All normal subloops of a loopG form a modular latticeL n (G). It is shown that a finite loopG has a complemented normal subloop lattice if and only ifG is a direct product of simple subloops. In particular,L n (G) is a Boolean algebra if and only if no two isomorphic factors occurring in a decomposition ofG are abelian groups. The normal subloop lattice of a finite loop is a projective geometry if and only ifG is an elementary abelianp-group for some primep.  相似文献

LetX be any compact convex subset of a locally convex Hausdorff space andE be a complex Banach space. We denote byA(X, E) the space of all continuous and affineE-valued functions defined onX. In this paper we prove thatX is a Choquet simplex if and only if the dual ofA(X, E) is isometrically isomorphic by a selection map toM m (X, E*), the space ofE*-valued,w*-regular boundary measures onX. This extends and strengthens a result of G. M. Ustinov. To do this we show that for any compact convex setX, each element of the dual ofA(X, E) can be represented by a measure inM m (X, E*) with the same norm, and this representation is unique if and only ifX is a Choquet simplex. We also prove that ifX is metrizable andE is separable then there exists a selection map from the unit ball of the dual ofA(X, E) into the unit ball ofM m (X, E*) which is weak* to weak*-Borel measurable.This work will constitute a portion of the author's Ph.D. Thesis at the University of Illinois.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove that the injective cover of theR-moduleE(R/B)/R/B for a prime ideal B ofR is the direct sum of copies ofE(R/B) for prime ideals D ⊃ B, and if B is maximal, the injective cover is a finite sum of copies ofE(R/B). For a finitely generatedR-moduleM withn generators andG an injectiveR-module, we argue that the natural mapG nG n/Hom R (M, G) is an injective precover if Ext R 1 (M, R) = 0, and that the converse holds ifG is an injective cogenerator ofR. Consequently, for a maximal ideal R ofR, depthR R ≧ 2 if and only if the natural mapE(R/R) →E(R/R)/R/R is an injective cover and depthR R > 0.  相似文献

Let E be a cookie-cutter set with dimH E =s. It is known that the Hausdorff s-measure and the packing s-measure of the set E are positive and finite. In this paper, we prove that for a gauge function g the set E has positive and finite Hausdorff g-measure if and only if 0 〈 liminft→0 g(t)/ts 〈 ∞. A version of Craig-Sakamoto's theorem says essentially that ifX is aN(O,I n ) Gaussian random variable in n, and ifA andB are (n, n) symmetric matrices, thenXAX andXBX (or traces ofAXX andBXX) are independent random variables if and only ifAB=0. As observed in 1951, by Ogasawara and Takahashi, this result can be extended to the case whereXX is replaced by a Wishart random variable. Many properties of the ordinary Wishart distributions have recently been extended to the Wishart distributions on the symmetric cone generated by a Euclidean Jordan algebraE. Similarly, we generalize there the version of Craig's theorem given by Ogasawara and Takahashi. Given a countable Borel equivalence relation E on a Polish space, we show: (1) E admits an endless graphing if and only if E is smooth; (2) E admits a locally finite single-ended graphing if and only if E is aperiodic; (3) E admits a graphing for which there is a Borel way of selecting two ends from each component if and only if E is hyperfinite; and (4) E admits a graphing for which there is a Borel way of selecting a finite set of at least three ends from each component if and only if E is smooth. We show that ifE is a non-reflexive Banach lattice, there exists for everyn a dual of finite even order ofE which contins isometicallyl n /l . We show that itE is a Banach lattice which is isometric to the dual of a Banach spaceX, then the order intervals are σ (E, X)-compact. A sufficient condition is given when a subspaceLL 1(μ,X) of the space of Bochner integrable function, defined on a finite and positive measure space (S, Φ, μ) with values in a Banach spaceX, is locally uniformly convex renormable in terms of the integrable evaluations {∫ A fdμ;f∈L}. An inverse semigroup S is a Howson inverse semigroup if the intersection of finitely generated inverse subsemigroups of S is finitely generated. Given a locally finite action θ of a group G on a semilattice E, it is proved that E*θG is a Howson inverse semigroup if and only if G is a Howson group. It is also shown that this equivalence fails for arbitrary actions.  相似文献
