If the universal set X is not compact but locally compact, a comonotonically additive and monotone functional (for short c.m.) on the class of continuous functions with compact support is not represented by one Choquet integral, but represented by the difference of two Choquet integrals. The conditions for which a c.m. functional can be represented by one Choquet integral are discussed.  相似文献

Let X be a topological space and let C(X) be the ring of all real-valued continuous functions defined on X. We study the representation and approximation of continuous functions by sums of infinite series. Among other results, we give sufficient conditions in order to represent or approximate every continuous function by infinite series of functions, belonging to a previously fixed subfamily of C(X), when X is either a locally compact paracompact space or a Lindelöf space.  相似文献

This paper studies the compact-open topology on the set KC(X) of all real-valued functions defined on a Tychonoff space, which are continuous on compact subsets of X. In addition to metrizability, separability and second countability of this topology on KC(X), various kinds of topological properties of this topology are studied in detail. Actually the motivation for studying the compact-open topology on KC(X) lies in the attempt of having a simpler proof for the characterization of a completeness property of the compact-open topology on C(X), the set of all real-valued continuous functions on X.  相似文献

Let Cp(X) be the space of all continuous real-valued functions on a space X, with the topology of pointwise convergence. In this paper we show that Cp(X) is not domain representable unless X is discrete for a class of spaces that includes all pseudo-radial spaces and all generalized ordered spaces. This is a first step toward our conjecture that if X is completely regular, then Cp(X) is domain representable if and only if X is discrete. In addition, we show that if X is completely regular and pseudonormal, then in the function space Cp(X), Oxtoby's pseudocompleteness, strong Choquet completeness, and weak Choquet completeness are all equivalent to the statement “every countable subset of X is closed”.  相似文献

Let X be a completely regular Hausdorff space and Cb(X) be the space of all real-valued bounded continuous functions on X, endowed with the strict topology βσ. We study topological properties of continuous and weakly compact operators from Cb(X) to a locally convex Hausdorff space in terms of their representing vector measures. In particular, Alexandrov representation type theorems are derived. Moreover, a Yosida-Hewitt type decomposition for weakly compact operators on Cb(X) is given.  相似文献

Using a theorem of Kadets, we construct on an arbitrary infinite dimensional Banach space X equipped with the weak topology a sequence of real-valued continuous functions convergent uniformly on weakly compact subsets to a discontinuous limit.  相似文献

In the paper it is shown that every Hausdorff continuous interval-valued function corresponds uniquely to an equivalence class of quasicontinuous functions. This one-to-one correspondence is used to construct the Dedekind order completion of C(X), the set of all real-valued continuous functions, when X is a compact Hausdorff topological space or a complete metric space.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the role of domain representability and Scott-domain representability in the class of Moore spaces and the larger class of spaces with a base of countable order. We show, for example, that in a Moore space, the following are equivalent: domain representability; subcompactness; the existence of a winning strategy for player α (= the nonempty player) in the strong Choquet game Ch(X); the existence of a stationary winning strategy for player α in Ch(X); and Rudin completeness. We note that a metacompact ?ech-complete Moore space described by Tall is not Scott-domain representable and also give an example of ?ech-complete separable Moore space that is not co-compact and hence not Scott-domain representable. We conclude with a list of open questions.  相似文献

This paper studies some new properties of set functions (and, in particular, “non-additive probabilities” or “capacities”) and the Choquet integral with respect to such functions, in the case of a finite domain. We use an isomorphism between non-additive measures on the original space (of states of the world) and additive ones on a larger space (of events), and embed the space of real-valued functions on the former in the corresponding space on the latter. This embedding gives rise to the following results:
  • the Choquet integral with respect to any totally monotone capacity is an average over minima of the integrand;
  • the Choquet integral with respect to any capacity is the difference between minima of regular integrals over sets of additive measures;
  • under fairly general conditions one may define a “Radon-Nikodym derivative” of one capacity with respect to another;
  • the “optimistic” pseudo-Bayesian update of a non-additive measure follows from the Bayesian update of the corresponding additive measure on the larger space.
  • We also discuss the interpretation of these results and the new light they shed on the theory of expected utility maximization with respect to non-additive measures.  相似文献

    Let (X,A,μ) be a finite nonadditive measure space and M be the set of all finite measurable functions on X. The topology on M, which is determined by the Choquet integral with respect to μ, is investigated. The relationship between this topology and the one determined by the Sugeno integral is examined. Some interesting examples are included.  相似文献

    A metric is defined on a space of functions from a locally compact metric space X into the unit interval I in terms of the Hausdorff metric distance between their compact supported endographs in X × I. Convergence in this metric is shown to be equivalent to the conjunction of the Hausdorff metric convergence of supports in X and two conditions involving numerical values of the functions. The space of nonempty compact subsets of X with the Hausdorff metric is imbedded in the above function space by the characteristic function on subsets of X. Applications of these results to fuzzy subsets of X and fuzzy dynamical systems on X are indicated.  相似文献

    For a Tychonoff space X we consider the compact-open and the topology of pointwise convergence on the set of all continuous real-valued functions, define a selective version of the Reznichenko property connecting the two topologies and characterize it dually via a suitable covering property of the space X.  相似文献

    If X is a compact Radon measure space, and A is a pointwise compact set of real-valued measurable functions on X, then A is compact for the topology of convergence in measure (Corollary 2H). Consequently, if Xo,..., Xn are Radon measure spaces, then a separately continuous real-valued function on Xo×X1×...×Xn is jointly measurable (Theorem 3E). If we seek to generalize this work, we encounter some undecidable problems (§4).  相似文献

    Let C(X) be the space of all continuous real-valued functions on a compact topological space. Then every continuous function $\varphi: {\mathbb{R}^{2}\to \mathbb{R}}$ defines an operation Φ:C(XC(X)→C(X), Φ(f,g)(x)=φ(f(x),g(x)) for xX. We show some sufficient and some necessary conditions for the openness and the weak openness of Φ.  相似文献

    Let C(X,Y) be the set of all continuous functions from a topological space X into a topological space Y. We find conditions on X that make the Isbell and fine Isbell topologies on C(X,Y) equal for all Y. For zero-dimensional spaces X, we show there is a space Z such that the coincidence of the Isbell and fine Isbell topologies on C(X,Z) implies the coincidence on C(X,Y) for all Y. We then consider the question of when the Isbell and fine Isbell topologies coincide on the set of continuous real-valued functions. Our results are similar to results established for consonant spaces.  相似文献

    Let ? : XY be an affine continuous surjection between compact convex sets. Suppose that the canonical copy of the space of real-valued affine continuous functions on Y in the space of real-valued affine continuous functions on X is complemented. We show that if F is a topological vector space, then f : YF is of affine Baire class α whenever the composition f ? ? is of affine Baire class α. This abstract result is applied to extend known results on affine Baire classes of strongly affine Baire mappings.  相似文献

    Let H be a real separable Hilbert space; let X(t), t?[0, 1], be a separable, stochastically continuous, H-valued stochastic process with independent increments. Then a decomposition of X(t) into a uniformly convergent sum of independent processes is found. In this decomposition one of the processes is Gaussian with continuous sample functions, and the remainder of the processes have sample functions whose discontinuities correspond to those of certain real-valued Poisson processes. The decomposition of X(t) leads to a Levy-Khintchine representation of the characteristic functional of X(t). In addition, the case when X(t) has finite variance is explored, and, as a consequence of the above decomposition, a Kolmogorov-type representation of the characteristic functional of X(t) is derived.  相似文献

    The present paper considers the existence of continuous roots of algebraic equations with coefficients being continuous functions defined on compact Hausdorff spaces. For a compact Hausdorff space X, C(X) denotes the Banach algebra of all continuous complex-valued functions on X with the sup norm ∥⋅. The algebra C(X) is said to be algebraically closed if each monic algebraic equation with C(X) coefficients has a root in C(X). First we study a topological characterization of a first-countable compact (connected) Hausdorff space X such that C(X) is algebraically closed. The result has been obtained by Countryman Jr, Hatori-Miura and Miura-Niijima and we provide a simple proof for metrizable spaces.Also we consider continuous approximate roots of the equation znf=0 with respect to z, where fC(X), and provide a topological characterization of compact Hausdorff space X with dimX?1 such that the above equation has an approximate root in C(X) for each fC(X), in terms of the first ?ech cohomology of X.  相似文献
