A bounded linear operator TL(X) on aBanach space X is said to satisfy “Browder’s theorem” if the Browder spectrum coincides with the Weyl spectrum. TL(X) is said to satisfy “a-Browder’s theorem” if the upper semi-Browder spectrum coincides with the approximate point Weyl spectrum. In this note we give several characterizations of operators satisfying these theorems. Most of these characterizations are obtained by using a localized version of the single-valued extension property of T. In the last part we shall give some characterizations of operators for which “Weyl’s theorem” holds.  相似文献

Extending results of [HSS] on the construction of Neumann Laplacians of combs with given essential spectrum S = S [0,∞], we show that, in addition to the essential spectrum, a bounded sequence of discrete eigenvalues can be prescribed. More generally, we find that certain types of spectra can be constructed precisely, in a bounded interval [0, s].  相似文献

In this paper we introduce and study a functional calculus for bicomplex linear bounded operators. The study is based on the decomposition of bicomplex numbers and of linear operators using the two nonreal idempotents. We show that, due to the presence of zero divisors in the bicomplex numbers, the spectrum of a bounded operator is unbounded. We therefore introduce a different spectrum (called reduced spectrum) which is bounded and turns out to be the right tool to construct the bicomplex holomorphic functional calculus. Finally we provide some properties of the calculus.  相似文献

The author considers a discretization of the p-form Laplacian on open complete Riemannian manifolds of bounded geometry. Following Dodziuk and Patodi [8], the eigenvalues below the essential spectrum together with their eigenforms are approximated by eigenvalues and eigencochains of a semicombinatorical Laplacian acting on L 2-cochains. We obtain a similar result for a ray which is contained in the essential spectrum. An example of a manifold of bounded geometry which admits eigenvalues below the essential spectrum is constructed.  相似文献

This paper discusses the special properties of the spectrum of linear operators (in particular, bounded linear operators) on quotient indecomposable Banach spaces; shows that in such spaces generators of Co-groups are always bounded linear operators, and that generators of Co-semigroups satisfy the spectral mapping theorem; and gives an example to show that the generators of Co-semigroups in quotient indecomposable spaces are not necessarily bounded.  相似文献

We study the asymptotic limit distributions of Birkhoff sums Sn of a sequence of random variables of dynamical systems with zero entropy and Lebesgue spectrum type. A dynamical system of this family is a skew product over a translation by an angle α. The sequence has long memory effects. It comes that when α/π is irrational the asymptotic behavior of the moments of the normalized sums Sn/fn depends on the properties of the continuous fraction expansion of α. In particular, the moments of order k, , are finite and bounded with respect to n when α/π has bounded continuous fraction expansion. The consequences of these properties on the validity or not of the central limit theorem are discussed.  相似文献

We have studied the absolutely continuous spectrum of a selfadjoint subspace extension generated by a three‐term fourth order difference equation with bounded coefficients using subspace theory. In particular, we have shown that the absolutely continuous spectrum exists outside a certain bounded interval. In addition, we have computed the spectral multiplicity as well as the location of absolutely continuous spectrum of selfadjoint subspace extension under certain asymptotic conditions.  相似文献

We discuss the invariant subspace problem of polynomially bounded operators on a Banach space and obtain an invariant subspace theorem for polynomially bounded operators. At the same time, we state two open problems, which are relative propositions of this invariant subspace theorem. By means of the two relative propositions (if they are true), together with the result of this paper and the result of C.Ambrozie and V.Müller (2004) one can obtain an important conclusion that every polynomially bounded operator on a Banach space whose spectrum contains the unit circle has a nontrivial invariant closed subspace. This conclusion can generalize remarkably the famous result that every contraction on a Hilbert space whose spectrum contains the unit circle has a nontrivial invariant closed subspace (1988 and 1997).  相似文献

We present several new techniques for approximating spectra of linear operators (not necessarily bounded) on an infinite-dimensional, separable Hilbert space. Our approach is to take well-known techniques from finite-dimensional matrix analysis and show how they can be generalized to an infinite-dimensional setting to provide approximations of spectra of elements in a large class of operators. We conclude by proposing a solution to the general problem of approximating the spectrum of an arbitrary bounded operator by introducing the n-pseudospectrum and argue how that can be used as an approximation to the spectrum.  相似文献

In this note we study the property(ω),a variant of Weyl's theorem introduced by Rakoevic,by means of the new spectrum.We establish for a bounded linear operator defined on a Banach space a necessary and sufficient condition for which both property(ω) and approximate Weyl's theorem hold.As a consequence of the main result,we study the property(ω) and approximate Weyl's theorem for a class of operators which we call the λ-weak-H(p) operators.  相似文献
