We study the rate of convergence of some recursive procedures based on some “exact” or “approximate” Euler schemes which converge to the invariant measure of an ergodic SDE driven by a Lévy process. The main interest of this work is to compare the rates induced by “exact” and “approximate” Euler schemes. In our main result, we show that replacing the small jumps by a Brownian component in the approximate case preserves the rate induced by the exact Euler scheme for a large class of Lévy processes.  相似文献

We prove that strong ergodicity of a Markov process is linked with a spectral radius of a certain “associated” semigroup operator, although, not a “natural” one. We also give sufficient conditions for weak ergodicity and provide explicit estimates of the convergence rate. To establish these results we construct a modification of the Vaserstein coupling. Some applications including mixing properties are also discussed.  相似文献

In this work, the numerical approximation of a viscoelastic problem is studied. A fully discrete scheme is introduced by using the finite element method to approximate the spatial variable and an Euler scheme to discretize time derivatives. Then, two numerical analyses are presented. First, a priori estimates are proved from which the linear convergence of the algorithm is derived under suitable regularity conditions. Secondly, an a posteriori error analysis is provided extending some preliminary results obtained in the study of the heat equation. Upper and lower error bounds are obtained.  相似文献

In this paper we develop a fast collocation method for second boundary integral equations by the trigonometric polynomials. We propose a convenient way to compress the dense matrix representation of a compact integral operator with a smooth kernel under the Fourier basis and the corresponding collocation functionals. The compression leads to a sparse matrix with only O(nlog2n) number of nonzero entries, where 2n+1 denotes the order of the matrix. Thus we develop a fast Fourier-collocation method. We prove that the fast Fourier-collocation method gives the optimal convergence order up to a logarithmic factor. Moreover, we design a fast scheme for solving the corresponding truncated linear system. We establish that this algorithm preserves the quasi-optimal convergence of the approximate solution with requiring a number of O(nlog3n) multiplications.  相似文献

A necessary condition for a (non-autonomous) ordinary differential equation to be exactly solved by a one-step, finite difference method is that the principal term of its local truncation error be null. A procedure to determine some ordinary differential equations exactly solved by a given numerical scheme is developed. Examples of differential equations exactly solved by the explicit Euler, implicit Euler, trapezoidal rule, second-order Taylor, third-order Taylor, van Niekerk’s second-order rational, and van Niekerk’s third-order rational methods are presented.  相似文献

The paper studies the rate of convergence of a weak Euler approximation for solutions to possibly completely degenerate SDEs driven by Lévy processes, with Hölder-continuous coefficients. It investigates the dependence of the rate on the regularity of coefficients and driving processes and its robustness to the approximation of the increments of the driving process. A convergence rate is derived for some approximate jump-adapted Euler scheme as well.  相似文献

A finite volume method with grid adaption is applied to two hyperbolic problems: the ultra-relativistic Euler equations, and a scalar conservation law. Both problems are considered in two space dimensions and share the common feature of moving shock waves. In contrast to the classical Euler equations, the derivation of appropriate initial conditions for the ultra-relativistic Euler equations is a non-trivial problem that is solved using one-dimensional shock conditions and the Lorentz invariance of the system. The discretization of both problems is based on a finite volume method of second order in both space and time on a triangular grid. We introduce a variant of the min-mod limiter that avoids unphysical states for the Euler system. The grid is adapted during the integration process. The frequency of grid adaption is controlled automatically in order to guarantee a fine resolution of the moving shock fronts. We introduce the concept of “width refinement” which enlarges the width of strongly refined regions around the shock fronts; the optimal width is found by a numerical study. As a result we are able to improve efficiency by decreasing the number of adaption steps. The performance of the finite volume scheme is compared with several lower order methods.  相似文献

In a recent paper, we investigated factorization properties of Hermite subdivision schemes by means of the so-called Taylor factorization. This decomposition is based on a spectral condition which is satisfied for example by all interpolatory Hermite schemes. Nevertheless, there exist examples of Hermite schemes, especially some based on cardinal splines, which fail the spectral condition. For these schemes (and others) we provide the concept of a generalized Taylor factorization and show how it can be used to obtain convergence criteria for the Hermite scheme by means of factorization and contractivity.  相似文献

Newton, in notes that he would rather not have seen published, described a process for solving simultaneous equations that later authors applied specifically to linear equations. This method — which Euler did not recommend, which Legendre called “ordinary,” and which Gauss called “common” — is now named after Gauss: “Gaussian” elimination. Gauss’s name became associated with elimination through the adoption, by professional computers, of a specialized notation that Gauss devised for his own least-squares calculations. The notation allowed elimination to be viewed as a sequence of arithmetic operations that were repeatedly optimized for hand computing and eventually were described by matrices.  相似文献

A fast descent algorithm, resorting to a “stretching” function technique and built on one hybrid method (GRSA) which combines simulated annealing (SA) algorithm and gradient based methods for large scale global optimizations, is proposed. Unlike the previously proposed method in which the original objective functions remain unchanged during the whole course of optimization, the new method firstly constructs an auxiliary function on one local minimizer obtained by gradient based methods and then SA is executed on this constructed auxiliary function instead of on the original objective function in order that we can improve the jumping ability of SA algorithm to escape from the currently discovered local minimum to a better one from which the gradient based methods restart a new local search. The above procedure is repeated until a global minimum is detected. In addition, corresponding to the adopted “stretching” technique, a new next trial point generating scheme is designed. It is verified by simulation especially on large scale problems that the convergence speed is greatly accelerated, which is its main difference from many other reported methods that mostly cope with functions with less than 50 variables and does not apply to large scale optimization problems. Furthermore, the new algorithm functions as a global optimization procedure with a high success probability and high solution precision.  相似文献

We propose a new scheme for the long time approximation of a diffusion when the drift vector field is not globally Lipschitz. Under this assumption, a regular explicit Euler scheme–with constant or decreasing step–may explode and implicit Euler schemes are CPU-time expensive. The algorithm we introduce is explicit and we prove that any weak limit of the weighted empirical measures of this scheme is a stationary distribution of the stochastic differential equation. Several examples are presented including gradient dissipative systems and Hamiltonian dissipative systems.  相似文献

We model and analyze classes of antagonistic stochastic games of two players. The actions of the players are formalized by marked point processes recording the cumulative damage to the players at any moment of time. The processes evolve until one of the processes crosses its fixed preassigned threshold of tolerance. Once the threshold is reached or exceeded at some point of the time (exit time), the associated player is ruined. Both stochastic processes are being “observed” by a third party point stochastic process, over which the information regarding the status of both players is obtained. We succeed in these goals by arriving at closed form joint functionals of the named elements and processes. Furthermore, we also look into the game more closely by introducing an intermediate threshold (see a layer), which a losing player is to cross prior to his ruin, in order to analyze the game more scrupulously and see what makes the player lose the game.  相似文献

This paper establishes a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a unique bounded solution to the classical Dirichlet problem in arbitrary open subset of RNRN (N≥3N3) with a non-compact boundary. The criterion is the exact analogue of Wiener’s test for the boundary regularity of harmonic functions and characterizes the “thinness” of a complementary set at infinity. The Kelvin transformation counterpart of the result reveals that the classical Wiener criterion for the boundary point is a necessary and sufficient condition for the unique solvability of the Dirichlet problem in a bounded open set within the class of harmonic functions having a “fundamental solution” kind of singularity at the fixed boundary point. Another important outcome is that the classical Wiener’s test at the boundary point presents a necessary and sufficient condition for the “fundamental solution” kinds of singularities of the solution to the Dirichlet problem to be removable.  相似文献

The classical functional delta method (FDM) provides a convenient tool for deriving the asymptotic distribution of statistical functionals from the weak convergence of the respective empirical processes. However, for many interesting functionals depending on the tails of the underlying distribution this FDM cannot be applied since the method typically relies on Hadamard differentiability w.r.t. the uniform sup-norm. In this article, we present a version of the FDM which is suitable also for nonuniform sup-norms, with the outcome that the range of application of the FDM enlarges essentially. On one hand, our FDM, which we shall call the modified FDM, works for functionals that are “differentiable” in a weaker sense than Hadamard differentiability. On the other hand, it requires weak convergence of the empirical process w.r.t. a nonuniform sup-norm. The latter is not problematic since there exist strong respective results on weighted empirical processes obtained by Shorack and Wellner (1986) [25], Shao and Yu (1996) [23], Wu (2008) [32], and others. We illustrate the gain of the modified FDM by deriving the asymptotic distribution of plug-in estimates of popular risk measures that cannot be treated with the classical FDM.  相似文献

We study the evolution of a self-gravitating compressible fluid in spherical symmetry and we prove the existence of weak solutions with bounded variation for the Einstein–Euler equations of general relativity. We formulate the initial value problem in Eddington–Finkelstein coordinates and prescribe spherically symmetric data on a characteristic initial hypersurface. We introduce here a broad class of initial data which contain no trapped surfaces, and we then prove that their Cauchy development contains trapped surfaces. We therefore establish the formation of trapped surfaces in weak solutions to the Einstein equations. This result generalizes a theorem by Christodoulou for regular vacuum spacetimes (but without symmetry restriction). Our method of proof relies on a generalization of the “random choice” method for nonlinear hyperbolic systems and on a detailed analysis of the nonlinear coupling between the Einstein equations and the relativistic Euler equations in spherical symmetry.  相似文献

In Kuznetsov et al. (2011) a new Monte Carlo simulation technique was introduced for a large family of Lévy processes that is based on the Wiener–Hopf decomposition. We pursue this idea further by combining their technique with the recently introduced multilevel Monte Carlo methodology. Moreover, we provide here for the first time a theoretical analysis of the new Monte Carlo simulation technique in Kuznetsov et al. (2011) and of its multilevel variant for computing expectations of functions depending on the historical trajectory of a Lévy process. We derive rates of convergence for both methods and show that they are uniform with respect to the “jump activity” (e.g. characterised by the Blumenthal–Getoor index). We also present a modified version of the algorithm in Kuznetsov et al. (2011) which combined with the multilevel methodology obtains the optimal rate of convergence for general Lévy processes and Lipschitz functionals. This final result is only a theoretical one at present, since it requires independent sampling from a triple of distributions which is currently only possible for a limited number of processes.  相似文献

We consider a numerical scheme for a class of degenerate parabolic equations, including both slow and fast diffusion cases. A particular example in this sense is the Richards equation modeling the flow in porous media. The numerical scheme is based on the mixed finite element method (MFEM) in space, and is of one step implicit in time. The lowest order Raviart–Thomas elements are used. Here we extend the results in Radu et al. (SIAM J Numer Anal 42:1452–1478, 2004), Schneid et al. (Numer Math 98:353–370, 2004) to a more general framework, by allowing for both types of degeneracies. We derive error estimates in terms of the discretization parameters and show the convergence of the scheme. The features of the MFEM, especially of the lowest order Raviart–Thomas elements, are now fully exploited in the proof of the convergence. The paper is concluded by numerical examples.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to derive the stochastic expansion of self-normalized-residual functionals stemming from a class of diffusion type processes observed at high frequency, where total observing period may or may not tend to infinity. The result enables us to construct some explicit statistics for goodness of fit tests, consistent against “presence of a jump component” and “diffusion-coefficient misspecification”; then, the acceptance of the null hypothesis may serve as a collateral evidence for using the correctly specified diffusion type model. Especially, our asymptotic result clarifies how to remove the bias caused by plugging in a diffusion-coefficient estimator.  相似文献

Recently, numerical solutions of stochastic differential equations have received a great deal of attention. Numerical approximation schemes are invaluable tools for exploring their properties. In this paper, we introduce a class of stochastic age-dependent (vintage) capital system with Poisson jumps. We also give the discrete approximate solution with an implicit Euler scheme in time discretization. Using Gronwall’s lemma and Barkholder-Davis-Gundy’s inequality, some criteria are obtained for the exponential stability of numerical solutions to the stochastic age-dependent capital system with Poisson jumps. It is proved that the numerical approximation solutions converge to the analytic solutions of the equations under the given conditions, where information on the order of approximation is provided. These error bounds imply strong convergence as the timestep tends to zero. A numerical example is used to illustrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

We present new algorithms for weak approximation of stochastic differential equations driven by pure jump Lévy processes. The method uses adaptive non-uniform discretization based on the times of large jumps of the driving process. To approximate the solution between these times we replace the small jumps with a Brownian motion. Our technique avoids the simulation of the increments of the Lévy process, and in many cases achieves better convergence rates than the traditional Euler scheme with equal time steps. To illustrate the method, we discuss an application to option pricing in the Libor market model with jumps.  相似文献
