We study a coupled nonlinear boundary value problem which has been shown to have applications to fluid flow and heat transfer in a fluid film over a stretching surface for set values of the model parameters (one of which determines the size of the problem domain). For arbitrary values of these parameters we are able to establish the existence and uniqueness of a class of monotone solutions. Perturbation solutions are then constructed and used to approximate certain invariants for the solutions. We then study a related boundary value problem formed by imposing an additional boundary condition on one of the governing equations (which results in an ill-posed problem), and we arrive at conditions allowing for solutions to this four-parameter problem to agree with the solutions to the three-parameter problem.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the nonexistence of positive solutions for a class of four-point boundary value problem of nonlinear differential equation with fractional order derivative. We give sufficient conditions on nonlinear term and the parameter such that the boundary value problem has no positive solutions. Some examples are presented to illustrate the main results.  相似文献

Efficient analytical methods for solving highly nonlinear boundary value problems are rare in nonlinear mechanics. The purpose of this study is to introduce a new algorithm that leads to exact analytical solutions of nonlinear boundary value problems and performs more efficiently compared to other semi-analytical techniques currently in use. The classical two-dimensional flow problem into or out of a wedge-shaped channel is used as a numerical example for testing the new method. Numerical comparisons with other analytical methods of solution such as the Adomian decomposition method (ADM) and the improved homotopy analysis method (IHAM) are carried out to verify and validate the accuracy of the method. We show further that with a slight modification, the algorithm can, under certain conditions, give better performance with enhanced accuracy and faster convergence.  相似文献

We investigate the approximation of the solutions of a class of nonlinear second order singular boundary value problems with a self-adjoint linear part. Our strategy involves two ingredients. First, we take advantage of certain boundary condition functions to obtain well behaved functions of the solutions. Second, we integrate the problem over an interval that avoids the singularity. We are able to prove a uniform convergence result for the approximate solutions. We describe how the approximation is constructed for the various values of the deficiency index associated with the differential equation. The solution of the nonlinear problem is obtained by a globally convergent iterative method.  相似文献

Summary Types of boundary value problems of partial differential equations for infinite domains are discussed which can easily be transformed in such a manner as to allow estimations of error (for approximate solutions) similar to the boundary maximum principle. First, second und third boundary value problems for the outer domain of linear elliptic and certain linear and nonlinear parabolic differential equations are examined. For elliptic differential equations one of the results is that the secound boundary value problem for more than two dimensions can be included. The estimates of the paper can thus be applied to problems of flow around some object, not in the case of two but of three dimensions. This is in a certain sense a counterpart to the conformal mappings method which is successful for two but not for three dimensions. Numerical examples show that estimations of error can easily be carried out.  相似文献

A rigorous mathematical analysis is given for a boundary layer problem for a third-order nonlinear ordinary differential equation, which arises in gravity-driven laminar film flow of power-law fluids along vertical walls. Firstly, the problem is transformed into a singular nonlinear two-point boundary value problem of second order. Next, the latter is proved to have a unique positive solution, for which some estimates are established. Finally, the result above-mentioned is turned over to the original problem. The conclusion of this paper is that the boundary layer problem has a unique normal solution if the power-law index is less than or equal to one and a generalized normal solution if the power-law index is greater than one. Also the asymptotic behavior of the normal solution at the infinity is displayed.The work was supported by NNSF of China.  相似文献

The system of linear elasticity is considered in a perforated domain with an ε-periodic structure. External forces nonlinearly depending on the displacements are applied to the surface of the cavities (or channels), while the body is fixed along the outer portion of its boundary. We investigate the asymptotic behavior of solutions to such boundary value problems asε→0 and construct the limit problem, according to the external surface forces and their dependence on the parameter ε. In some cases, this dependence results in the homogenized problem having the form of a variational inequality over a certain closed convex cone in a Sobolev space. This cone is described in terms of the functions involved in the nonlinear boundary conditions on the perforated boundary. A homogenization theorem is also proved for some unilateral problems with boundary conditions of Signorini type for the system of elasticity in a perforated domain. We discuss some cases when the homogenized tensor may depend on the functions specifying the boundary conditions.  相似文献

This article discusses analytical solutions for a nonlinear problem arising in the boundary layer flow of power-law fluid over a power-law stretching surface. Using perturbation method analytical solution is presented for linear stretching surface. This solution covers large range of shear thinning and shear thickening fluids and matches excellently with the numerical solution. Furthermore, some new exact solutions are found for particular combination of m (power-law stretching index) and n (power-law fluid index). This leads to generalize the case of linear stretching to nonlinear stretching surface. The effects of fluid index n on the boundary layer thickness and the skin friction for nonlinear stretching surface is analyzed and discussed. It is observed that the boundary layer thickness and the skin friction coefficient increase as non-linear parameter n decreases. This study gives a new dimension to obtain analytical solutions asymptotically for highly nonlinear problems which to the best of our knowledge has not been examined so far.  相似文献

We consider linear and nonlinear boundary value problems for third-order difference equations with three-point right focal boundary conditions. In the linear case, the existence of positive solutions corresponding to the first eigenvalue of the problem is established and an interval estimate for the first eigenvalue is obtained. In the nonlinear case, sufficient conditions for the existence and nonexistence of positive solutions are obtained. 三维井眼轨道设计问题需要求解多元非线性方程组,由于未知数多、方程的非线性强,一般难以求出解析解,通常使用数值迭代方法求数值解.对三维s型轨道设计问题依据已知设计参数进行了分类,发现了一套有效的数学化简技巧,求出了第1类初值问题的解析解和第Ⅱ-Ⅳ类初值问题的拟解析解.提出了轨道设计问题的特征多项式的新概念,并证明了轨道设计问题是否有解取决于特征多项式是否有实数根,解的个数不多于实数根的个数或个数的二倍.所提出的基于特征多项式实数根的拟解析算法对于求解轨道设计问题具有计算速度快、计算可靠性高、易于计算机编程实现等优点,在三维水平井轨道设计、三维绕障井轨道设计、防碰设计等方面具有比数值迭代方法更好的计算性能.  相似文献

We consider the flow of nonlinear Maxwell fluids in the unsteady quasistatic case, where the effect of inertia is neglected. We study the well-posedness of the resulting PDE initial-boundary value problem locally in time. This well-posedness depends on the unique solvability of an elliptic boundary value problem. We first present results for the 3D case with sufficiently small initial data and for a simple shear flow problem with arbitrary initial data; after that we extend our results to some 3D flow problems with large initial data.We solve our problem using an iteration between linear subproblems. The limit of the iteration provides the solution of our original problem.  相似文献
