Any nonsingular linear transformation : GF(qs) GF(qs) can be used to treat a linear cyclic code of wordlength v over GF(qs) as a linear code () of Wordlength sv over GF(q). L. Bader, G. Lunardon and J. A. Thas have shown that a flock 0 of a quadratic cone in PG(3, q), q odd, determines a set ={0,1,...,q} of q+1 flocks. Each j , 1jq, is said to be derived from 0. We show that, by derivation, the flocks with q=3 e arising from the Ganley planes yield an inequivalent flock for q27. Further, we prove that the Fisher flocks (q odd, q5) are the unique nonlinear flocks for which (q–1)/2 planes of the flock contain a common line. This result is used to show that each of the flocks derived from a Fisher flock is again a Fisher flock. Finally, we prove that any set of q–1 pairwise disjoint nonsingular conics of a cone can be extended to a flock. All these results have implications for the theory of translation planes.  相似文献

We give a formulation, via (1, –1) matrices, of Mathon's construction for conference matrices and derive a new family of conference matrices of order 592t+1 + 1,t 0. This family produces a new conference matrix of order 3646 and a new Hadamard matrix of order 7292. In addition we construct new families of Hadamard matrices of orders 692t+1 + 2, 1092t+1 + 2, 8499 t ,t 0;q 2(q + 3) + 2 whereq 3 (mod 4) is a prime power and 1/2(q + 5) is the order of a skew-Hadamard matrix); (q + 1)q 29 t ,t 0 (whereq 7 (mod 8) is a prime power and 1/2(q + 1) is the order of an Hadamard matrix). For a bounded regular Jordan domain in R 2, we introduce and study a new class of functions K() related on its Green function G. We exploit the properties of this class to prove the existence and the uniqueness of a positive solution for the singular nonlinear elliptic equation u+(x,u)=0, in D(), with u=0 on and uC(), where is a nonnegative Borel measurable function in ×(0,) that belongs to a convex cone which contains, in particular, all functions (x,t)=q(x)t ,>0 with nonnegative functions qK(). The paper deals with a problem of developing an inverse-scattering based formalism for solving problems for the cubic nonlinear (or the modified Korteweg–de Vries (KdV)) equations: q t +q xxx +6q 2 q x =0, 0x<, –<t<,q t +q xxx –6q 2 q x =0, with the given initial and boundary conditions: q(x,0)=q(x),q(0,t)=p(t), p(t)L 1(–,). The relation between the solution of the initial-boundary value problem (1), (3), (4) and that of the KdV equation on the half-line is shown. The Cauchy problem for the cubic nonlinear equation: q t +q xxx –6|q|2 q x =0, 0x<, –<t<, with the given initial condition (3) is considered also. We consider strictly convex energy densities f: (x) under nonstandard growth conditions. More precisely, we assume that for some constants , and for all Z, Y n the inequality
holds with exponents and q< 1. If u denotes a bounded local minimizer of the energy f(w)dx subject to a constraint of the form w a.e. with a given obstacle C1, (), then we prove the local C 1,-regularity of u provided that q < 4 — . Bannai and Ito have conjectured that q is real if the diameter D is sufficiently large.We settle this conjecture in the bipartite case by showing that q is real if the diameter D 4. Moreover, if D = 3, then q is not real if and only if 1 is the second largest eigenvalue and the pair (, k) is one of the following: (1, 3), (1, 4), (1, 5), (1, 6), (2, 4), or (2, 5). We observe that each of these pairs has a unique realization by a known bipartite distance-regular graph of diameter 3.  相似文献

We shall give a further application of Hermite-Mahler polynomials to the consideration ofp-adic exponential function. An effective lower bound is obtained for max {| – | p ,P(e )| p }, where is an algebraic number satisfying || p <p –/(p–1), and 0 is ap-adic number with | | p depending on the degree of the polynomialPZ[y]. Denote by q an affine plane of order q. In the desarguesian case q=AG(2,q), q 5(q= ph, p prime), we prove that the smallest cardinality of a blocking set is 2q–1. In any arbitrary affine plane q (desarguesian or not) with q5, for any integer k with 2q–1 k(q–1)2, we construct a blocking set S with ¦S¦=k. For an irreducible blocking set S of q we determine the upper bound S [qq]+1. We prove that if q contains a blocking set S which is irreducible with its complementary blocking set, then necessarily q=AG(2, 4) and S is uniquely determined. The number of subgroups of type and cotype in a finite abelian p-group of type is a polynomialg with integral coefficients. We prove g has nonnegative coefficients for all partitions and if and only if no two parts of differ by more than one. Necessity follows from a few simple facts about Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions; sufficiency relies on properties of certain order-preserving surjections that associate to each subgroup a vector dominated componentwise by . The nonzero components of (H) are the parts of , the type of H; if no two parts of differ by more than one, the nonzero components of – (H) are the parts of , the cotype of H. In fact, we provide an order-theoretic characterization of those isomorphism types of finite abelian p-groups all of whose Hall polynomials have nonnegative coefficients.  相似文献

A study is made of the degeneracy of multidimensional dispersion laws (k) that increase unboundedly as k and satisfy some additional conditions. Under the assumption that the corresponding degeneracy functionf(k) satisfies a certain condition [Eq. (4)], it is shown that only two-dimensional dispersion laws of the form (p,q)=p 3(q/p)+cp(q/p)(|p|,|q|1), wherep(q/p)=f(p, q) is the corresponding unique degeneracy function, can be degenerate with respect to a 12 process. Let be a centered Gaussian measure on a separable Hilbert space (E, ). We are concerned with the logarithmic small ball probabilities around a -distributed center X. It turns out that the asymptotic behavior of –log (B(X,)) is a.s. equivalent to that of a deterministic function R (). Let G be an abelian group of order n. The critical number c(G) of G is the smallest s such that the subset sums set (S) covers all G for eachs ubset SG\{0} of cardinality |S|s. It has been recently proved that, if p is the smallest prime dividing n and n/p is composite, then c(G)=|G|/p+p–2, thus establishing a conjecture of Diderrich.We characterize the critical sets with |S|=|G|/p+p–3 and (S)=G, where p3 is the smallest prime dividing n, n/p is composite and n7p2+3p.We also extend a result of Diderrichan d Mann by proving that, for n67, |S|n/3+2 and S=G imply (S)=G. Sets of cardinality for which (S) =G are also characterized when n183, the smallest prime p dividing n is odd and n/p is composite.
