A generalization of the classical Caffarelli–Kohn–Nirenberg inequality is obtained in the setting of Orlicz–Sobolev spaces. As applications, we prove a compact embedding result, and we establish the existence of weak solutions of the Dirichlet problem for a nonhomogeneous and degenerate/singular elliptic PDE.  相似文献

For a class of finite shift planes introduced by Coulter and Matthews, we give a set of representatives for the isomorphism types, determine all automorphisms and describe all polarities explicitly. The planes in question are the only known examples of finite shift planes that are not translation planes. Each non-desarguesian Coulter–Matthews plane admits precisely two conjugacy classes of orthogonal polarities. In addition, each Coulter–Matthews plane of square order admits exactly one conjugacy class of unitary polarities. We prove that most of the corresponding unitals are not classical.  相似文献

We propose a novel class of temporo-spatial Ornstein–Uhlenbeck processes as solutions to Lévy-driven Volterra equations with additive noise and multiplicative drift. After formulating conditions for the existence and uniqueness of solutions, we derive an explicit solution formula and discuss distributional properties such as stationarity, second-order structure and short versus long memory. Furthermore, we analyze in detail the path properties of the solution process. In particular, we introduce different notions of càdlàg paths in space and time and establish conditions for the existence of versions with these regularity properties. The theoretical results are accompanied by illustrative examples.  相似文献

This paper develops new relationships between the recently constructed semidefinite programming perfect duality and the earlier perfect duality achieved for linear semi–infinite programming. Applying the linear semi–infinite perfect duality construction to semidefinite programming yields a larger feasible set than the one obtained by the newly constructed semidefinite programming regularized perfect dual. Gierer–Meinhardt system as a molecularly plausible model has been proposed to formalize the observation for pattern formation. In this paper, the Gierer–Meinhardt model without the saturating term is considered. By the linear stability analysis, we not only give out the conditions ensuring the stability and Turing instability of the positive equilibrium but also find the parameter values where possible Turing–Hopf and spatial resonance bifurcation can occur. Then we develop the general algorithm for the calculations of normal form associated with codimension-2 spatial resonance bifurcation to better understand the dynamics neighboring of the bifurcating point. The spatial resonance bifurcation reveals the interaction of two steady state solutions with different modes. Numerical simulations are employed to illustrate the theoretical results for both the Turing–Hopf bifurcation and spatial resonance bifurcation. Some expected solutions including stable spatially inhomogeneous periodic solutions and coexisting stable spatially steady state solutions evolve from Turing–Hopf bifurcation and spatial resonance bifurcation respectively.  相似文献

We study the connection between the p-Talagrand inequality and the q-logarithmic Sololev inequality for conjugate exponents p ≥ 2, q ≤ 2 in proper geodesic metric spaces. By means of a general Hamilton–Jacobi semigroup we prove that these are equivalent, and moreover equivalent to the hypercontractivity of the Hamilton–Jacobi semigroup. Our results generalize those of Lott and Villani. They can be applied to deduce the p-Talagrand inequality in the sub-Riemannian setting of the Heisenberg group.  相似文献

The length of day series during the period of 1962.0—2000.0, the atmospheric angular momentum and the Southern Oscillation Index are adopted to analyze the relationships among the ENSO events that have occurred since 1960, the changes in the length of day and the atmospheric angular momentum. Attention is particularly given to the different effects of the 1982—1983 and 1997—1998 ENSO events on the variations of Earth rotation. The synthetic excitation effects of multi-scale atmospheric oscillations on the anomalous variations of the interannual rates of Earth rotation are revealed by means of the time-frequency spectrum of the wavelet transform.  相似文献

The geophysical quantitative excitation on seasonal polar wobble of Earth Rotation has not been well achieved so far. The atmospheric, hydrologic and oceanic angular momentum variations are investigated from monthly values simulated by a coupled ocean-atmosphere general circulation model. The simulated equatorial AAM functions agree well with that from the JMA operational analysis in 90°:E direction, but disagree along Greenwich meridian. As for the annual cycle, not only the hydrologic and oceanic excitations partly match the residuals between geodetic functions of polar wobble and JMA AAM functions, but also the combinations with NCEP and JMA analysis AAM functions are better than those estimated from NCAR-CSM1 climate model.  相似文献

We prove finite-time blowup for spherically symmetric and negative energy solutions of Hartree–Fock and Hartree–Fock–Bogoliubov-type equations, which describe the evolution of attractive fermionic systems (e.g. white dwarfs). Our main results are twofold: first, we extend the recent blowup result of Hainzl and Schlein (Comm. Math. Phys. 287:705–714, 2009) to Hartree–Fock equations with infinite rank solutions and a general class of Newtonian type interactions. Second, we show the existence of finite-time blowup for spherically symmetric solutions of a Hartree–Fock–Bogoliubov model, where an angular momentum cutoff is introduced. We also explain the key difficulties encountered in the full Hartree–Fock–Bogoliubov theory.  相似文献

We consider the free boundary problem for the Navier–Stokes equations governing a nonstationary motion of a layer of a viscous incompressible liquid that covers the surface of a rigid ball rotating around a fixed axis with constant angular velocity ω. The liquid is subject to the gravitation force generated by the mass of the ball. The self-gravitation forces between the liquid particles and capillary forces on the free surface are not taken into account. We consider the problem of stability of the regime of the rigid rotation of the liquid with the same angular velocity and prove that it is stable if |ω| is less than a certain constant. A formal perturbation scheme is developed to determine originalmodulation equations for laminar finite-amplitude non-linearwaves in an incompressible fluid. Three idealized problems areanalysed. The modulation equations comprise conservation ofwaves, averaged conditions for conservation of mass, momentum,kinetic energy and angular momentum and the averaged projectionof the Navier–Stokes equations onto the vorticity vector.The last of these modulation equations, which is related tovortex stretching, only appears in 3D problems. The techniqueof Reynolds averaging is also employed to obtain equations forthe mean velocities and pressure. The Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokesequations correspond to the modulation equations for conservationof mass and momentum. However, the Reynolds stress transportequations are shown to be inconsistent with the other necessarymodulation equations. In two further idealized problems, exactsolutions of the Navier–Stokes equations are obtainedby employing the modulation equations.  相似文献

The unitary rotation of square-pixellated images is based on the finite su(2)-oscillator model, which describes systems whose values for position, momentum and energy, are discrete and finite. In a two-dimensional position space, this allows the construction of angular momentum states, orthonormal and complete, for which rotations are defined as multiplication by phases that carry the rotation angle. The decomposition of a digital square images in terms of these angular momentum states determines a unitary (hence invertible) rotation of the image, whose kernel can be computed as a four-dimensional array of real numbers.  相似文献

From the wave equation of a generalized beam the orbital angular momentum is studied. It is shown that the orbital angular momentum exists not only in the Laguerre_Gaussian beam,but in any beam with an angular_dependent structure. By calculating the second order intensity moments of the beam the relation between the orbital angular momentum and the second order moments 〈xθy〉, 〈yθx〉 is given. As an example the orbital angular momentum of the general astigmatic Gaussian beam is studied.  相似文献

For an area preserving, monotone twist diffeomorphism and an irrational number ω, we prove that if there is no invariant circle of angular rotation number ω, then there are uncountably many Denjoy minimal sets of angular rotation number ω. For each pair of positive integersn andR we prove that the space (with the vague topology) of Denjoy minimal sets of angular rotation number ω and intrinsic rotation number (ω+R)/n (mod. 1) contains a disk of dimensionn−1. Sodium layers (75–105 km) were measured by Na lidar on three nights during March 1–3, 1996. The lidar data were used to calculate the relative atmospheric density perturbations and their spectra. The average r. m. s. density perturbations for early March at Wuhan are 5 %. The vertical wave number spectra exhibit power-law shapes with an average slope of -2.23 in the upper mesosphere when the associated mean density quantity of the day was used.  相似文献
