We consider a large class of self-adjoint elliptic problems associated with the second derivative acting on a space of vector-valued functions. We present and survey several results that can be obtained by means of two different approaches to the study of the associated eigenvalues problems. The first, more general one allows to replace a secular equation (which is well known in some special cases) by an abstract rank condition. The second one, though available in general, seems to apply particularly well to a specific boundary condition, the sometimes dubbed anti-Kirchhoff condition in the literature, that arises in the theory of differential operators on graphs; it also permits to discuss interesting and more direct connections between the spectrum of the differential operator and some graph theoretical quantities, in particular some results on the symmetry of the spectrum in either case.  相似文献

Let be the three-dimensional anti-de Sitter space. In this paper we will construct new examples of complete maximal space like surfaces in . Moreover, we will prove that any complete maximal space like surface in with principal curvatures ±κ bounded away from zero must be isometric to the hyperbolic cylinder. Since the new examples that we have constructed have exactly two principal curvatures everywhere, we conclude that the condition on the principal curvatures on the previous result, i.e. the condition |κ(m)|>c>0, cannot be replaced by the condition |κ(m)|>0.  相似文献

We formulate a new definition of Sobolev function spaces on a domain of a metric space in which the doubling condition need not hold. The definition is equivalent to the classical definition in the case that the domain lies in a Euclidean space with the standard Lebesgue measure. The boundedness and compactness are examined of the embeddings of these Sobolev classes into L q and C α . We state and prove a compactness criterion for the family of functions L p (U), where U is a subset of a metric space possibly not satisfying the doubling condition.  相似文献

We prove that the Rieffel sharpness condition for a Banach space E is necessary and sufficient for an arbitrary Lipschitz function f: [a, b]→E to be differentiable almost everywhere on a segment [a, b]. We establish that, in the case where the sharpness condition is not satisfied, the major part (in the category sense) of Lipschitz functions has no derivatives at any point of the segment [a, b].  相似文献

We give an algebro-geometric derivation of the known intersection theory on the moduli space of stable rank 2 bundles of odd degree over a smooth curve of genus g. We lift the computation from the moduli space to a Quot scheme, where we obtain the intersections via equivariant localization with respect to a natural torus action.  相似文献

It is shown that is isomorphic to (Ω open set in Rn, 1?p<∞, k Beurling-Björck weight) extending a Hörmander's result (the proof we give is valid in the vector-valued case, too). As a consequence, and using Vogt's representation theorems and weighted Lp-spaces of entire analytic functions, a number of results on sequence space representations of Hörmander-Beurling are given.  相似文献

For a metric space X, we study the space D(X) of bounded functions on X whose pointwise Lipschitz constant is uniformly bounded. D(X) is compared with the space LIP(X) of bounded Lipschitz functions on X, in terms of different properties regarding the geometry of X. We also obtain a Banach-Stone theorem in this context. In the case of a metric measure space, we also compare D(X) with the Newtonian-Sobolev space N1,∞(X). In particular, if X supports a doubling measure and satisfies a local Poincaré inequality, we obtain that D(X)=N1,∞(X).  相似文献

We show that the Libera operator, L, on some spaces of analytic functions is a continuous extension of the conjugate of the Cesàro operator. Results on L acting on various spaces are obtained. In particular, L maps the Bloch space into BMOA. We also prove some results on the best approximation by polynomials in Hardy and Bergman spaces.  相似文献

In this paper, we establish the embedding of a weighted Sobolev space in an Orlicz space for a domain with irregular boundary. We find an estimate of the order of growth of the N-function (defining the Orlicz space) and show that, under certain additional constraints on the weights, this estimate is sharp. Let X be a rearrangement invariant function space on [0,1]. We consider the Rademacher multiplicator space Λ(R,X) of all measurable functions x such that xhX for every a.e. converging series h=∑anrnX, where (rn) are the Rademacher functions. We study the situation when Λ(R,X) is a rearrangement invariant space different from L. Particular attention is given to the case when X is an interpolation space between the Lorentz space Λ(φ) and the Marcinkiewicz space M(φ). Consequences are derived regarding the behaviour of partial sums and tails of Rademacher series in function spaces.  相似文献

We extend the invariance principle to triangular arrays of Banach space valued random variables, and as an application derive the invariance principle for lattices of random variables. We study spherical functions on Euclidean spaces from the viewpoint of Riemannian symmetric spaces. Here the Euclidean space En=G/K where G is the semidirect product RnK of the translation group with a closed subgroup K of the orthogonal group O(n). We give exact parameterizations of the space of (G,K)—spherical functions by a certain affine algebraic variety, and of the positive definite ones by a real form of that variety. We give exact formulae for the spherical functions in the case where K is transitive on the unit sphere in En.  相似文献

This paper deals with the unilateral backward shift operator T on a Bargmann space F(C). This space can be identified with the sequence space ?2(N). We use the hypercyclicity criterion of Bès, Chan, and Seubert and the program of K.-G. Grosse-Erdmann to give a necessary and sufficient condition in order that T be a chaotic operator. The chaoticity of differentiation which correspond to the annihilation operator in quantum radiation field theory is in view, since the Bargmann space is an infinite-dimensional separable complex Hilbert space.  相似文献

Let X be a rearrangement invariant function space on [0,1]. We consider the subspace Radi X of X which consists of all functions of the form , where xk are arbitrary independent functions from X and rk are usual Rademacher functions independent of {xk}. We prove that Radi X is complemented in X if and only if both X and its Köthe dual space X possess the so-called Kruglov property. As a consequence we show that the last conditions guarantee that X is isomorphic to some rearrangement invariant function space on [0,∞). This strengthens earlier results derived in different approach in [W.B. Johnson, B. Maurey, G. Schechtman, L. Tzafriri, Symmetric structures in Banach spaces, Mem. Amer. Math.
