An exchange ring R is strongly separative provided that for all finitely generated projective right R-modules A and B, AAABAB. We prove that an exchange ring R is strongly separative if and only if for any corner S of R, aS + bS = S implies that there exist u, vS such that au = bv and Su + Sv = S if and only if for any corner S of R, aS + bS = S implies that there exists a right invertible matrix ∈ M 2(S). The dual assertions are also proved.  相似文献

Let H be an infinite dimensional complex Hilbert space. Denote by B(H) the algebra of all bounded linear operators on H, and by I(H) the set of all idempotents in B(H). Suppose that Φ is a surjective map from B(H) onto itself. If for every λ ∈ -1,1,2,3, and A, B ∈ B(H),ABI(H) ⇔ Φ(A) -λΦ(B) ∈I(H, then Φ is a Jordan ring automorphism, i.e. there exists a continuous invertible linear or conjugate linear operator T on H such that Φ(A) = TAT -1 for all AB(H), or Φ(A) = TA*T -1 for all AB(H); if, in addition, A-iB ∈I(H)⇔ Φ(A)-iΦ(B) ∈I(H), here i is the imaginary unit, then Φ is either an automorphism or an anti-automorphism.  相似文献

Separative cancellation for projective modules over exchange rings   总被引:27,自引:0,他引:27
A separative ring is one whose finitely generated projective modules satisfy the propertyAAABBBAB. This condition is shown to provide a key to a number of outstanding cancellation problems for finitely generated projective modules over exchange rings. It is shown that the class of separative exchange rings is very broad, and, notably, closed under extensions of ideals by factor rings. That is, if an exchange ringR has an idealI withI andR/I both separative, thenR is separative. We characterize exchange rings having stable range one. An exchange ring R has stable range one if and only if for any regular aR, there exist an eE(R) and a uU(R) such that a = e + u and aReR = 0 if and only if for any regular aR, there exist er.ann(a +) and uU(R) such that a = e + u if and only if for any a, bR, R/aRR/bRaRbR.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce the class of generalized stable rings and investigate equivalent characterizations of such rings. We show that EndR R is a generalized stable ring if and only if any right H-module decompositions M = A 1 + B 1 = A 2 + B 2 with A 1 ? A ? A 2 implies that there exist C,D,EM such that M = C + D B 1 = c + E + B 2 with.C ? A. Also we show that every generalized stable ring is a GE-ring and matrices over generalized stable regular ring can be diagonalized by some weakly invertible matrices.  相似文献

On Ideals of Regular Rings   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper, we investigate ideals of regular rings and give several characterizations for an ideal to satisfy the comparability. In addition it is shown that, if I is a minimal two-sided ideal of a regular ring R, then I satisfies the comparability if and only if I is separative. Furthermore, we prove that, for ideals with stable range one, Roth's problem has an affirmative solution. These extend the corresponding results on unit-regularity and one-sided unit-regularity. LetA, B, S be finite subsets of an abelian groupG. Suppose that the restricted sumsetC={α+b: α ∈A, b ∈B, and α − b ∉S} is nonempty and somecC can be written asa+b withaA andbB in at mostm ways. We show that ifG is torsion-free or elementary abelian, then |C|≥|A|+|B|−|S|−m. We also prove that |C|≥|A|+|B|−2|S|−m if the torsion subgroup ofG is cyclic. In the caseS={0} this provides an advance on a conjecture of Lev. Let R be an exchange ring with primitive factors artinian. We prove that there exists a u∈U(R) such that 1R ± u ∈ U(R), if and only if for any a ∈ R, there exists a u ∈ U(R) such that a ± u∈ U(R). Phrthermore, we prove that, for any A ∈ Mn(R)(n ≥ 2), there exists a U ∈ GLn(R) such that A ± U ∈ GLn(R).  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce related comparability for exchange ideals. Let I be an exchange ideal of a ring R. If I satisfies related comparability, then for any regular matrix AM n (I), there exist left invertible U 1; U 2M n (R) and right invertible V 1, V 2M n (R) such that U 1 V 1 AU 2 V 2 = diag(e 1,..., e n ) for idempotents e 1,..., e n I.  相似文献

UniversalC*-algebrasC*(A) exist for certain topological *-algebras called algebras with aC*-enveloping algebra. A Frechet *-algebraA has aC*-enveloping algebra if and only if every operator representation ofA mapsA into bounded operators. This is proved by showing that every unbounded operator representation π, continuous in the uniform topology, of a topological *-algebraA, which is an inverse limit of Banach *-algebras, is a direct sum of bounded operator representations, thereby factoring through the enveloping pro-C*-algebraE(A) ofA. Given aC*-dynamical system (G,A,α), any topological *-algebraB containingC c (G,A) as a dense *-subalgebra and contained in the crossed productC*-algebraC*(G,A,α) satisfiesE(B) =C*(G,A,α). IfG = ℝ, ifB is an α-invariant dense Frechet *-subalgebra ofA such thatE(B) =A, and if the action α onB ism-tempered, smooth and by continuous *-automorphisms: then the smooth Schwartz crossed productS(ℝ,B,α) satisfiesE(S(ℝ,B,α)) =C*(ℝ,A,α). WhenG is a Lie group, theC -elementsC (A), the analytic elementsC ω(A) as well as the entire analytic elementsC є(A) carry natural topologies making them algebras with aC*-enveloping algebra. Given a non-unitalC*-algebraA, an inductive system of idealsI α is constructed satisfyingA =C*-ind limI α; and the locally convex inductive limit ind limI α is anm-convex algebra with theC*-enveloping algebraA and containing the Pedersen idealK a ofA. Given generatorsG with weakly Banach admissible relationsR, we construct universal topological *-algebraA(G, R) and show that it has aC*-enveloping algebra if and only if (G, R) isC*-admissible.

Summary LetI, J, L andN be fractional ideals of a domainA. We prove that if two ?Multiplicative modules? (IJ, 〈,〉) and (LN, 〈,〉) are isometric, thenI is isomorphic toL (respectivelyJ is isomorphic toN) or toN (respectively toL). As a consequence, we can know if two isotropic quadratic spaces of rank 2 are isometric on a Prüfer domain.

Generalized Derivations with Nilpotent Values on Semiprime Rings   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Let R be a semiprime ring, RF be its left Martindale quotient ring and I be an essential ideal of R. Then every generalized derivation μ defined on I can be uniquely extended to a generalized derivation of RE. Furthermore, if there exists a fixed positive integer n such that μ(x)^n = 0 for all x∈I, then μ=0.  相似文献

Let A be a class of Abelian groups, AA, and End(A) be the additive endomorphism group of the group A. The group A is said to be defined by its endomorphism group in the class {ie208-01} if for every group BB such that End(B) ≅ End(A) the isomorphism BA holds. The paper considers the problem of definability of a periodic Abelian group A such that End-End(A) ≅ End(A). The classes of periodical Abelian groups, of divisible Abelian groups, of reduced Abelian groups, of nonreduced Abelian groups, and of all Abelian groups are investigated in this paper. __________ Translated from Fundamentalnaya i Prikladnaya Matematika, Vol. 13, No. 2, pp. 123–131, 2007.  相似文献

We show that Hausdorff measures of different dimensions are not Borel isomorphic; that is, the measure spaces (ℝ, B, H s ) and (ℝ, B, H t ) are not isomorphic if st, s, t ∈ [0, 1], where B is the σ-algebra of Borel subsets of ℝ and H d is the d-dimensional Hausdorff measure. This answers a question of B. Weiss and D. Preiss. To prove our result, we apply a random construction and show that for every Borel function ƒ: ℝ → ℝ and for every d ∈ [0, 1] there exists a compact set C of Hausdorff dimension d such that ƒ(C) has Hausdorff dimension ≤ d. We also prove this statement in a more general form: If A ⊂ ℝn is Borel and ƒ: A → ℝm is Borel measurable, then for every d ∈ [0, 1] there exists a Borel set BA such that dim B = d·dim A and dim ƒ(B) ≤ d·dim ƒ (A). Straight Rings
A (commutative integral) domain is called a straight domain if A ? B is a prime morphism for each overring B of A; a (commutative unital) ring A is called a straight ring if A/P is a straight domain for all P ∈ Spec(A). A domain is a straight ring if and only if it is a straight domain. The class of straight rings sits properly between the class of locally divided rings and the class of going-down rings. An example is given of a two-dimensional going-down domain that is not a straight domain. The classes of straight rings, of locally divided rings, and of going-down rings coincide within the universe of seminormal weak Baer rings (for instance, seminormal domains). The class of straight rings is stable under formation of homomorphic images, rings of fractions, and direct limits. The “straight domain" property passes between domains having the same prime spectrum. Straight domains are characterized within the universe of conducive domains. If A is a domain with a nonzero ideal I and quotient field K, characterizations are given for A ? (I: K I) to be a prime morphism. If A is a domain and P ∈ Spec(A) such that A P is a valuation domain, then the CPI-extension C(P) := A + PA P is a straight domain if and only if A/P is a straight domain. If A is a going-down domain and P ∈ Spec(A), characterizations are given for A ? C(P) to be a prime morphism. Consequences include divided domain-like behavior of arbitrary straight domains.  相似文献

We show that over a right coherent left perfect ring R, a complex C of left R-modules is Gorenstein projective if and only if C m is Gorenstein projective in R-Mod for all m ∈ ℤ. Basing on this we show that if R is a right coherent left perfect ring then Gpd(C) = sup{Gpd(C m )|m ∈ ℤ} where Gpd(−) denotes Gorenstein projective dimension.  相似文献

The additive subgroup generated by a polynomial   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
SupposeR is a prime ring with the centerZ and the extended centroidC. Letp(x 1, …,x n) be a polynomial overC in noncommuting variablesx 1, …,x n. LetI be a nonzero ideal ofR andA be the additive subgroup ofRC generated by {p(a 1, …,a n):a 1, …,a nI}. Then eitherp(x 1, …,x n) is central valued orA contains a noncentral Lie ideal ofR except in the only one case whereR is the ring of all 2 × 2 matrices over GF(2), the integers mod 2.  相似文献

We introduce the concept of ideal-comparability condition for regular rings. Let I be an ideal of a regular ring R. If R satisfies the I-comparability condition, then R is one-sided unit-regular if and only if so is R/I. Also, we show that a regular ring R satisfies the general comparability if and only if the following hold: (1) R/I satisfies the general comparability; (2) R satisfies the general I-comparability condition; (3) The natural map B(R) → B(R/I) is surjective.  相似文献

A ring is said to be normal if all of its idempotents are central. It is proved that a mixed group A with a normal endomorphism ring contains a pure fully invariant subgroup GB, the endomorphism ring of a group G is commutative, and a subgroup B is not always distinguished by a direct summand in A. We describe separable, coperiodic, and other groups with normal endomorphism rings. Also we consider Abelian groups in which the square of the Lie bracket of any two endomorphisms is the zero endomorphism. It is proved that every central invariant subgroup of a group is fully invariant iff the endomorphism ring of the group is commutative.  相似文献
