Following Connes and Moscovici, we show that the Baum-Connes assembly map forK *(C*v) is rationally injective when is word-hyperbolic, implying the Equivariant Novikov conjecture for such groups. Using this result in topologicalK-theory and Borel-Karoubi regulators, we also show that the corresponding generalized assembly map in algebraicK-theory is rationally injective.  相似文献

Given anm-tempered strongly continuous action α of ℝ by continuous*-automorphisms of a Frechet*-algebraA, it is shown that the enveloping ↡-C *-algebraE(S(ℝ, A, α)) of the smooth Schwartz crossed productS(ℝ,A , α) of the Frechet algebra A of C-elements ofA is isomorphic to the Σ-C *-crossed productC *(ℝ,E(A), α) of the enveloping Σ-C *-algebraE(A) ofA by the induced action. WhenA is a hermitianQ-algebra, one getsK-theory isomorphismRK *(S(ℝ, A, α)) =K *(C *(ℝ,E(A), α) for the representableK-theory of Frechet algebras. An application to the differential structure of aC *-algebra defined by densely defined differential seminorms is given.  相似文献

We compute the equivariant K-theory K G * (G)for a compact connected Lie group Gsuch that 1 (G)is torsion free (where Gacts on itself by conjugation). We prove that K G * (G)is isomorphic to the algebra of Grothendieck differentials on the representation ring. We also study a special example of a compact connected Lie group Gwith 1 (G)torsion, namely PSU(3), and compute the corresponding equivariant K-theory.  相似文献

We introduce an asymptotic coarse structure on proper metric spaces and study the associated C * -algebras and assembly maps. We establish an asymptotic Lipschitz homotopy invariance theorem for the K-theory of these C * -algebras and the K-homology of the metric space, and show that the assembly map is an isomorphism over an asymptotically scaleable space. Let (G, I, N, S) be an affine topological Tits system, and let Γ be a torsion-free cocompact lattice in G. This article studies the coinvariants H 0(Γ; C(Ω,Z)), where Ω is the Furstenberg boundary of G. It is shown that the class [1] of the identity function in H 0(Γ; C(Ω, Z)) has finite order, with explicit bounds for the order. A similar statement applies to the K 0 group of the boundary crossed product C *-algebra C(Ω)Γ. If the Tits system has type ? 2, exact computations are given, both for the crossed product algebra and for the reduced group C *-algebra.  相似文献

We define the Volodin hermitian algebraic K-theory for a (discrete) ring with an involution and show that it is isomorphic to Karoubi's hermitian algebraic K-theory. We also construct the Volodin model X(R *) of hermitian algebraic K-theory for a simplicial ring R * and show that it is a homotopy fiber of the map B Ô(R *)B Ô(R *)+. We also prove the general linear version of this result, which has been claimed in the existing literature, but whose proof was overlooked.  相似文献

We discuss an analogon to the Farrell-Jones Conjecture for homotopy algebraic K-theory. In particular, we prove that if a group G acts on a tree and all isotropy groups satisfy this conjecture, then G satisfies this conjecture. This result can be used to get rational injectivity results for the assembly map in the Farrell-Jones Conjecture in algebraic K-theory.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider ideals of a C *-algebra C*(B){C^*(\mathcal{B})} generated by an operator algebra B{\mathcal{B}} . A closed ideal J í C*(B){J\subseteq C^*(\mathcal{B})} is called a K-boundary ideal if the restriction of the quotient map on B{\mathcal{B}} has a completely bounded inverse with cb-norm equal to K −1. For K = 1 one gets the notion of boundary ideals introduced by Arveson. We study properties of the K-boundary ideals and characterize them in the case when operator algebra λ-norms itself. Several reformulations of the Kadison similarity problem are given. In particular, the affirmative answer to this problem is equivalent to the statement that every bounded homomorphism from C*(B){C^*(\mathcal{B})} onto B{\mathcal{B}} which is a projection on B{\mathcal{B}} is completely bounded. Moreover, we prove that Kadison’s similarity problem is decided on one particular C *-algebra which is a completion of the *-double of M2(\mathbbC){M_2(\mathbb{C})} .  相似文献

We study the K-theory of unital C*-algebras A satisfying the condition that all irreducible representations are finite and of some bounded dimension. We construct computational tools, but show that K-theory is far from being able to distinguish between various interesting examples. For example, when the algebra A is n-homogeneous, i.e., all irreducible representations are exactly of dimension n, then K*(A) is the topological K-theory of a related compact Hausdorff space, this generalises the classical Gelfand-Naimark theorem, but there are many inequivalent homogeneous algebras with the same related topological space. For general A we give a spectral sequence computing K*(A) from a sequence of topological K-theories of related spaces. For A generated by two idempotents, this becomes a 6-term long exact sequence.  相似文献

Let X be a connected based space and p be a two-regular prime number. If the fundamental group of X has order p, we compute the two-primary homotopy groups of the homotopy fiber of the trace map A(X) → TC(X) relating algebraic K-theory of spaces to topological cyclic homology. The proof uses a theorem of Dundas and an explicit calculation of the cyclotomic trace map K(ℤ[Cp])→ TC(ℤ[Cp]).  相似文献

For a certain class of extensions of C*-algebras in which B and A belong to classifiable classes of C*-algebras, we show that the functor which sends to its associated six term exact sequence in K-theory and the positive cones of K0(B) and K0(A) is a classification functor. We give two independent applications addressing the classification of a class of C*-algebras arising from substitutional shift spaces on one hand and of graph algebras on the other. The former application leads to the answer of a question of Carlsen and the first named author concerning the completeness of stabilized Matsumoto algebras as an invariant of flow equivalence. The latter leads to the first classification result for nonsimple graph C*-algebras.  相似文献

We completely determine the homotopy groups n (.) of the unitary group and the space of projections of purely infinite simple C *-algebras in terms of K-theory. We also prove that the unitary group of a purely infinite simple C *-algebra A is a contractible topological space if and only if K0(A) = K1(A) = {0}, and again if and only if the unitary group of the associated generalized Calkin algebra L(HA) / K(HA) is contractible. The well-known Kuiper's theorem is extended to a new class of C *-algebras.  相似文献

We use techniques from both real and complex algebraic geometry to study K-theoretic and related invariants of the algebra C(X) of continuous complex-valued functions on a compact Hausdorff topological space X. For example, we prove a parameterized version of a theorem by Joseph Gubeladze; we show that if M is a countable, abelian, cancellative, torsion-free, semi-normal monoid, and X is contractible, then every finitely generated projective module over C(X)[M] is free. The particular case gives a parameterized version of the celebrated theorem proved independently by Daniel Quillen and Andrei Suslin that finitely generated projective modules over a polynomial ring over a field are free. The conjecture of Jonathan Rosenberg which predicts the homotopy invariance of the negative algebraic K-theory of C(X) follows from the particular case . We also give algebraic conditions for a functor from commutative algebras to abelian groups to be homotopy invariant on C *-algebras, and for a homology theory of commutative algebras to vanish on C *-algebras. These criteria have numerous applications. For example, the vanishing criterion applied to nil K-theory implies that commutative C *-algebras are K-regular. As another application, we show that the familiar formulas of Hochschild–Kostant–Rosenberg and Loday–Quillen for the algebraic Hochschild and cyclic homology of the coordinate ring of a smooth algebraic variety remain valid for the algebraic Hochschild and cyclic homology of C(X). Applications to the conjectures of Beĭlinson-Soulé and Farrell–Jones are also given.  相似文献

We investigate étale descent properties of topological Hochschild and cyclic homology. Using these properties we deduce a general injectivity result for the descent map in algebraic K-theory, and show that algebraic K-theory has étale descent for rings of integers in unramified and tamely ramified p-adic fields.  相似文献

We present elements of H1(C×C, ᵊ62) for certain specific curves C. The image of the element under the boundary map arising from the localization sequence of K-theory is the graph of frobenius endomorphism of the reduction of the curve modulo 3.  相似文献

We classify graph C *-algebras, namely, Cuntz-Krieger algebras associated to the Bass-Hashimoto edge incidence operator of a finite graph, up to strict isomorphism. This is done by a purely graph theoretical calculation of the K-theory of the C *-algebras and the method also provides an independent proof of the classification up to Morita equivalence and stable equivalence of such algebras, without using the boundary operator algebra. A direct relation is given between the K 1-group of the algebra and the cycle space of the graph. We thank Jakub Byszewski for his input in Sect. 2.8. The position of the unit in K 0( Ч) was guessed based on some example calculations by Jannis Visser in his SCI 291 Science Laboratory at Utrecht University College.  相似文献

We introduce a geometrical property of norm one complemented subspaces ofC(K) spaces which is useful for computing lower bounds on the norms of projections onto subspaces ofC(K) spaces. Loosely speaking, in the dual of such a space ifx* is a w* limit of a net (x a * ) andx*=x*1+x*2 with ‖x*‖=‖x*1‖ + ‖x*2‖, then we measure how efficiently thex a * 's can be split into two nets converging tox*1 andx*2, respectively. As applications of this idea we prove that if for everyε>0,X is a norm (1+ε) complemented subspace of aC(K) space, then it is norm one complemented in someC(K) space, and we give a simpler proof that a slight modification of anl 1-predual constructed by Benyamini and Lindenstrauss is not complemented in anyC(K) space.
