We consider global solutions of a dynamical equation in ferrimagnet. We show that it admits a global weak solution by using the penalty method. By the energy estimates method we show there exists a unique global smooth solution. Finally we establish the relationship between this equation and wave maps.  相似文献

The present paper concerns with the global structure and asymptotic behavior of the discontinuous solutions to flood wave equations. By solving a free boundary problem, we first obtain the global structure and large time behavior of the weak solutions containing two shock waves. For the Cauchy problem with a class of initial data, we use Glimm scheme to obtain a uniform BV estimate both with respect to time and the relaxation parameter. This yields the global existence of BV solution and convergence to the equilibrium equation as the relaxation parameter tends to 0.  相似文献

In this paper we deal with the exterior problem for a system of nonlinear wave equations in two space dimensions, assuming that the initial data is small and smooth. We establish the same type of lower bound of the lifespan for the problem as that for the Cauchy problem, despite of the weak decay property of the solution in two space dimensions.  相似文献

We study a class of discrete velocity type approximations to nonlinear parabolic equations with source. After proving existence results and estimates on the solution to the relaxation system, we pass into the limit towards a weak solution, which is the unique entropy solution if the coefficients of the parabolic equation are constant.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with a system of variational wave equations which is the Euler–Lagrange equations of a variational principle arising in the theory of nematic liquid crystals and a few other physical contexts. The global existence of an energy-conservative weak solution to its Cauchy problem for initial data of finite energy is established by using the method of energy-dependent coordinates and the Young measure theory.  相似文献

Presented here is a study of a viscoelastic wave equation with supercritical source and damping terms. We employ the theory of monotone operators and nonlinear semigroups, combined with energy methods to establish the existence of a unique local weak solution. In addition, it is shown that the solution depends continuously on the initial data and is global provided the damping dominates the source in an appropriate sense.  相似文献

In this paper we establish a global existence of weak solutions to the two-dimensional Prandtl's system for unsteady boundary layers in the class considered by Oleinik (J. Appl. Math. Mech. 30 (1966) 951) provided that the pressure is favourable. This generalizes the local well-posedness results due to Oleinik (1966; Mathematical Models in Boundary Layer Theory, Chapman & Hall, London, 1999). For the proof, we introduce a viscous splitting method so that the asymptotic behaviour of the solution near the boundary can be estimated more accurately by methods applicable to the degenerate parabolic equations.  相似文献

In this paper, under certain downstream pressure condition at infinity, we study the globally stable transonic shock problem for the perturbed steady supersonic Euler flow past an infinitely long 2-D wedge with a sharp angle. As described in the book of Courant and Friedrichs [R. Courant, K.O. Friedrichs, Supersonic Flow and Shock Waves, Interscience, New York, 1948] (pages 317-318): when a supersonic flow hits a sharp wedge, it follows from the Rankine-Hugoniot conditions and the entropy condition that there will appear a weak shock or a strong shock attached at the edge of the sharp wedge in terms of the different pressure states in the downstream region, which correspond to the supersonic shock and the transonic shock respectively. It has frequently been stated that the strong shock is unstable and that, therefore, only the weak shock could occur. However, a convincing proof of this instability has apparently never been given. The aim of this paper is to understand this open problem. More concretely, we will establish the global existence and stability of a transonic shock solution for 2-D full Euler system when the downstream pressure at infinity is suitably given. Meanwhile, the asymptotic state of the downstream subsonic solution is determined.  相似文献

The notion of Kruzhkov entropy solution was extended by the first author in 2007 to conservation laws with a fractional Laplacian diffusion term; this notion led to well-posedness for the Cauchy problem in the LL-framework. In the present paper, we further motivate the introduction of entropy solutions, showing that in the case of fractional diffusion of order strictly less than one, uniqueness of a weak solution may fail.  相似文献

This work investigates the existence of globally Lipschitz continuous solutions to a class of initial-boundary value problem of quasilinear wave equations. Applying the Lax's method and generalized Glimm's method, we construct the approximate solutions of initial-boundary Riemann problem near the boundary layer and perturbed Riemann problem away from the boundary layer. By showing the weak convergence of residuals for the approximate solutions, we establish the global existence for the derivatives of solutions and obtain the existence of global Lipschitz continuous solutions of the problem.  相似文献

In this paper, we establish the global existence and stability of a steady conic shock wave for the symmetrically perturbed supersonic flow past an infinitely long conic body as long as the vertex angle is less than a critical value. The flow is assumed to be polytropic, isentropic and described by a steady potential equation. Based on the delicate asymptotic expansion of the background solution, one can verify that the boundary conditions on the shock and the conic surface satisfy the “dissipative” property. From this property, by use of the reflected characteristics method and the special form of the shock equation, we show that the conic shock attached at the vertex of the cone exists globally in the whole space when the speed of the supersonic coming flow is appropriately large. On the other hand, we remove the smallness restriction on the sharp vertex angle in order to establish the global existence of a shock or a global weak solution, moreover, our proof approach is different from that in [Shuxing Chen, Zhouping Xin, Huicheng Yin, Global shock wave for the supersonic flow past a perturbed cone, Comm. Math. Phys. 228 (2002) 47-84] and [Zhouping Xin, Huicheng Yin, Global multidimensional shock wave for the steady supersonic flow past a three-dimensional curved cone, Anal. Appl. 4 (2) (2006) 101-132].  相似文献

This work investigates the existence of globally Lipschitz continuous solutions to a class of Cauchy problem of quasilinear wave equations. Applying Lax's method and generalized Glimm's method, we construct the approximate solutions of the corresponding perturbed Riemann problem and establish the global existence for the derivatives of solutions. Then, the existence of global Lipschitz continuous solutions can be carried out by showing the weak convergence of residuals for the source term of equation.  相似文献

A Lie group of transformations method is used to establish self-similar solutions to the problem of shock wave propagation through a relaxing gas and its interaction with the weak discontinuity wave. The forms of the equilibrium value of the vibrational energy and the relaxation time, varying with the density and pressure are determined for which the system admits self-similar solutions. A particular solution to the problem has been found out and used to study the effects of specific heat ratio and ambient density exponent on the flow parameters. The coefficients of amplitudes of reflected and transmitted waves after the interaction are determined.  相似文献

We study the large time behavior of solutions of a one-dimensional hyperbolic relaxation system that may be written as a nonlinear damped wave equation. First, we prove the global existence of a unique solution and their decay properties for sufficiently small initial data. We also show that for some large initial data, solutions blow-up in finite time. For quadratic nonlinearities, we prove that the large time behavior of solutions is given by the fundamental solution of the viscous Burgers equation. In some other cases, the convection term is too weak and the large time behavior is given by the linear heat kernel.  相似文献

Using a method of stochastic perturbation of a Langevin system associated with the non-viscous Burgers equation we introduce a system of PDE that can be considered as a regularization of the pressureless gas dynamics describing sticky particles. By means of this regularization we describe how starting from smooth data a δ-singularity arises in the component of density. Namely, we find the asymptotics of solution at the point of the singularity formation as the parameter of stochastic perturbation tends to zero. Then we introduce a generalized solution in the sense of free particles (FP-solution) as a special limit of the solution to the regularized system. This solution corresponds to a medium consisting of non-interacting particles. The FP-solution is a bridging step to constructing solutions to the Riemann problem for the pressureless gas dynamics describing sticky particles. We analyze the difference in the behavior of discontinuous solutions for these two models and the relations between them. In our framework we obtain a unique entropy solution to the Riemann problem in 1D case.  相似文献

This work is a continuation of our previous work (Kong, J. Differential Equations 188 (2003) 242-271) “Global structure stability of Riemann solutions of quasilinear hyperbolic systems of conservation laws: shocks and contact discontinuities”. In the present paper we prove the global structure instability of the Lax's Riemann solution , containing rarefaction waves, of general n×n quasilinear hyperbolic system of conservation laws. Combining the results in (Kong, 2003), we prove that the Lax's Riemann solution of general n×n quasilinear hyperbolic system of conservation laws is globally structurally stable if and only if it contains only non-degenerate shocks and contact discontinuities, but no rarefaction waves and other weak discontinuities.  相似文献

In this paper we provide a generalized version of the Glimm scheme to establish the global existence of weak solutions to the initial-boundary value problem of 2×2 hyperbolic systems of conservation laws with source terms. We extend the methods in [J.B. Goodman, Initial boundary value problem for hyperbolic systems of conservation laws, Ph.D. Dissertation, Stanford University, 1982; J.M. Hong, An extension of Glimm’s method to inhomogeneous strictly hyperbolic systems of conservation laws by “weaker than weak” solutions of the Riemann problem, J. Differential Equations 222 (2006) 515-549] to construct the approximate solutions of Riemann and boundary Riemann problems, which can be adopted as the building block of approximate solutions for our initial-boundary value problem. By extending the results in [J. Glimm, Solutions in the large for nonlinear hyperbolic systems of equations, Comm. Pure Appl. Math. 18 (1965) 697-715] and showing the weak convergence of residuals, we obtain stability and consistency of the scheme.  相似文献

We study the pressureless gas equations, with piecewise constant initial data. In the immediate solution, δ-shocks and contact vacuum states arise and even meet (interact) eventually. A solution beyond the “interaction” is constructed. It shows that the δ-shock will continue with the velocity it attained instantaneously before the time of interaction, and similarly, the contact vacuum state will move past the δ-shock with a velocity value prior to the interaction. We call this the “no-effect-from-interaction” solution. We prove that this solution satisfies a family of convex entropies (in the Lax’s sense). Next, we construct an infinitely large family of weak solutions to the “interaction”. Suppose further that any of these solutions satisfy a convex entropy, it is necessary and suffcient that these solutions reduce to only the “no-effect-from-interaction” solution. In [1], Bouchut constructed another entropy satisfying solution. As with other previous papers, it is obvious that it will not be sufficient that a “correct” solution satisfies a convex entropy, in a non-strictly hyperbolic conservation laws system. In this paper we consider a mathematical model describing a dynamic linear elastic contact problem with nonmonotone skin effects. The subdifferential multivalued and multidimensional reaction–displacement law is employed. We treat an evolution hemivariational inequality of hyperbolic type which is a weak formulation of this mechanical problem. We establish a result on the existence of solutions to the Cauchy problem for the hemivariational inequality. This result is a consequence of an existence theorem for second order evolution inclusion. For the latter, using the parabolic regularization method, we obtain the solution as a limit when the viscosity term tends to zero.  相似文献

This work investigates the spherical symmetric solutions of more realistic equation of states. We generalize the method of Hsu et al. (Methods Appl. Anal. 8 (2001) 159) to show the existence of spherical symmetric weak solution of the relativistic Euler equation with initial data containing the vacuum state.  相似文献
