In this paper we obtain the genus field of a general Kummer extension of a global rational function field. We study first the case of a general Kummer extension of degree a power of a prime. Then we prove that the genus field of a composite of two abelian extensions of a global rational function field with relatively prime degrees is equal to the composite of their respective genus fields. Our main result, the genus of a general Kummer extension of a global rational function field, is a direct consequence of this fact.  相似文献

In this paper we first obtain the genus field of a finite abelian non-Kummer l–extension of a global rational function field. Then, using that the genus field of a composite of two abelian extensions of a global rational function field with relatively prime degrees is equal to the composite of their respective genus fields and our previous results, we deduce the general expression of the genus field of a finite abelian extension of a global rational function field.  相似文献

We give an alternative computation of the Galois group of the maximal 2-ramified and complexified pro-2-extension of any 2-rational number field (Theorem 2), a particular case of results of Movahhedi-Nguyen Quang Do. This short Note is motivated by the paper [J. Jossey, Galois 2-extensions unramified outside 2, J. Number Theory 124 (2007) 42-76] and, at this occasion, we bring into focus some classical technics of abelian ?-ramification which, unfortunately, are often ignored, especially those developed by J.-F. Jaulent with the ?-adic class field theory, and by G. Gras in his book on class field theory, and which considerably simplify the study of such subjects; for instance, our proof of Theorem 2 generalizes the purpose of Jossey's paper in such a way using a result of Herfort-Zalesskii. This Note is mainly an attempt of clarification about ?-rationality.  相似文献

In this paper, we give a definition of genus field of function field with one variable over finite fields. And we explicitly describe the genus fields of Kummer function fields. For quadratic function fields case, our results are analogous to the genus fields of quadratic number fields.  相似文献

Over any quadratic finite field we construct function fields of large genus that have simultaneously many rational places, small p-rank, and many automorphisms.  相似文献

We study a special case of the Gross-Stark conjecture (Gross, 1981 [Gr]), namely over genus fields. Based on the same idea we provide evidence of the rationality conjecture of the elliptic units for real quadratic fields over genus fields, which is a refinement of the Gross-Stark conjecture given by Darmon and Dasgupta (2006) [DD]. Then a relationship between these units and the Fourier coefficients of p-adic Eisenstein series of half-integral weight is explained.  相似文献

Lately, I. Miyada proved that there are only finitely many imaginary abelian number fields with Galois groups of exponents ≤2 with one class in each genus. He also proved that under the assumption of the Riemann hypothesis there are exactly 301 such number fields. Here, we prove the following finiteness theorem: there are only finitely many imaginary abelian number fields with one class in each genus. We note that our proof would make it possible to find an explict upper bound on the discriminants of these number fields which are neither quadratic nor biquadratic bicyclic. However, we do not go into any explicit determination.  相似文献

It is proved that there is no congruence function field of genus 4 over GF(2) which has no prime of degree less than 4 and precisely one prime of degree 4. This shows the nonexistence of function fields of genus 4 with class number one and gives an example of an isogeny class of abelian varieties which contains no jacobian. It is shown that, up to isomorphism, there are two congruence function fields of genus 3 with class number one. It follows that there are seven nonisomorphic function fields of genus different from zero with class number one. Congruence function fields with class number 2 are fully classified. Finally, it is proved that there are eight imaginary quadratic function fields FK(x) for which the integral closure of K[x] in F has class number 2.  相似文献

The ruled residue theorem characterises residue field extensions for valuations on a rational function field. Under the assumption that the characteristic of the residue field is different from 2 this theorem is extended here to function fields of conics. The main result is that there is at most one extension of a valuation on the base field to the function field of a conic for which the residue field extension is transcendental but not ruled. Furthermore the situation when this valuation is present is characterised.  相似文献

Letp andl be rational primes such thatl is odd and the order ofp modulol is even. For such primesp andl, and fore = l, 2l, we consider the non-singular projective curvesaY 21 =bX 21 +cZ 21 defined over finite fields Fq such thatq = p α? l(mode). We see that the Fermat curves correspond precisely to those curves among each class (fore = l, 2l), that are maximal or minimal over Fq. We observe that each Fermat prime gives rise to explicit maximal and minimal curves over finite fields of characteristic 2. Fore = 2l, we explicitly determine the ζ -function(s) for this class of curves, over Fq, as rational functions in the variablet, for distinct cases ofa, b, andc, in F q * . Theζ-function in each case is seen to satisfy the Weil conjectures (now theorems) for this concrete class of curves. Fore = l, 2l, we determine the class numbers for the function fields associated to each class of curves over Fq. As a consequence, when the field of definition of the curve(s) is fixed, this provides concrete information on the growth of class numbers for constant field extensions of the function field(s) of the curve(s).  相似文献

Classes of indefinite quadratic forms in a genus are in correspondence with the Galois group of an abelian extension called the spinor class field (Estes and Hsia, Japanese J. Math. 16, 341–350 (1990)). Hsia has proved (Hsia et al., J. Reine Angew. Math. 494, 129–140 (1998)) the existence of a representation field F with the property that a lattice in the genus represents a fixed given lattice if and only if the corresponding element of the Galois group is trivial on F. This far, the corresponding result for skew-hermitian forms was known only in some special cases, e.g., when the ideal (2) is square free over the base field. In this work we prove the existence of representation fields for quaternionic skew-hermitian forms in complete generality.  相似文献

We call a quadratic extension of a cyclotomic field a quasi-cyclotomic field if it is non-abelian Galois over the rational number field. In this paper, we study the arithmetic of any quasi-cyclotomic field, including to determine the ring of integers of it, the decomposition nature of prime numbers in it, and the structure of the Galois group of it over the rational number field. We also describe explicitly all real quasi-cyclotomic fields, namely, the maximal real subfields of quasi-cyclotomic fields which are Galois over the rational number field. It gives a series of totally real fields and CM fields which are non-abelian Galois over the rational number field.  相似文献

Let F/E be an abelian Galois extension of function fields over an algebraic closed field K of characteristic p > 0. Denote by G the Galois group of the extension F/E. In this paper, we study Ω(m), the space of holomorphic m‐(poly)differentials of the function field of F when G is cyclic or a certain elementary abelian group of order pn; we give bases for each case when the base field is rational, introduce the Boseck invariants and give an elementary approach to the G module structure of Ω(m) in terms of Boseck invariants. The last computation is achieved without any restriction on the base field in the cyclic case, while in the elementary abelian case it is assumed that the base field is rational. Finally, an application to the computation of the tangent space of the deformation functor of curves with automorphisms is given.  相似文献

We generalize Gabidulin codes to a large family of fields, non necessarily finite, possibly with characteristic zero. We consider a general field extension and any automorphism in the Galois group of the extension. This setting enables one to give several definitions of metrics related to the rank-metric, yet potentially different. We provide sufficient conditions on the given automorphism to ensure that the associated rank metrics are indeed all equal and proper, in coherence with the usual definition from linearized polynomials over finite fields. Under these conditions, we generalize the notion of Gabidulin codes. We also present an algorithm for decoding errors and erasures, whose complexity is given in terms of arithmetic operations. Over infinite fields the notion of code alphabet is essential, and more issues appear that in the finite field case. We first focus on codes over integer rings and study their associated decoding problem. But even if the code alphabet is small, we have to deal with the growth of intermediate values. A classical solution to this problem is to perform the computations modulo a prime ideal. For this, we need study the reduction of generalized Gabidulin codes modulo an ideal. We show that the codes obtained by reduction are the classical Gabidulin codes over finite fields. As a consequence, under some conditions, decoding generalized Gabidulin codes over integer rings can be reduced to decoding Gabidulin codes over a finite field.  相似文献

A hyperelliptic function field can be always be represented as a real quadratic extension of the rational function field. If at least one of the rational prime divisors is rational over the field of constants, then it also can be represented as an imaginary quadratic extension of the rational function field. The arithmetic in the divisor class group can be realized in the second case by Cantor's algorithm. We show that in the first case one can compute in the divisor class group of the function field using reduced ideals and distances of ideals in the orders involved. Furthermore, we show how the two representations are connected and compare the computational complexity.

In this paper, we study the algebraic structure of principal units in the tower of the maximal abelian extensions of local fields of characteristic zero and the corresponding Galois groups at each level. As an application, we show the finiteness result for the number of coverings with a given degree of the maximal abelian extension of a local field in characteristic zero. The number of p-coverings for is computed explicitly.  相似文献
