Let ‖·‖ be a norm on the algebra ?n of all n × n matrices over ?. An interesting problem in matrix theory is that “Are there two norms ‖·‖1 and ‖·‖2 on ?n such that ‖A‖ = max|‖Ax2: ‖x1 = 1} for all A ∈ ?n?” We will investigate this problem and its various aspects and will discuss some conditions under which ‖·‖1 = ‖·‖2.  相似文献

We consider a sequence of convex integral functionals Fs: W1,ps) → ? and a sequence of weakly lower semicontinuous and generally nonintegral functionals Gs: W1,ps) → ?, where {Ωs} is a sequence of domains in ?n contained in a bounded domain Ω ? ?n (n ≥ 2) and p > 1. Along with this, we consider a sequence of closed convex sets Vs = {vW1,ps): vKs(v) a.e. in Ωs}, where Ks is a mapping from the space W1,ps) to the set of all functions defined on Ωs. We establish conditions under which minimizers and minimum values of the functionals Fs + Gs on the sets Vs converge to a minimizer and the minimum value of a functional on the set V = {vW1,p(Ω): vK(v) a.e. in Ω}, where K is a mapping from the space W1,p(Ω) to the set of all functions defined on Ω. These conditions include, in particular, the strong connectedness of the spaces W1,ps) with the space W1,p(Ω), the condition of exhaustion of the domain Ω by the domains Ωs, the Γ-convergence of the sequence {Fs} to a functional F: W1,p(Ω) → ?, and a certain convergence of the sequence {Gs} to a functional G: W1,p(Ω) → ?. We also assume some conditions characterizing both the internal properties of the mappings Ks and their relation to the mapping K. In particular, these conditions admit the study of variational problems with irregular varying unilateral obstacles and with varying constraints combining the pointwise dependence and the functional dependence of the integral form.  相似文献

Order-sharp estimates are established for the best N-term approximations of functions from Nikol’skii–Besov type classes Bpqsm(Tk) with respect to the multiple trigonometric system T(k) in the metric of Lr(Tk) for a number of relations between the parameters s, p, q, r, and m (s = (s1,..., sn) ∈ R+n, 1 ≤ p, q, r ≤ ∞, m = (m1,..., mn) ∈ Nn, k = m1 +... + mn). In the present paper, a 2mth-order quasilinear divergence equation is considered under the condition that its coefficients satisfy the Carathéodory condition and the standard conditions of growth and coercivity in the Sobolev space Wm,p(Ω), Ω ? Rn, p > 1. It is proved that an arbitrary generalized (in the sense of distributions) solution uW0m,p (Ω) of this equation is bounded if m ≥ 2, n = mp, and the right-hand side of this equation belongs to the Orlicz–Zygmund space L(log L)n?1(Ω).  相似文献

Let L be a non-negative self-adjoint operator acting on L2(R n ) satisfying a pointwise Gaussian estimate for its heat kernel. Let w be an A r weight on R n × R n , 1 < r < ∞. In this article we obtain a weighted atomic decomposition for the weighted Hardy space H L,w p (R n ×R n ), 0 < p ≤ 1 associated to L. An element a of a complex Banach algebra with unit \(1I\) and with standard conditions on the norm (‖ab‖ ? ‖a‖ · ‖b‖ and ‖\(1I\)‖ = 1) is said to be Hermitian if ‖e ita ‖ = 1 for any real number t. An element is said to be decomposable if it admits a representation of the form a + ib in which a and b are Hermitian. The decomposable elements form a Banach Lie algebra (with respect to the commutator). The Hermitian components are determined uniquely, and hence this Lie algebra has the natural involution a + ib = x → x* = a ? ib. One can readily see that ‖x*‖ ? 2‖x‖. Among other things, we prove that ‖ x*‖ ? γ‖x‖, where γ < 2. In fact, the situation is treated in more detail: the original problem is included in a continuous family parametrized by the numerical radius of the element. Finding the exact value of the constant γ is reduced to a variational problem in the theory of entire functions of exponential type. Approximately, γ is equal to 1.92 ± 0.04.  相似文献

We consider an ensemble of particles not interacting with each other and randomly walking in the d-dimensional Euclidean space ? d . The individual moves of each particle are governed by the same distribution, but after the completion of each such move of a particle, its position in the medium is “marked” as a region in the form of a ball of diameter r 0, which is not available for subsequent visits by this particle. As a result, we obtain the corresponding ensemble in ? d of marked trajectories in each of which the distance between the centers of any pair of these balls is greater than r 0. We describe a method for computing the asymptotic form of the probability density W n (r) of the distance r between the centers of the initial and final balls of a trajectory consisting of n individual moves of a particle of the ensemble. The number n, the trajectory modulus, is a random variable in this model in addition to the distance r. This makes it necessary to determine the distribution of n, for which we use the canonical distribution obtained from the most probable distribution of particles in the ensemble over the moduli of their trajectories. Averaging the density W n (r) over the canonical distribution of the modulus n allows finding the asymptotic behavior of the probability density of the distance r between the ends of the paths of the canonical ensemble of particles in a self-avoiding random walk in ? d for 2 ≤ d < 4.  相似文献

The Ramsey number r(K 3,Q n ) is the smallest integer N such that every red-blue colouring of the edges of the complete graph K N contains either a red n-dimensional hypercube, or a blue triangle. Almost thirty years ago, Burr and Erd?s conjectured that r(K 3,Q n )=2 n+1?1 for every n∈?, but the first non-trivial upper bound was obtained only recently, by Conlon, Fox, Lee and Sudakov, who proved that r(K 3,Q n )?7000·2 n . It was proved that the complexity of square root computation in the Galois field GF(3s), s = 2kr, is equal to O(M(2k)M(r)k + M(r) log2r) + 2kkr1+o(1), where M (n) is the complexity of multiplication of polynomials of degree n over fields of characteristics 3. The complexity of multiplication and division in the field GF(3s) is equal to O(M(2k)M(r)) and O(M(2k)M(r)) + r1+o(1), respectively. If the basis in the field GF(3r) is determined by an irreducible binomial over GF(3) or is an optimal normal basis, then the summands 2kkr1+o(1) and r1+o(1) can be omitted. For M(n) one may take n log2nψ(n) where ψ(n) grows slower than any iteration of the logarithm. The constructed series is universal in the class of all measurable, finite functions on [0, 1] in the sense of a.e. convergence. It is proved that there exists a series by Haar system with decreasing coefficients, which has the following property: for any ? > 0 there exists a measurable function µ(x), x ∈ [0, 1], such that 0 ≤ µ(x) ≤ 1 and |{x ∈ [0, 1], µ(x) ≠ = 1}| < ?, and the series is universal in the weighted space L µ[0, 1] with respect to subseries, in the sense of convergence in the norm of L µ[0, 1].  相似文献

In this note, we study the admissible meromorphic solutions for algebraic differential equation fnf' + Pn?1(f) = R(z)eα(z), where Pn?1(f) is a differential polynomial in f of degree ≤ n ? 1 with small function coefficients, R is a non-vanishing small function of f, and α is an entire function. We show that this equation does not possess any meromorphic solution f(z) satisfying N(r, f) = S(r, f) unless Pn?1(f) ≡ 0. Using this result, we generalize a well-known result by Hayman.  相似文献
