Let \(f: \mathbb {C}^n \rightarrow \mathbb {C}^k\) be a holomorphic function and set \(Z = f^{-1}(0)\). Assume that Z is non-empty. We prove that for any \(r > 0\),
$$\begin{aligned} \gamma _n(Z + r) \ge \gamma _n(E + r), \end{aligned}$$
where \(Z + r\) is the Euclidean r-neighborhood of Z; \(\gamma _n\) is the standard Gaussian measure in \(\mathbb {C}^n\), and \(E \subseteq \mathbb {C}^n\) is an \((n-k)\)-dimensional, affine, complex subspace whose distance from the origin is the same as the distance of Z from the origin.

In this paper, we investigate the local and global stability and the period two solutions of all nonnegative solutions of the difference equation,
$$\begin{aligned} x_{n+1} = \frac{ ax_{n}+bx_{n-k}}{A+Bx_{n-k}} \end{aligned}$$
where abAB are all positive real numbers, \(k \ge 1\) is a positive integer, and the initial conditions \(x_{-k},x_{-k+1},...,x_{0}\) are nonnegative real numbers. It is shown that the zero equilibrium point is globally asymptotically stable under the condition \(a+b \le A\), and the unique positive solution is also globally asymptotically stable under the condition \(a-b \le A \le a+b\). By the end, we study the global stability of such an equation through numerically solved examples.

Let\(B_{2}^{n}\) denote the Euclidean ball in\({\mathbb R}^n\), and, given closed star-shaped body\(K \subset {\mathbb R}^{n}, M_{K}\) denote the average of the gauge of K on the Euclidean sphere. Let\(p \in (0,1)\) and let\(K \subset {\mathbb R}^{n}\) be a p-convex body. In [17] we proved that for every\(\lambda \in (0,1)\) there exists an orthogonal projection P of rank\((1 - \lambda)n\) such that
$\frac{f(\lambda)}{M_K} PB^{n}_{2} \subset PK,$
where\(f(\lambda)=c_p\lambda^{1+1/p}\) for some positive constant c p depending on p only. In this note we prove that\(f(\lambda)\) can be taken equal to\(C_p\lambda^{1/p-1/2}\). In terms of Kolmogorov numbers it means that for every\(k \leq n\)
$d_k (\hbox{Id}:\ell^{n}_{2} \to ({\mathbb R}^{n},\|\cdot\|_{K})) \leq C_p \frac{n^{1/p-1}}{k^{1/p-1/2}} \ell(\hbox{ID}: \ell^{n}_{2} \to ({\mathbb R}^{n}, \|\cdot\|_{K})),$
where\(\ell(\hbox{Id})={\bf E}\|\sum\limits^{n}_{i=1}g_i e_i\|_K\) for the independent standard Gaussian random variables\(\{g_i\}\) and the canonical basis\(\{e_i\}\) of\({\mathbb R}^n\). All results do not require the symmetry of K.

Let \(b_{5}(n)\) denote the number of 5-regular partitions of n. We find the generating functions of \(b_{5}(An+B)\) for some special pairs of integers (AB). Moreover, we obtain infinite families of congruences for \(b_{5}(n)\) modulo powers of 5. For example, for any integers \(k\ge 1\) and \(n\ge 0\), we prove that
$$\begin{aligned} b_{5}\left( 5^{2k-1}n+\frac{5^{2k}-1}{6}\right) \equiv 0 \quad (\mathrm{mod}\, 5^{k}) \end{aligned}$$
and
$$\begin{aligned} b_{5}\left( 5^{2k}n+\frac{5^{2k}-1}{6}\right) \equiv 0 \quad (\mathrm{mod}\, 5^{k}). \end{aligned}$$

Let K be a compact set in \( {{\mathbb R}^n} \). For \( 1 \leqslant p \leqslant \infty \), the Bernstein space \( B_K^p \) is the Banach space of all functions \( f \in {L^p}\left( {{{\mathbb R}^n}} \right) \)such that their Fourier transform in a distributional sense is supported on K. If \( f \in B_K^p \), then f is continuous on \( {{\mathbb R}^n} \) and has an extension onto the complex space \( {{\mathbb C}^n} \) to an entire function of exponential type K. We study the approximation of functions in \( B_K^p \) by finite τ -periodic exponential sums of the form
$ \sum\limits_m {{c_m}{e^{2\pi {\text{i}}\left( {x,m} \right)/\tau }}} $
in the \( {L^p}\left( {\tau {{\left[ { - 1/2,1/2} \right]}^n}} \right) \)-norm as τ → ∞ when K is a polytope in \( {{\mathbb R}^n} \).

Let D be a subset of a finite commutative ring R with identity. Let \(f(x)\in R[x]\) be a polynomial of degree d. For a nonnegative integer k, we study the number \(N_f(D,k,b)\) of k-subsets S in D such that
$$\begin{aligned} \sum _{x\in S} f(x)=b. \end{aligned}$$
In this paper, we establish several bounds for the difference between \(N_f(D,k, b)\) and the expected main term \(\frac{1}{|R|}{|D|\atopwithdelims ()k}\), depending on the nature of the finite ring R and f. For \(R=\mathbb {Z}_n\), let \(p=p(n)\) be the smallest prime divisor of n, \(|D|=n-c \ge C_dn p^{-\frac{1}{d}}\,+\,c\) and \(f(x)=a_dx^d +\cdots +a_0\in \mathbb {Z}[x]\) with \((a_d, \ldots , a_1, n)=1\). Then
$$\begin{aligned} \left| N_f(D, k, b)-\frac{1}{n}{n-c \atopwithdelims ()k}\right| \le {\delta (n)(n-c)+(1-\delta (n))\left( C_dnp^{-\frac{1}{d}}+c\right) +k-1\atopwithdelims ()k}, \end{aligned}$$
answering an open question raised by Stanley (Enumerative combinatorics, 1997) in a general setting, where \(\delta (n)=\sum _{i\mid n, \mu (i)=-1}\frac{1}{i}\) and \(C_d=e^{1.85d}\). Furthermore, if n is a prime power, then \(\delta (n) =1/p\) and one can take \(C_d=4.41\). Similar and stronger bounds are given for two more cases. The first one is when \(R=\mathbb {F}_q\), a q-element finite field of characteristic p and f(x) is general. The second one is essentially the well-known subset sum problem over an arbitrary finite abelian group. These bounds extend several previous results.

In this paper, we prove some congruences conjectured by Z.-W. Sun: For any prime \(p>3\), we determine
$$\begin{aligned} \sum \limits _{k = 0}^{p - 1} {\frac{{{C_k}C_k^{(2)}}}{{{{27}^k}}}} \quad {\text { and }}\quad \sum \limits _{k = 1}^{p - 1} {\frac{{\left( {\begin{array}{l} {2k} \\ {k - 1} \\ \end{array}} \right) \left( { \begin{array}{l} {3k} \\ {k - 1} \\ \end{array} } \right) }}{{{{27}^k}}}} \end{aligned}$$
modulo \(p^2\), where \(C_k=\frac{1}{k+1}\left( {\begin{array}{c}2k\\ k\end{array}}\right) \) is the k-th Catalan number and \(C_k^{(2)}=\frac{1}{2k+1}\left( {\begin{array}{c}3k\\ k\end{array}}\right) \) is the second-order Catalan numbers of the first kind. And we prove that
$$\begin{aligned} \sum _{k=1}^{p-1}\frac{D_k}{k}\equiv -q_p(2)+pq_p(2)^2\pmod {p^2}, \end{aligned}$$
where \(D_n=\sum _{k=0}^{n}\left( {\begin{array}{c}n\\ k\end{array}}\right) \left( {\begin{array}{c}n+k\\ k\end{array}}\right) \) is the n-th Delannoy number and \(q_p(2)=(2^{{p-1}}-1)/p\) is the Fermat quotient.

The Finsler p-Laplacian is the class of nonlinear differential operators given by
$$\begin{aligned} \Delta _{H,p}u:= \text {div}(H(\nabla u)^{p-1}\nabla _{\eta } H(\nabla u)) \end{aligned}$$
where \(1<p<\infty \) and \(H:\mathbf {R}^N\rightarrow [0,\infty )\) is in \(C^2(\mathbf {R}^N\backslash \{0\})\) and is positively homogeneous of degree 1. Under some additional constraints on H, we derive the Hardy inequality for Finsler p-Laplacian in exterior domain for \(1<p\le N\). We also provide an improved version of Hardy inequality for the case \(p=2\).

and

Let \(F(X,Y)=\sum \nolimits _{i=0}^sa_iX^{r_i}Y^{r-r_i}\in {\mathbb {Z}}[X,Y]\) be a form of degree \(r=r_s\ge 3\), irreducible over \({\mathbb {Q}}\) and having at most \(s+1\) non-zero coefficients. Mueller and Schmidt showed that the number of solutions of the Thue inequality
$$\begin{aligned} |F(X,Y)|\le h \end{aligned}$$
is \(\ll s^2h^{2/r}(1+\log h^{1/r})\). They conjectured that \(s^2\) may be replaced by s. Let
$$\begin{aligned} \Psi = \max _{0\le i\le s} \max \left( \sum _{w=0}^{i-1} \frac{1}{r_i-r_w},\sum _{w= i+1}^{s}\frac{1}{r_w-r_i}\right) . \end{aligned}$$
Then we show that \(s^2\) may be replaced by \(\max (s\log ^3s, se^{\Psi })\). We also show that if \(|a_0|=|a_s|\) and \(|a_i|\le |a_0|\) for \(1\le i\le s-1\), then \(s^2\) may be replaced by \(s\log ^{3/2}s\). In particular, this is true if \(a_i\in \{-1,1\}\).

This paper is concerned with the existence of positive solution to a class of singular fourth order elliptic equation of Kirchhoff type
$$\begin{aligned} \triangle ^2 u-\lambda M(\Vert \nabla u\Vert ^2)\triangle u-\frac{\mu }{\vert x\vert ^4}u=\frac{h(x)}{u^\gamma }+k(x)u^\alpha , \end{aligned}$$
under Navier boundary conditions, \(u=\triangle u=0\). Here \(\varOmega \subset {\mathbf {R}}^N\), \(N\ge 1\) is a bounded \(C^4\)-domain, \(0\in \varOmega \), h(x) and k(x) are positive continuous functions, \(\gamma \in (0,1)\), \(\alpha \in (0,1)\) and \(M:{\mathbf {R}}^+\rightarrow {\mathbf {R}}^+\) is a continuous function. By using Galerkin method and sharp angle lemma, we will show that this problem has a positive solution for \(\lambda > \frac{\mu }{\mu ^*m_0}\) and \(0<\mu <\mu ^*\). Here \(\mu ^*=\Big (\frac{N(N-4)}{4}\Big )^2\) is the best constant in the Hardy inequality. Besides, if \(\mu =0\), \(\lambda >0\) and hk are Lipschitz functions, we show that this problem has a positive smooth solution. If \(h,k\in C^{2,\,\theta _0}(\overline{\varOmega })\) for some \(\theta _0\in (0,1)\), then this problem has a positive classical solution.

Given \(\rho >0\), we study the elliptic problem
$$\begin{aligned} \text {find } (U,\lambda )\in H^1_0(\Omega )\times {\mathbb {R}}\text { such that } {\left\{ \begin{array}{ll} -\Delta U+\lambda U=|U|^{p-1}U\\ \int _{\Omega } U^2\, dx=\rho , \end{array}\right. } \end{aligned}$$
where \(\Omega \subset {\mathbb {R}}^N\) is a bounded domain and \(p>1\) is Sobolev-subcritical, searching for conditions (about \(\rho \), N and p) for the existence of solutions. By the Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality it follows that, when p is \(L^2\)-subcritical, i.e. \(1<p<1+4/N\), the problem admits solutions for every \(\rho >0\). In the \(L^2\)-critical and supercritical case, i.e. when \(1+4/N \le p < 2^*-1\), we show that, for any \(k\in {\mathbb {N}}\), the problem admits solutions having Morse index bounded above by k only if \(\rho \) is sufficiently small. Next we provide existence results for certain ranges of \(\rho \), which can be estimated in terms of the Dirichlet eigenvalues of \(-\Delta \) in \(H^1_0(\Omega )\), extending to changing sign solutions and to general domains some results obtained in Noris et al. in Anal. PDE 7:1807–1838, 2014 for positive solutions in the ball.

Let (Mg) be a smooth compact Riemannian manifold of dimension \(n\ge 6\), \(\xi _0\in M\), and we are concerned with the following Hardy–Sobolev elliptic equations:
$$\begin{aligned} -\Delta _gu+h(x)u=\frac{u^{2^{*}(s)-1-\epsilon }}{d_{g}(x,\xi _0)^s},\ \ \ \ u>0\ \ \mathrm{in} \ \ M, \end{aligned}$$
(0.1)
where \(\Delta _g\,=\,\mathrm{div}_g(\nabla )\) is the Laplace–Beltrami operator on M, h(x) is a \(C^1\) function on M, \(\epsilon \) is a sufficiently small real parameter, \(2^{*}(s):=\frac{2(n-s)}{n-2}\) is the critical Hardy–Sobolev exponent with \(s\in (0,2)\), and \(d_{g}\) is the Riemannian distance on M. Performing the Lyapunov–Schmidt reduction procedure, we obtain the existence of blow-up families of positive solutions of problem (0.1).

We consider the model space \(\mathbb {M}^{n}_{K}\) of constant curvature K and dimension \(n\ge 1\) (Euclidean space for \(K=0\), sphere for \(K>0\) and hyperbolic space for \(K<0\)), and we show that given a function \(\rho :[0,\infty )\rightarrow [0, \infty )\) with \(\rho (0)=\mathrm {dist}(x,y)\) there exists a coadapted coupling (X(t), Y(t)) of Brownian motions on \(\mathbb {M}^{n}_{K}\) starting at (xy) such that \(\rho (t)=\mathrm {dist}(X(t),Y(t))\) for every \(t\ge 0\) if and only if \(\rho \) is continuous and satisfies for almost every \(t\ge 0\) the differential inequality
$$\begin{aligned} -(n-1)\sqrt{K}\tan \left( \tfrac{\sqrt{K}\rho (t)}{2}\right) \le \rho '(t)\le -(n-1)\sqrt{K}\tan \left( \tfrac{\sqrt{K}\rho (t)}{2}\right) +\tfrac{2(n-1)\sqrt{K}}{\sin (\sqrt{K}\rho (t))}. \end{aligned}$$
In other words, we characterize all coadapted couplings of Brownian motions on the model space \(\mathbb {M}^{n}_{K}\) for which the distance between the processes is deterministic. In addition, the construction of the coupling is explicit for every choice of \(\rho \) satisfying the above hypotheses.

In 1987 Harris proved (Proc Am Math Soc 101(4):637–643, 1987)—among others—that for each \(1\le p<2\) there exists a two-dimensional function \(f\in L^p\) such that its triangular Walsh–Fourier series diverges almost everywhere. In this paper we investigate the Fejér (or (C, 1)) means of the triangle two variable Walsh–Fourier series of \(L^1\) functions. Namely, we prove the a.e. convergence \(\sigma _n^{\bigtriangleup }f = \frac{1}{n}\sum _{k=0}^{n-1}S_{k, n-k}f\rightarrow f\) (\(n\rightarrow \infty \)) for each integrable two-variable function f.  相似文献

Given a compact Riemannian manifold (Mg) without boundary of dimension \(m\ge 3\) and under some symmetry assumptions, we establish existence of one positive and multiple nodal solutions to the Yamabe-type equation
$$\begin{aligned} -\text {div}_{g}(a\nabla u)+bu=c|u|^{2^{*}-2}u\quad \text { on }M, \end{aligned}$$
where \(a,b,c\in \mathcal {C}^{\infty }(M), a\) and c are positive, ? div\(_{g}(a\nabla )+b\) is coercive, and \(2^{*}=\frac{2m}{m-2}\) is the critical Sobolev exponent. In particular, if \(R_{g}\) denotes the scalar curvature of (Mg), we give conditions which guarantee that the Yamabe problem
$$\begin{aligned} \Delta _{g}u+\frac{m-2}{4(m-1)}R_{g}u=\kappa u^{2^{*}-2}\quad \text { on }M \end{aligned}$$
admits a prescribed number of nodal solutions.

We study nonlinear elliptic equations in divergence form
$$\text {div }{\mathcal A}(x,Du)=\text {div } G.$$
When \({\mathcal A}\) has linear growth in D u, and assuming that \(x\mapsto {\mathcal A}(x,\xi )\) enjoys \(B^{\alpha }_{\frac {n}\alpha , q}\) smoothness, local well-posedness is found in \(B^{\alpha }_{p,q}\) for certain values of \(p\in [2,\frac {n}{\alpha })\) and \(q\in [1,\infty ]\). In the particular case \({\mathcal A}(x,\xi )=A(x)\xi \), G = 0 and \(A\in B^{\alpha }_{\frac {n}\alpha ,q}\), \(1\leq q\leq \infty \), we obtain \(Du\in B^{\alpha }_{p,q}\) for each \(p<\frac {n}\alpha \). Our main tool in the proof is a more general result, that holds also if \({\mathcal A}\) has growth s?1 in D u, 2 ≤ sn, and asserts local well-posedness in L q for each q > s, provided that \(x\mapsto {\mathcal A}(x,\xi )\) satisfies a locally uniform VMO condition.

In this paper, we study the first eigenvalue of Jacobi operator on an n-dimensional non-totally umbilical compact hypersurface with constant mean curvature H in the unit sphere \(S^{n+1}(1)\). We give an optimal upper bound for the first eigenvalue of Jacobi operator, which only depends on the mean curvature H and the dimension n. This bound is attained if and only if, \(\varphi :\ M \rightarrow S^{n+1}(1)\) is isometric to \(S^1(r)\times S^{n-1}(\sqrt{1-r^2})\) when \(H\ne 0\) or \(\varphi :\ M \rightarrow S^{n+1}(1)\) is isometric to a Clifford torus \( S^{n-k}\left( \sqrt{\dfrac{n-k}{n}}\right) \times S^k\left( \sqrt{\dfrac{k}{n}}\right) \), for \(k=1, 2, \ldots , n-1\) when \(H=0\).  相似文献
