If every vertex cut of a graph G contains a locally 2-connected vertex, then G is quasilocally 2-connected. In this paper, we prove that every connected quasilocally 2-connected claw-free graph is Hamilton-connected.  相似文献

Thomassen [Reflections on graph theory, J. Graph Theory 10 (1986) 309-324] conjectured that every 4-connected line graph is hamiltonian. An hourglass is a graph isomorphic to K5-E(C4), where C4 is a cycle of length 4 in K5. In Broersma et al. [On factors of 4-connected claw-free graphs, J. Graph Theory 37 (2001) 125-136], it is shown that every 4-connected line graph without an induced subgraph isomorphic to the hourglass is hamiltonian connected. In this note, we prove that every 3-connected, essentially 4-connected hourglass free line graph, is hamiltonian connected.  相似文献

Let G be a graph and let D6(G)={vV(G)|dG(v)=6}. In this paper we prove that: (i) If G is a 6-connected claw-free graph and if |D6(G)|≤74 or G[D6(G)] contains at most 8 vertex disjoint K4’s, then G is Hamiltonian; (ii) If G is a 6-connected line graph and if |D6(G)|≤54 or G[D6(G)] contains at most 5 vertex disjoint K4’s, then G is Hamilton-connected.  相似文献

Some known results on claw-free graphs are generalized to the larger class of almost claw-free graphs. In this paper, we prove the following two results and conjecture that every 5-connected almost claw-free graph is hamiltonian. (1). Every 2-connected almost claw-free graph GJ on n≤ 4 δ vertices is hamiltonian, where J is the set of all graphs defined as follows: any graph G in J can be decomposed into three disjoint connected subgraphs G 1, G 2 and G 3 such that E G (G i , G j ) = {u i , u j , v i v j } for ij and i,j = 1, 2, 3 (where u i v i V(G i ) for i = 1, 2, 3). Moreover the bound 4δ is best possible, thereby fully generalizing several previous results. (2). Every 3-connected almost claw-free graph on at most 5δ−5 vertices is hamiltonian, hereby fully generalizing the corresponding result on claw-free graphs. Broersma and Veldman proved that every 2-connected claw-free and P 6-free graph is hamiltonian. Chen et al. extended this result by proving every 2-connected claw-heavy and P 6-free graph is hamiltonian. On the other hand, Li et al. constructed a class of 2-connected graphs which are claw-heavy and P 6-o-heavy but not hamiltonian. In this paper, we further give some Ore-type degree conditions restricting to induced copies of P 6 of a 2-connected claw-heavy graph that can guarantee the graph to be hamiltonian. This improves some previous related results.  相似文献

A graph G has a tank-ring factor F if F is a connected spanning subgraph with all vertices of degree 2 or 4 that consists of one cycle C and disjoint triangles attaching to exactly one vertex of C such that every component of G ? C contains exactly two vertices. In this paper, we show the following results. (1) Every supereulerian claw-free graph G with 1-hourglass property contains a tank-ring factor. (2) Every supereulerian claw-free graph with 2-hourglass property is Hamiltonian.  相似文献

A known result obtained independently by Fan and Jung is that every 3-connected k-regular graph on n vertices contains a cycle of length at least min{3k,n}. This raises the question of how much can be said about the circumferences of 3-connected k-regular claw-free graphs. In this paper, we show that every 3-connected k-regular claw-free graph on n vertices contains a cycle of length at least min{6k-17,n}.  相似文献

A connected even [2,2s]-factor of a graph G is a connected factor with all vertices of degree i (i=2,4,…,2s), where s?1 is an integer. In this paper, we show that every supereulerian K1,s-free graph (s?2) contains a connected even [2,2s-2]-factor, hereby generalizing the result that every 4-connected claw-free graph has a connected [2,4]-factor by Broersma, Kriesell and Ryjacek.  相似文献

In 1992, Xiaoya Zha conjectured that the line graph of a 3-connected non-planar graph contains a subdivision of K 5. In this paper we prove this conjecture. This result is the main ingredient of [4] where a complete characterization of all the 4-connected claw-free graphs not containing a subdivision of K 5 is obtained.  相似文献

We investigate graphs G such that the line graph L(G) is hamiltonian connected if and only if L(G) is 3-connected, and prove that if each 3-edge-cut contains an edge lying in a short cycle of G, then L(G) has the above mentioned property. Our result extends Kriesell’s recent result in [M. Kriesell, All 4-connected line graphs of claw free graphs are hamiltonian-connected, J. Combin. Theory Ser. B 82 (2001) 306-315] that every 4-connected line graph of a claw free graph is hamiltonian connected. Another application of our main result shows that if L(G) does not have an hourglass (a graph isomorphic to K5E(C4), where C4 is an cycle of length 4 in K5) as an induced subgraph, and if every 3-cut of L(G) is not independent, then L(G) is hamiltonian connected if and only if κ(L(G))≥3, which extends a recent result by Kriesell [M. Kriesell, All 4-connected line graphs of claw free graphs are hamiltonian-connected, J. Combin. Theory Ser. B 82 (2001) 306-315] that every 4-connected hourglass free line graph is hamiltonian connected.  相似文献

The circumference of a graph is the length of its longest cycles. Results of Jackson, and Jackson and Wormald, imply that the circumference of a 3-connected cubic n-vertex graph is Ω(n0.694), and the circumference of a 3-connected claw-free graph is Ω(n0.121). We generalize and improve the first result by showing that every 3-edge-connected graph with m edges has an Eulerian subgraph with Ω(m0.753) edges. We use this result together with the Ryjá?ek closure operation to improve the lower bound on the circumference of a 3-connected claw-free graph to Ω(n0.753). Our proofs imply polynomial time algorithms for finding large Eulerian subgraphs of 3-edge-connected graphs and long cycles in 3-connected claw-free graphs.  相似文献

We show that the conjectures by Matthews and Sumner (every 4-connected claw-free graph is Hamiltonian), by Thomassen (every 4-connected line graph is Hamiltonian) and by Fleischner (every cyclically 4-edge-connected cubic graph has either a 3-edge-coloring or a dominating cycle), which are known to be equivalent, are equivalent to the statement that every snark (i.e. a cyclically 4-edge-connected cubic graph of girth at least five that is not 3-edge-colorable) has a dominating cycle. We use a refinement of the contractibility technique which was introduced by Ryjá?ek and Schelp in 2003 as a common generalization and strengthening of the reduction techniques by Catlin and Veldman and of the closure concept introduced by Ryjá?ek in 1997.

A set S of vertices in a graph G is a total dominating set (TDS) of G if every vertex of G is adjacent to some vertex in S. The minimum cardinality of a TDS of G is the total domination number of G, denoted by γt(G). A graph is claw-free if it does not contain K1,3 as an induced subgraph. It is known [M.A. Henning, Graphs with large total domination number, J. Graph Theory 35(1) (2000) 21-45] that if G is a connected graph of order n with minimum degree at least two and G∉{C3,C5, C6, C10}, then γt(G)?4n/7. In this paper, we show that this upper bound can be improved if G is restricted to be a claw-free graph. We show that every connected claw-free graph G of order n and minimum degree at least two satisfies γt(G)?(n+2)/2 and we characterize those graphs for which γt(G)=⌊(n+2)/2⌋.  相似文献

E. Schmeichel and D. Hayes showed that ifG is a 2-connected graph withd(u) +d(v)≥n ?1 for every pair of nonadjacent vertices andv, then G has a Hamiltonian cycle unlessG is the graph of Fig. 2 (b). In this paper, it is proved that, under almost the same conditions as Schmeichel and Hayes’s Theorem, namely,G is a 2-connected graph of ordern (n ≥ 40) with δ(G) ≥ 7 for every pair of nonadjacent vertices andv, G has two edge-disjoint Hamiltonian cycles unlessG is one of the graphs in Fig. 1 or Fig. 2, and this conclusion is best possible.  相似文献

An H1,{H2}-factor of a graph G is a spanning subgraph of G with exactly one component isomorphic to the graph H1 and all other components (if there are any) isomorphic to the graph H2. We completely characterise the class of connected almost claw-free graphs that have a P7,{P2}-factor, where P7 and P2 denote the paths on seven and two vertices, respectively. We apply this result to parallel knock-out schemes for almost claw-free graphs. These schemes proceed in rounds in each of which each surviving vertex eliminates one of its surviving neighbours. A graph is reducible if such a scheme eliminates every vertex in the graph. Using our characterisation, we are able to classify all reducible almost claw-free graphs, and we can show that every reducible almost claw-free graph is reducible in at most two rounds. This leads to a quadratic time algorithm for determining if an almost claw-free graph is reducible (which is a generalisation and improvement upon the previous strongest result that showed that there was a O(n5.376) time algorithm for claw-free graphs on n vertices).  相似文献

A graph is called claw-free if it contains no induced subgraph isomorphic to K1,3. Matthews and Sumner proved that a 2-connected claw-free graph G is Hamiltonian if every vertex of it has degree at least (|V(G)|-2)/3. At the workshop C&C (Novy Smokovec, 1993), Broersma conjectured the degree condition of this result can be restricted only to end-vertices of induced copies of N (the graph obtained from a triangle by adding three disjoint pendant edges). Fujisawa and Yamashita showed that the degree condition of Matthews and Sumner can be restricted only to end-vertices of induced copies of Z1 (the graph obtained from a triangle by adding one pendant edge). Our main result in this paper is a characterization of all graphs H such that a 2-connected claw-free graph G is Hamiltonian if each end-vertex of every induced copy of H in G has degree at least |V(G)|/3+1. This gives an affirmative solution of the conjecture of Broersma up to an additive constant.  相似文献

We say that G is almost claw-free if the vertices that are centers of induced claws (K1,3) in G are independent and their neighborhoods are 2-dominated. Clearly, every claw-free graph is almost claw-free. It is shown that (i) every even connected almost claw-free graph has a perfect matching and (ii) every nontrivial locally connected K1,4-free almost claw-free graph is fully cycle extendable.  相似文献
