Let m , 0 m+ in Kato's class. We investigate the spectral function s( + m) where s( + m) denotes the upper bound of the spectrum of the Schrödinger operator + m. In particular, we determine its derivative at 0. If m- is sufficiently large, we show that there exists a unique 1 > 0 such that s( + 1m) = 0. Under suitable conditions on m+ it follows that 0 is an eigenvalue of + 1m with positive eigenfunction.  相似文献

We prove that any graph with maximum degree sufficiently large, has a proper vertex colouring using +1 colours such that each colour class appears at most log8 times in the neighbourhood of any vertex. We also show that for 1, the minimum number of colours required to colour any such graph so that each vertex appears at most times in the neighbourhood of any vertex is (+1+1//), showing in particular that when =log/loglog, such a colouring cannot always be achieved with O() colours. We also provide a polynomial time algorithm to find such a colouring. It is known by H. Sachs [5] that the classical curve theorem of ABRAMESCU also holds in isotropic geometry. Generalising an idea due to O. Röschel [2] we regard all inscribed parabolas (s, t) of a triangle (t). This triangle is formed by the tangents of three neighbouring points of a C -curve k(t) in an isotropic plane. Let U((t)) be the circumcircle of (t) and I((t)) the incircle of the triangle (t) whose midpoints of the sides are the vertices of (t). The circle U((t)) is the locus of the isotropic focal points of (s, t) and the incircle I((T)) the envelope of the isotropic axes of (s, t). We prove that the ABRAMESU-circle — lim U((t)) — is identical with the locus of the focal points of lim (s, t) and the circle lim I((t)) with the envelope of the axes of lim (s, t). The characteristic points, different from k(t), of the circles lim U((t)) and lim I((t)) determine the direction of the affine-normal of k(t).Herrn Professor Helmut Mäurer zum 60. In this paper we study surfaces immersed in R3 such that the mean curvature function H satisfies the equation (1/H) = 0, where is the Laplace operator of the induced metric. We call them HIMC surfaces. All HIMC surfaces of revolution are classified in terms of the third Painlevé transcendent. In the general class of HIMC surfaces we distinguish a subclass of -isothermic surfaces, which is a generalization of the isothermic HIMC surfaces, and classify all the -isothermic HIMC surfaces in terms of the solutions of the fifth and sixth Painlevé transcendents.  相似文献

Let Sr() be the module of all splines of smoothness r on the rectilinear partition which subdivides some domain D. Further, let Sr() be the module of all splines of smoothness r on which also subdivides D, where is a finer subdivision of . We study the relationship between a generating set of Sr() and a generating set for Sr(). This paper gives an algorithm for extending a generating set for Sr() to one for for Sr(). In this paper we introduce the concepts of a quasi-G*-diagonal and quasi--space as generalizations of the concepts of G*-diagonal and -space respectively. It is shown that a quasi-Moore space may be characterized in terms of these concepts. As a consequence we obtain the following metrization theorems: every paracompact -space with quasi-G-diagonal is metrizable and every collectionwise normal quasi--space is metrizable.  相似文献

Let * be the equilateral triangulation of the plane and let 1 * be the equilateral triangle formed by four triangles of *. We study the space of piecewise polynomial functions in C k (R 2) with support 1 *, having a sufficiently high degree n and which are invariant with respect to the group of symmetries of 1 *. Such splines are called 1 *-splines. We first compute the dimension of this space in function of n and k. Then, for any fixed k0, we prove the existence of 1 *-splines of class C k and minimal degree, but these splines are not unique. Finally, we describe an algorithm computing the Bernstein–Bézier coefficients of these splines.  相似文献

We investigate the Laplacian on a smooth bounded open set Rn with Wentzell-Robin boundary condition $\beta u+\frac{\partial u}{\partial \nu} + \Delta u=0$ on the boundary . The Newton's method for finding the root of the equation (t)=0 can be easily generalized to the case where is monotone, convex, but not differentiable. Then, the convergence is superlinear. The minimal surfaces spanning a polygon in p (p2) correspond to the critical points of an analytic function in finitely many variables, namely Shiffman's function. We shall prove that the Morse index of the minimal surface coincides with the Morse index of at the corresponding critical point. Alternatively expressed, the Schwarz operator of the minimal surface and the Hessian of have the same number of negative eigenvalues. We develop an iterated homology theory for simplicial complexes. Thistheory is a variation on one due to Kalai. For a simplicial complex of dimension d – 1, and each r = 0, ...,d, we define rth iterated homology groups of . When r = 0, this corresponds to ordinary homology. If is a cone over , then when r = 1, we get the homology of . If a simplicial complex is (nonpure) shellable, then its iterated Betti numbers give the restriction numbers, h k,j , of the shelling. Iterated Betti numbers are preserved by algebraic shifting, and may be interpreted combinatorially in terms of the algebraically shifted complex in several ways. In addition, the depth of a simplicial complex can be characterized in terms of its iterated Betti numbers.  相似文献

Let be a non-Desarguesian semifield plane of order 2 n 26, and letG be the autotopism group relative to an autotopism triangle . We prove that ifG acts transitively on the non-vertex points on a side of , then is a generalized twisted field plane.
