In this paper, we determine the critical time, when a weak discontinuity in the shallow water equations culminates into a bore. Invariance group properties of the governing system of partial differential equations (PDEs), admitting Lie group of point transformations with commuting infinitesimal operators, are presented. Some appropriate canonical variables are characterized that transform equations at hand to an equivalent form, which admits non-constant solutions. The propagation of weak discontinuities is studied in the medium characterized by the particular solution of the governing system.  相似文献

Left-symmetric algebras (LSAs) are Lie admissible algebras arising from geometry. The leftinvariant affine structures on a Lie group {G} correspond bijectively to LSA-structures on its Lie algebra. Moreover if a Lie group acts simply transitively as affine transformations on a vector space, then its Lie algebra admits a complete LSA-structure. In this paper we study simple LSAs having only trivial two-sided ideals. Some natural examples and deformations are presented. We classify simple LSAs in low dimensions and prove results about the Lie algebra of simple LSAs using a canonical root space decomposition. A special class of complete LSAs is studied. The problem of group classification of quasilinear elliptic-type equations in the two-dimensional space is considered. We obtain the lists of all equations of this class that admit the semisimple Lie algebras of symmetry operators and the Lie algebras of symmetry operators with nontrivial Levi decomposition. __________ Translated from Ukrains’kyi Matematychnyi Zhurnal, Vol. 59, No. 11, pp. 1532–1545, November, 2007.  相似文献

We study applications of a new class of infinite-dimensional Lie algebras, called Lax operator algebras, which goes back to the works by I. Krichever and S. Novikov on finite-zone integration related to holomorphic vector bundles and on Lie algebras on Riemann surfaces. Lax operator algebras are almost graded Lie algebras of current type. They were introduced by I. Krichever and the author as a development of the theory of Lax operators on Riemann surfaces due to I. Krichever, and further investigated in a joint paper by M. Schlichenmaier and the author. In this article we construct integrable hierarchies of Lax equations of that type. Published in Russian in Trudy Matematicheskogo Instituta imeni V.A. Steklova, 2008, Vol. 263, pp. 216–226. Dedicated to S.P. Novikov on the occasion of his 70th birthday  相似文献

We discuss integrable models of quantum field theory and statistical mechanics. The dynamics and kinematics of these models are defined by Hamiltonians with symmetries determined by Lie algebras. The paper is devoted to the characterization of models such that the root vectors of their symmetry algebras run two orbits under the action of the Weyl group. Such properties possess root systems of the type B N , C N , and G 2. The main focus is on models with the symmetry of algebras B N . In this case the main characteristics of the process are obtained from the system of Yang-Baxter equation and the reflection equations. We consider the Calogero-Moser and Calogero-Sutherland models and also the formalisms of the Lax and Dunkl operators. The connection between these formalisms and method of describing these models in terms of the generalized Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations with the system of roots of the type B N by the example of the Gaudin model with reflection are discussed. Examples of many-particle systems that interact with each other with reflections are presented.__________Translated from Sovremennaya Matematika i Ee Prilozheniya (Contemporary Mathematics and Its Applications), Vol. 10, Suzdal Conference-4, 2003.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to extend the symmetric representation of the rigid body equations from the group SO (n) to other groups. These groups are matrix subgroups of the general linear group that are defined by a quadratic matrix identity. Their corresponding Lie algebras include several classical semisimple matrix Lie algebras. The approach is to start with an optimal control problem on these groups that generates geodesics for a left-invariant metric. Earlier work by Bloch, Crouch, Marsden, and Ratiu defines the symmetric representation of the rigid body equations, which is obtained by solving the same optimal control problem in the particular case of the Lie group SO (n). This paper generalizes this symmetric representation to a wider class of matrix groups satisfying a certain quadratic matrix identity. We consider the relationship between this symmetric representation of the generalized rigid body equations and the generalized rigid body equations themselves. A discretization of this symmetric representation is constructed making use of the symmetry, which in turn give rise to numerical algorithms to integrate the generalized rigid body equations for the given class of matrix Lie groups. We consider shallow water theory to study the self-similar gravity currents that describe the motion of a heavy fluid flowing into another lighter ambient fluid. Gratton and Vigo investigated the shallow water theory representing the self-similar gravity currents by using dimensional analysis [J. Gratton, C. Vigo, Self-similarity gravity currents with variable inflow revisited: Plane currents, J. Fluid. Mech. 258 (1994) 77–104]. But in this study, the self-similarity solutions of the one-layer shallow-water equations representing gravity currents are investigated by using Lie group analysis and it is shown that Lie group analysis is the generalization of the dimensional analysis for investigating the self-similarity solutions of the one-layer shallow-water equations. Applying Lie group theory, reduced equations of the shallow water equations are found. Therefore, it becomes possible to obtain the similarity forms depending on the Lie group parameters and also the self-similarity solutions for the special values of these group parameters.  相似文献

The aim of this article is to introduce the notion of Hom-Lie color algebras. This class of algebras is a natural generalization of the Hom-Lie algebras as well as a special case of the quasi-hom-Lie algebras. In the article, homomorphism relations between Hom-Lie color algebras are defined and studied. We present a way to obtain Hom-Lie color algebras from the classical Lie color algebras along with algebra endomorphisms and offer some applications. Also, we introduce a multiplier σ on the abelian group Γ and provide constructions of new Hom-Lie color algebras from old ones by the σ-twists. Finally, we explore some general classes of Hom-Lie color admissible algebras and describe all these classes via G–Hom-associative color algebras, where G is a subgroup of the symmetric group S 3.  相似文献

We analyze representations of Schlessinger-Stasheff associative homotopy Lie algebras by higher-order differential operators. W-transformations of chiral embeddings of a complex curve related with the Toda equations into Kähler manifolds are shown to be endowed with the homotopy Lie-algebra structures. Extensions of the Wronskian determinants preserving Schlessinger-Stasheff algebras are constructed for the case of n ≥ 1 independent variables.  相似文献

Xu introduced a family of root-tree-diagram nilpotent Lie algebras of differential operators, in connection with evolution partial differential equations. We generalized his notion to more general oriented tree diagrams. These algebras are natural analogues of the maximal nilpotent Lie subalgebras of finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras. In this article, we use Hodge Laplacian to study the cohomology of these Lie algebras. The “total rank conjecture” and “b 2-conjecture” for the algebras are proved. Moreover, we find the generating functions of the Betti numbers by means of Young tableaux for the Lie algebras associated with certain tree diagrams of single branch point. By these functions and Euler–Poincaré principle, we obtain analogues of the denominator identity for finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras. The result is a natural generalization of the Bott's classical result in the case of special linear Lie algebras.  相似文献

We discuss various compatibility criteria for overdetermined systems of PDEs generalizing the approach to formal integrability via brackets of differential operators. Then we give sufficient conditions that guarantee that a PDE possessing a Lie algebra of symmetries has invariant solutions. Finally we discuss models of equations with large symmetry algebras, which eventually lead to integration in closed form.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain exact solutions to the nonlinear system of partial differential equations (PDEs), describing the one dimensional modified shallow water equations, using invariance group properties of the governing system. Lie group of point symmetries with commuting infinitesimal operators, are presented. The symmetry generators are used for constructing similarity variables which lead the governing system of PDEs to system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs); in some cases, it is possible to solve these equations exactly. A particular solution to the governing system, which exhibits space-time dependence, is used to study the evolutionary behavior of weak discontinuities.  相似文献

The class of extended Lie-type algebras contains the ones of associative algebras, Lie algebras, Leibniz algebras, dual Leibniz algebras, pre-Lie algebras, and Lie-type algebras, etc. We focus on the class of extended Lie-type algebras graded by an Abelian group G and study its structure, by stating, under certain conditions, a second Wedderburn-type theorem for this class of algebras.  相似文献

Flag partial differential equations naturally appear in the problem of decomposing the polynomial algebra (symmetric tensor) over an irreducible module of a Lie algebra into the direct sum of its irreducible submodules. Many important linear partial differential equations in physics and geometry are also of flag type. In this paper, we use the grading technique in algebra to develop the methods of solving such equations. In particular, we find new special functions by which we are able to explicitly give the solutions of the initial value problems of a large family of constant-coefficient linear partial differential equations in terms of their coefficients. As applications to representations of Lie algebras, we find certain explicit irreducible polynomial representations of the Lie algebras $sl(n,\mathbb {F}),\;so(n,\mathbb {F})$ and the simple Lie algebra of type G 2.  相似文献

We investigate solutions for a particular class of linear equations in dendriform algebras. Motivations as well as several applications are provided. The latter follow naturally from the intimate link between dendriform algebras and Rota–Baxter operators, e.g. the Riemann integral map or Jackson's q-integral.  相似文献

We prove a one-to-one correspondence between differential symmetry breaking operators for equivariant vector bundles over two homogeneous spaces and certain homomorphisms for representations of two Lie algebras, in connection with branching problems of the restriction of representations. We develop a new method (F-method) based on the algebraic Fourier transform for generalized Verma modules, which characterizes differential symmetry breaking operators by means of certain systems of partial differential equations. In contrast to the setting of real flag varieties, continuous symmetry breaking operators of Hermitian symmetric spaces are proved to be differential operators in the holomorphic setting. In this case, symmetry breaking operators are characterized by differential equations of second order via the F-method.  相似文献
