In this paper, we study a kind of 2-dimensional axi-symmetrical piston problem in compressible flow. The corresponding mathematical model is the well-known Euler system. We give a brief discussion of some of the contributions of Peter Lax to Computational Fluid Dynamics. These include the Lax-Friedrichs and Lax-Wendroff numerical schemes. We also mention his collaboration in the 1983 HLL Riemann solver. We develop two-dimensional Lax-Friedrichs and Lax-Wendroff schemes for the Lagrangian form of the Euler equations on triangular grids. We apply a composite scheme that uses a Lax-Friedrichs time step as a dissipative filter after several Lax-Wendroff time steps. Numerical results for Noh’s infinite strength shock problem, the Sedov blast wave problem, and the Saltzman piston problem are presented.  相似文献

The solution of an infinite plane containing a macro crack and a cluster of micro cracks under uniaxial tensile load was presented based on Muskhelishvili’s complex function method and the stepwise recursive method. The stress field and stress intensity factor K were obtained. Combined with the damage mechanics, damage parameter D of the macro-crack tip and the micro-crack tip under uniaxial tension was redefined, and the influence of different damage zone forms on the damage of the crack tip was analyzed. The results show that, both the chain-distribution and the reverse-chain-distribution micro cracks have an amplifying effect on the macro crack growth, and the damage parameter increases with the decrease of the inclination angle of the micro crack and the reduction of the distance between the macro crack and the micro cracks. For a relatively small inclination angle of the micro crack, the damage parameters of the macro crack and the micro crack heightens, and the damage parameter of the macro crack increases with the micro-crack length. For evenly distributed micro cracks in the continuous damage zone, the micro cracks have an amplifying effect on the macro-crack growth, and the damage parameter of the macro crack increases with the micro-crack number. © 2022 Editorial Office of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics. Let Ln be the hexagonal chain graph,Fnbe the hexacyclic system graph and Mn be the M¨obius hexacyclic system graph. Derflinger and Sofer gave the spectra of Ln and Fn by using group theoretical method. Later, Gutman gave the spectra of them using a polynomial result due to Godsil and McKay. In this paper, we give a simple and direct method to determine the characteristic polynomial and spectra of Fn and Ln. By the method, we give the characteristic polynomial and spectrum of Mn that is new. Additionally, the exact values of total π-electron energy and the nullities of Ln, Fn and Mn are obtained, and the bounds for the energy of Ln and Mn are also considered.  相似文献

A closed-form solution of responses of SDOF structures with SPIS-Ⅱ dampers under seismic excitation modeled with the Clough-Pezien spectrum was proposed, and the shock absorption performance and influential factors of this system were studied based on the proposed method. Firstly, the motion equation for the SPIS-Ⅱ damper was established, and the unified expressions of frequency domain solutions of structural responses, such as the structural displacement and the inerter force, were obtained. Secondly, based on the rational expression decomposition and the residue theorem, the quadratic orthogonal equations of the frequency response eigenvalue function and the Clough-Pezien spectrum were obtained respectively, and in turn the quadratic orthogonal equation of the structural response power spectrum was deduced. Thirdly, the concise closed-form solutions of the 0~2nd-order spectral moments of the structural responses were acquired. The proposed method and the virtual excitation method were used to analyze a case respectively, which verifies the correctness of the proposed method. Finally, the proposed method was used to analyze the effects of the inerter parameters on the seismic performances of the structure. The research shows that, the proposed method gives closed-form solutions better than those given by the virtual excitation method in terms of computation efficiency and accuracy. The damping performance will improve with the increase of µm and µξ for a constant µω and the damping performance will reach the optimum for µω=1. © 2023 Editorial Office of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics. In this paper,the global existence of the classical solution to the vacuum free boundary problem of full compressible magnetohydrodynamic equations with large initial data and axial symmetry is studied.The solutions to the system(1.6)–(1.8) are in the class of radius-dependent solutions,i.e.,independent of the axial variable and the angular variable.In particular,the expanding rate of the moving boundary is obtained.The main difficulty of this problem lies in the strong coupling of the magnetic field,velocity,temperature and the degenerate density near the free boundary.We overcome the obstacle by establishing the lower bound of the temperature by using different Lagrangian coordinates,and deriving the uniform-in-time upper and lower bounds of the Lagrangian deformation variable r;by weighted estimates,and also the uniform-in-time weighted estimates of the higher-order derivatives of solutions by delicate analysis.  相似文献

Based on the equivalent elasticity theory for layered materials, the micro-mechanics equivalent models for single and dual damascene structures were established. The equivalent elastic constant of the patterned structure was introduced, to establish the propagation model for the surface acoustic waves propagating in the layered structure of the patterned film/ substrate, and the theoretical dispersion curves of the surface acoustic waves were calculated with Green’s function and the matrix method. The finite element method was used to calculate 24 numerical examples of damascene structures with different volume ratios, and the results were compared with those of the strain energy method. The results show that, the average relative errors of the equivalent Young’s moduli of the 300 nm-thick dual damascene film and the 100 nm-thick single damascene film are 2.06% and 2.27%, respectively. The research verifies the correctness of the equivalent patterned structure model and the feasibility of the surface acoustic wave method to characterize the mechanical properties of patterned films, and provides a reference for the development of suitable chemico-mechanical polishing technologies for patterned films under low pressure. © 2023 Editorial Office of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics. In this paper, the authors study the piston problem for the unsteady two-dimensional Euler system for a Chaplygin gas. The angle of the piston is allowed to vary in a wide range. The piston can be pushed forward into the static gas, or pulled back from the gas. The global existence of solution to the piston problem with any initial speed is established, and the structures of the global solutions are clearly described. The authors find that for the proceeding piston problem the front shock can be detached, attached or even adhere to the surface of the piston depending on the parameters of the flow and the piston; while for the receding problem the front rarefaction wave is always detached and the concentration will never occur.  相似文献

The paper studies the 1-D piston problem of the relativistic Euler equations when the speed of the piston is a perturbation of a constant. A sequence of approximate solutions constructed by a modified Glimm scheme is proved to be convergent to the weak solution (which includes a strong leading shock) to the piston problem. The problem of one-dimensional piston which at the beginning moves with increasing velocity into a gas at rest, then is decelerated, and finally stops, is solved by means of special series. The gas flow field is constructed by a successive joining of three characteristic Cauchy problems in terms of their characteristic solutions. Generalized solution of the problem of instantaneous arrest of the piston is derived. Obtained equations are used for the approximate calculation of the motion of generated shock waves.Representation of solutions of certain boundary value problems for nonlinear equations of the hyperbolic kind in the form of special series was proposed in [1, 2], The problem of the piston moving into a gas at rest is solved there, and the obtained solution was used for an approximate determination of the generated shock wave. The piston velocity was assumed to be monotonically increasing. That problem is solved here with the use of similar series in the case when the piston velocity is nonmonotonous,Numerical methods make it possible at present to determine one-dimensional flows similar to that considered below, and multidimensional problems can be solved by the method proposed in [1, 2]. The use of the proposed scheme for solving the problem of the multidimensional piston, whose velocity is nonmonotonous, does not present theoretical difficulties, but except that the formulas are more cumbersome.  相似文献

We consider a system modelling the motion of a piston in a cylinder filled by a viscous heat conducting gas. The piston is moving longitudinally without friction under the influence of the forces exerted by the gas. In addition, the piston is supposed to be thermally insulating (adiabatic piston). This fact raises several challenges which received a considerable attention, essentially in the statistical physics literature. We study the problem via the methods of continuum mechanics, specifically, the motion of the gas is described by means of the Navier–Stokes–Fourier system in one space dimension, coupled with Newton's second law governing the motion of the piston. We establish global in time existence of strong solutions and show that the system stabilizes to an equilibrium state for t.  相似文献

Our goal was to model and analyze a stationary and evolutionary potential ideal fluid flow through the junction of two pipes in the gravity field. Inside the ‘vertical’ pipe, there is a heavy piston that can freely move along the pipe. In the stationary case, we are interested in the equilibrium position of the piston in dependence on the geometry of junction, and in the evolutionary case, we study motion of the piston also in dependence on geometry. We formulate corresponding initial and boundary value problems and prove the existence results. The problem is nonlinear because the domain is unknown. Furthermore, we study some qualitative properties of the solutions and compare them with the qualitative properties of a free piston problem for Newtonian fluid flow.
