A conventional problem of paper handling in a page-printing printer is to design a reliable paper path. Sometimes, this also affects the printing quality. The nonlinear theory of elastica has often been used to model paper deflection shape and to predict the paper path between some guiding rollers. The present paper proposes another method that can solve this problem more efficiently. Considering a piece of paper as a nonlinear beam, finite element analysis with geometric nonlinearity and manipulating the contact gap element between paper and guiding surfaces can be used to simulate the large-deflection behavior of paper. In this paper, the paper path in the vicinity of an OPC (organic photoconductive) drum is investigated with a general purpose finite element package. The effect of the electrostatic force between the OPC drum and the paper is considered, and the deformed shape of the paper for different forces lengths is obtained. According to those results an appropriate paper guide is added for an exact paper path.  相似文献

In this short paper I report on a paper published in Nonlinear Analysis: Real World Applications in 2004. There is a major mistake early in that paper which makes most of its claims false. The class of reaction–diffusion systems considered in the paper has been the object of a renewed investigation in the past few years, by myself and others, and recent discoveries provide explicit counter-examples.  相似文献

This paper considers a heat system with localized sources and local couplings subject to null Dirichlet boundary conditions, for which both total and single point blow-up are possible. The aim of the paper is to identify the total and single point blow-up via a complete classification for all the nonlinear parameters in the model. As preliminaries of the paper, simultaneous versus non-simultaneous blow-up of solutions is involved, too. The results are then compared with those for another kind of heat system coupled via localized sources in a previous paper of the authors.  相似文献

This paper starts with a biographical sketch of the life of Josef Meixner. Then his motivations to work on orthogonal polynomials and special functions are reviewed. Meixner’s 1934 paper introducing the Meixner and Meixner–Pollaczek polynomials is discussed in detail. Truksa’s forgotten 1931 paper, which already contains the Meixner polynomials, is mentioned. In this paper, we prove a theorem on the growth of a solution of a linear differential equation. From this we obtain some uniqueness theorems concerning that a nonconstant entire function and its derivatives sharing a small entire function. The results in this paper improve many known results. Some examples are provided to show that the results in this paper are the best possible.  相似文献

Extremal Combinatorics is one of the central areas in Discrete Mathematics. It deals with problems that are often motivated by questions arising in other areas, including Theoretical Computer Science, Geometry and Game Theory. This paper contains a collection of problems and results in the area, including solutions or partial solutions to open problems suggested by various researchers. The topics considered here include questions in Extremal Graph Theory, Polyhedral Combinatorics and Probabilistic Combinatorics. This is not meant to be a comprehensive survey of the area, it is merely a collection of various extremal problems, which are hopefully interesting. The choice of the problems is inevitably biased, and as the title of the paper suggests, it is a sequel to a previous paper [N. Alon, Problems and results in extremal combinatorics—I, Discrete Math. 273 (2003), 31-53.] of the same flavor, and hopefully a predecessor of another related future paper.
