the linear split feasibility problem to allow for non-linear mappings. Our algorithm is based on the principle of majorization–minimization, is amenable to quasi-Newton acceleration, and comes complete with convergence guarantees under mild assumptions. Furthermore, we show that the Euclidean norm appearing in the proximity function of the non-linear split feasibility problem can be replaced by arbitrary Bregman divergences. We explore several examples illustrating the merits of non-linear formulations over the linear case, with a focus on optimization for intensity-modulated radiation therapy.  相似文献

We investigate regularity conditions in optimal control problems with mixed constraints of a general geometric type, in which a closed non-convex constraint set appears. A closely related question to this issue concerns the derivation of necessary optimality conditions under some regularity conditions on the constraints. By imposing strong and weak regularity condition on the constraints, we provide necessary optimality conditions in the form of Pontryagin maximum principle for the control problem with mixed constraints. The optimality conditions obtained here turn out to be more general than earlier results even in the case when the constraint set is convex. The proofs of our main results are based on a series of technical lemmas which are gathered in the Appendix.  相似文献

The phrase convex optimization refers to the minimization of a convex function over a convex set. However the feasible convex set need not be always described by convex inequalities. In this article we consider a convex feasible set which is described by inequality constraints that are locally Lipschitz and not necessarily convex or differentiable. We show that if the Slater constraint qualification and a simple non-degeneracy condition is satisfied then the Karush–Kuhn–Tucker type optimality condition is both necessary and sufficient.  相似文献

In the research of mathematical programming, duality theorems are essential and important elements. Recently, Lagrange duality theorems for separable convex programming have been studied. Tseng proves that there is no duality gap in Lagrange duality for separable convex programming without any qualifications. In other words, although the infimum value of the primal problem equals to the supremum value of the Lagrange dual problem, Lagrange multiplier does not always exist. Jeyakumar and Li prove that Lagrange multiplier always exists without any qualifications for separable sublinear programming. Furthermore, Jeyakumar and Li introduce a necessary and sufficient constraint qualification for Lagrange duality theorem for separable convex programming. However, separable convex constraints do not always satisfy the constraint qualification, that is, Lagrange duality does not always hold for separable convex programming. In this paper, we study duality theorems for separable convex programming without any qualifications. We show that a separable convex inequality system always satisfies the closed cone constraint qualification for quasiconvex programming and investigate a Lagrange-type duality theorem for separable convex programming. In addition, we introduce a duality theorem and a necessary and sufficient optimality condition for a separable convex programming problem, whose constraints do not satisfy the Slater condition.  相似文献

We consider a time optimization problem for two-dimensional nonlinear control systems. For a constraint for the control vector u we take a convex polygon U. We obtain effective sufficient conditions under which the time-optimal control is equivalent in the Lebesgue sense to a piecewise constant control that has finitely many points of discontinuity and ranges in the set of vertices of U. For a kind of fractional programming problem that the objective functions are the ratio of two DC (difference of convex) functions with finitely many convex constraints, in this paper, its dual problems are constructed, weak and strong duality assertions are given, and some sufficient and necessary optimality conditions which characterize their optimal solutions are obtained. Some recently obtained Farkas-type results for fractional programming problems that the objective functions are the ratio of a convex function to a concave function with finitely many convex constraints are the special cases of the general results of this paper.  相似文献

Under general multivariate regular variation conditions, the extreme Value-at-Risk of a portfolio can be expressed as an integral of a known kernel with respect to a generally unknown spectral measure supported on the unit simplex. The estimation of the spectral measure is challenging in practice and virtually impossible in high dimensions. This motivates the problem studied in this work, which is to find universal lower and upper bounds of the extreme Value-at-Risk under practically estimable constraints. That is, we study the infimum and supremum of the extreme Value-at-Risk functional, over the infinite dimensional space of all possible spectral measures that meet a finite set of constraints. We focus on extremal coefficient constraints, which are popular and easy to interpret in practice. Our contributions are twofold. First, we show that optimization problems over an infinite dimensional space of spectral measures are in fact dual problems to linear semi-infinite programs (LSIPs) – linear optimization problems in Euclidean space with an uncountable set of linear constraints. This allows us to prove that the optimal solutions are in fact attained by discrete spectral measures supported on finitely many atoms. Second, in the case of balanced portfolia, we establish further structural results for the lower bounds as well as closed form solutions for both the lower- and upper-bounds of extreme Value-at-Risk in the special case of a single extremal coefficient constraint. The solutions unveil important connections to the Tawn–Molchanov max-stable models. The results are illustrated with two applications: a real data example and closed-form formulae in a market plus sectors framework.  相似文献

In this paper we report new results on the regularity of optimal controls for dynamic optimization problems with functional inequality state constraints, a convex time-dependent control constraint and a coercive cost function. Recently, it has been shown that the linear independence condition on active state constraints, present in the earlier literature, can be replaced by a less restrictive, positive linear independence condition, that requires linear independence merely with respect to non-negative weighting parameters, provided the control constraint set is independent of the time variable. We show that, if the control constraint set, regarded as a time-dependent multifunction, is merely Lipschitz continuous with respect to the time variable, then optimal controls can fail to be Lipschitz continuous. In these circumstances, however, a weaker Hölder continuity-like regularity property can be established. On the other hand, Lipschitz continuity of optimal controls is guaranteed for time-varying control sets under a positive linear independence hypothesis, when the control constraint sets are described, at each time, by a finite collection of functional inequalities.  相似文献

In this paper we first establish a Lagrange multiplier condition characterizing a regularized Lagrangian duality for quadratic minimization problems with finitely many linear equality and quadratic inequality constraints, where the linear constraints are not relaxed in the regularized Lagrangian dual. In particular, in the case of a quadratic optimization problem with a single quadratic inequality constraint such as the linearly constrained trust-region problems, we show that the Slater constraint qualification (SCQ) is necessary and sufficient for the regularized Lagrangian duality in the sense that the regularized duality holds for each quadratic objective function over the constraints if and only if (SCQ) holds. A new theorem of the alternative for systems involving both equality constraints and two quadratic inequality constraints plays a key role. We also provide classes of quadratic programs, including a class of CDT-subproblems with linear equality constraints, where (SCQ) ensures regularized Lagrangian duality.  相似文献

In this paper, several Lagrange multiplier characterizations of the solution set of a convex infinite programming problem are given. Characterizations of solution sets of cone-constrained convex programs are derived as well. The procedure is then adopted to a semi-convex problem with convex constraints. For this problem, we present firstly a necessary and sufficient condition for optimality and secondly a characterization of its optimal solution set, based on a Lagrange multiplier associated with a given solution and on directional derivatives of the objective function.   相似文献
