The approximately synchronizable state for a kind of coupled system of wave equations

This paper deals with the approximately synchronizable state by groups for a kind of coupled system of wave equations with Dirichlet boundary controls. So far, the approximate boundary synchronization for a kind of coupled system of wave equations has already been deeply studied; however, the study on the approximately synchronizable state still needs to be done in details. In this paper, we will give some results on the determination of approximately synchronizable state by groups and the attainable set of them.     

Exact boundary observability for a kind of second-order quasilinear hyperbolic system

In this paper, by means of a constructive method based on the existence and uniqueness of the semi-global classical solution, we establish the local exact boundary observability for a kind of second-order quasilinear hyperbolic system in which the number of positive eigenvalues and the number of negative ones are not equal. As an application, we obtain the one-sided local exact boundary observability and two-sided local exact boundary observability with fewer observed values for first-order quasilinear hyperbolic systems of diagonal form with boundary conditions in which the diagonal variables corresponding to the positive eigenvalues and those corresponding to the negative ones are decoupled.     

Exact Boundary Controllability and Exact Boundary Observability for a Coupled System of Quasilinear Wave Equations

Based on the theory of semi-global classical solutions to quasilinear hyperbolic systems, the authors apply a unified constructive method to establish the local exact boundary(null) controllability and the local boundary(weak) observability for a coupled system of 1-D quasilinear wave equations with various types of boundary conditions.

On the generalized exact boundary synchronization for a coupled system of wave equations

In this paper, we deliver a normalized synchronization transformation to study the generalized exact boundary synchronization for a coupled system of wave equations with Dirichlet boundary controls. The clear relationship among the generalized exact boundary synchronization, the exact boundary null controllability, and the generalized exactly synchronizable states is precisely obtained. This approach gives further a forthright decomposition for the generalized exact boundary synchronization problem, whereby, we gain directly the determination of generalized exactly synchronizable states.     

Exact Boundary Controllability of Weak Solutions for a Kind of First Order Hyperbolic System — The Constructive Method*

In this paper the authors first present the definition and some properties of weak solutions to 1-D first order linear hyperbolic systems. Then they show that the constructive method with modular structure originally given in the framework of classical solutions is still very powerful and effective in the framework of weak solutions to prove the exact boundary (null) controllability and the exact boundary observability for first order hyperbolic systems.     

Exact Boundary Observability of Unsteady Supercritical Flows in a Tree-Like Network of Open Canals

The author establishes the exact boundary observability of unsteady supercritical flows in a tree-like network of open canals with general topology. An implicit duality between the exact boundary controllability and the exact boundary observability is also given for unsteady supercritical flows.     

Generalized Exact Boundary Synchronization for a Coupled System of Wave Equations with Dirichlet Boundary Controls

This paper deals with the generalized exact boundary synchronization for a coupled system of wave equations with Dirichlet boundary controls in the framework of weak solutions. A necessary and sufficient condition for the generalized exact boundary synchronization is obtained, and some results for its generalized exactly synchronizable states are given.     

Exact observability and controllability for a nonsimple elastic rod

In this paper, we prove exact observability, boundary and internal exact controllability results for a nonsimple elastic rod. By the spectral analysis method, it is shown that the considered problem has a sequence of eigenfunctions, which forms a Riesz basis for the state space. The exact observability is proved by application of a modified version of Ingham’s Theorem. Then, via the Hilbert Uniqueness method, we prove a boundary controllability result with only one controller and an internal controllability result.
