Auslander’s representation dimension measures how far a finite dimensional algebra is away from being of finite representation type. In [1], M. Auslander proved that a finite dimensional algebra A is of finite representation type if and only if the representation dimension of A is at most 2. Recently, R. Rouquier proved that there are finite dimensional algebras of an arbitrarily large finite representation dimension. One of the exciting open problems is to show that all finite dimensional algebras of tame representation type have representation dimension at most 3. We prove that this is true for all domestic weakly symmetric algebras over algebraically closed fields having simply connected Galois coverings.  相似文献

Cartan matrices of selfinjective algebras of tubular type   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The Cartan matrix of a finite dimensional algebra A is an important combinatorial invariant reflecting frequently structural properties of the algebra and its module category. For example, one of the important features of the modular representation theory of finite groups is the nonsingularity of Cartan matrices of the associated group algebras (Brauer’s theorem). Recently, the class of all tame selfinjective algebras having simply connected Galois coverings and the stable Auslander-Reiten quiver consisting only of stable tubes has been shown to be the class of selfinjective algebras of tubular type, that is, the orbit algebras /G of the repetitive algebras of tubular algebras B with respect to the actions of admissible groups G of automorphisms of . The aim of the paper is to describe the determinants of the Cartan matrices of selfinjective algebras of tubular type and derive some consequences.  相似文献

Let A be an artin algebra over a commutative artin ring R and ind A the category of indecomposable finitely generated right A-modules. Denote to be the full subcategory of ind A formed by the modules X whose all predecessors in ind A have projective dimension at most one, and by the full subcategory of ind A formed by the modules X whose all successors in ind A have injective dimension at most one. Recently, two classes of artin algebras A with co-finite in ind A, quasi-tilted algebras and generalized double tilted algebras, have been extensively investigated. The aim of the paper is to show that these two classes of algebras exhaust the class of all artin algebras A for which is co-finite in ind A, and derive some consequences. Graham and Lehrer have defined cellular algebras and developed a theory that allows in particular to classify simple representations of finite dimensional cellular algebras. Many classes of finite dimensional algebras, including various Hecke algebras and diagram algebras, have been shown to be cellular, and the theory due to Graham and Lehrer successfully has been applied to these algebras. We will extend the framework of cellular algebras to algebras that need not be finite dimensional over a field. Affine Hecke algebras of type A and infinite dimensional diagram algebras like the affine Temperley–Lieb algebras are shown to be examples of our definition. The isomorphism classes of simple representations of affine cellular algebras are shown to be parameterised by the complement of finitely many subvarieties in a finite disjoint union of affine varieties. In this way, representation theory of non-commutative algebras is linked with commutative algebra. Moreover, conditions on the cell chain are identified that force the algebra to have finite global cohomological dimension and its derived category to admit a stratification; these conditions are shown to be satisfied for the affine Hecke algebra of type A if the quantum parameter is not a root of the Poincaré polynomial.  相似文献

In the paper, we introduce a wide class of domestic finite dimensional algebras over an algebraically closed field which are obtained from the hereditary algebras of Euclidean type , n≥1, by iterated one-point extensions by two-ray modules. We prove that these algebras are domestic and their Auslander-Reiten quivers admit infinitely many nonperiodic connected components with infinitely many orbits with respect to the action of the Auslander-Reiten translation. Moreover, we exhibit a wide class of almost sincere domestic simply connected algebras of large global dimensions.  相似文献

When the base connected cochain DG algebra is cohomologically bounded, it is proved that the difference between the amplitude of a compact DG module and that of the DG algebra is just the projective dimension of that module. This yields the unboundedness of the cohomology of non-trivial regular DG algebras. When A is a regular DG algebra such that H(A) is a Koszul graded algebra, H(A) is proved to have the finite global dimension. And we give an example to illustrate that the global dimension of H(A) may be infinite, if the condition that H(A) is Koszul is weakened to the condition that A is a Koszul DG algebra. For a general regular DG algebra A, we give some equivalent conditions for the Gorensteiness. For a finite connected DG algebra A, we prove that Dc(A) and Dc(A op) admit Auslander-Reiten triangles if and only if A and A op are Gorenstein DG algebras. When A is a non-trivial regular DG algebra such that H(A) is locally finite, Dc(A) does not admit Auslander-Reiten triangles. We turn to study the existence of Auslander-Reiten triangles in Dlfb(A) and Dlfb (A op) instead, when A is a regular DG algebra. Abstract

Let A be an absolute valued algebra. In El-Mallah (El-Mallah,M. L. (1988). Absolute valued algebras with an involution. Arch. Math. 51: 39–49) we proved that,if A is algebraic with an involution, then A is finite dimensional. This result had been generalized in El-Amin et al. (El-Amin,K.,Ramirez,M. I.,Rodriguez,A. (1997). Absolute valued algebraic algebras are finite dimensional. J. Algebra 195:295–307),by showing that the condition “algebraic” is sufficient for A to be finite dimensional. In the present paper we give a generalization of the concept “algebraic”,which will be called “semi-algebraic”,and prove that if A is semi-algebraic with an involution then A is finite dimensional. We give an example of an absolute valued algebra which is semi-algebraic and infinite dimensional. This example shows that the assumption “with an involution” cannot be removed in our result.  相似文献

We study Auslander's representation dimension of Artin algebras, which is by definition the minimal projective dimension of coherent functors on modules which are both generators and cogenerators. We show the following statements: (1) if an Artin algebra A is stably hereditary, then the representation dimension of A is at most 3. (2) If two Artin algebras are stably equivalent of Morita type, then they have the same representation dimension. Particularly, if two self-injective algebras are derived equivalent, then they have the same representation dimension. (3) Any incidence algebra of a finite partially ordered set over a field has finite representation dimension. Moreover, we use results on quasi-hereditary algebras to show that (4) the Auslander algebra of a Nakayama algebra has finite representation dimension.  相似文献

Motivated by the study of invariant rings of finite groups on the first Weyl algebras A 1 and finding interesting families of new noetherian rings, a class of algebras similar to U(sl 2) was introduced and studied by Smith. Since the introduction of these algebras, research efforts have been focused on understanding their weight modules, and many important results were already obtained. But it seems that not much has been done on the part of nonweight modules. In this paper, we generalize Kostant’s results on the Whittaker model for the universal enveloping algebras U(g) of finite dimensional semisimple Lie algebras g to Smith’s algebras. As a result, a complete classification of irreducible Whittaker modules (which are definitely infinite dimensional) for Smith’s algebras is obtained, and the submodule structure of any Whittaker module is also explicitly described.   相似文献

We study NQM algebras A having an orthogonal automorphism of finite order n 3 (called Z n -orthograded NQM algebras). The Z 3-orthograded NQM algebras of dimension 7 are treated in more detail. In particular, we find all algebras A which are not bi-isotropic in this class, and for every algebra A, determine an automorphism group Aut,A and an orthogonal automorphism group Ortaut,A. In constructing and classifying (up to isomorphism) NQM algebras, use is made of orthogonal decompositions of the algebras.  相似文献

In this article, we study the existence of gradings on finite dimensional associative algebras. We prove that a connected algebra A does not have a nontrivial grading if and only if A is basic, its quiver has one vertex, and its group of outer automorphisms is unipotent. We apply this result to prove that up to graded Morita equivalence there do not exist nontrivial gradings on the blocks of group algebras with quaternion defect groups and one isomorphism class of simple modules.  相似文献

We study representations of the Loop Kac-Moody Lie algebra 𝔤 ?A, where 𝔤 is any Kac-Moody algebra and A is a ring of Laurent polynomials in n commuting variables. In particular, we study representations with finite dimensional weight spaces and their graded versions. When we specialize 𝔤 to be a finite dimensional or affine Lie algebra we obtain modules for toroidal Lie algebras.  相似文献

By a theorem due to the first author, the bounded derived category of a finite dimensional algebra over a field embeds fully faithfully into the stable category over its repetitive algebra. This embedding is an equivalence if the algebra is of finite global dimension. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between the derived category and the stable category over the repetitive algebra from various points of view for algebras of infinite global dimension. The most satisfactory results are obtained for Gorenstein algebras, especially for selfinjective algebras.  相似文献

Let Λ be a finite dimensional algebra over an algebraically closed field k. We will investigate homological properties of piecewise hereditary algebras Λ. In particular we give lower and upper bounds of the strong global dimension, show the behavior of the strong global dimension under one point extensions and tilting. Moreover we show that the “pieces” of modΛ have Auslander–Reiten sequences.  相似文献

Let H be a finite dimensional Hopf algebra acting on a right noetherian algebra A and assume that the trace function [tcirc] : AA H is surjective. Then A is right PBN if and only if so is A H . This extends the result of García-del Río for group actions which answered a question of Fisher-Osterburg, and the result of Nǎstǎsescu-Dǎscǎlescu for group graded algebras.  相似文献

Let A be an absolute valued algebra with left unit. We prove that if A contains a nonzero central element, then A is finite dimensional and is isomorphic to \mathbb R, \mathbb C{\mathbb {R}, \mathbb {C}} or new classes of four and eight–dimensional absolute valued algebras with left unit. This is more general than those results in [2] and [3].  相似文献

Abstract

Integrals in Hopf algebras are an essential tool in studying finite dimensional Hopf algebras and their action on rings. Over fields it has been shown by Sweedler that the existence of integrals in a Hopf algebra is equivalent to the Hopf algebra being finite dimensional. In this paper we examine how much of this is true Hopf algebras over rings. We show that over any commutative ring R that is not a field there exists a Hopf algebra H over R containing a non-zero integral but not being finitely generated as R-module. On the contrary we show that Sweedler's equivalence is still valid for free Hopf algebras or projective Hopf algebras over integral domains. Analogously for a left H-module algebra A we study the influence of non-zero left A#H-linear maps from A to A#H on H being finitely generated as R-module. Examples and application to separability are given.  相似文献

Aichinger et al. (2011) have proved that every finite algebra with a cube-term (equivalently, with a parallelogram-term; equivalently, having few subpowers) is finitely related. Thus finite algebras with cube terms are inherently finitely related??every expansion of the algebra by adding more operations is finitely related. In this paper, we show that conversely, if A is a finite idempotent algebra and every idempotent expansion of A is finitely related, then A has a cube-term. We present further characterizations of the class of finite idempotent algebras having cube-terms, one of which yields, for idempotent algebras with finitely many basic operations and a fixed finite universe A, a polynomial-time algorithm for determining if the algebra has a cube-term. We also determine the maximal non-finitely related idempotent clones over A. The number of these clones is finite.  相似文献

To every von Neumann algebra, one can associate a (multiplicative) determinant defined on the invertible elements of the algebra with range a subgroup of the Abelian group of the invertible elements of the center of the von Neumann algebra. This determinant is a normalization of the usual determinant for finite von Neumann algebras of type I, for the type II1-case it is the Fuglede-Kadison determinant, and for properly infinite von Neumann algebras the determinant is constant equal to 1. It is proved that every invertible element of determinant 1 is a product of a finite number of commutators. This extends a result of T. Fack and P. de la Harpe for II1-factors. As a corollary, it follows that the determinant induces an injection from the algebraicK 1-group of the von Neumann algebra into the Abelian group of the invertible elements of the center. Its image is described. Another group,K 1 w (A), which is generated by elements in matrix algebras overA that induce injective right multiplication maps, is also computed. We use the Fuglede-Kadison determinant to detect elements in the Whitehead group Wh(G).Partially supported by NSF Grant DMS-9103327.  相似文献
