Compactness by the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness

In the present paper, we establish some identities or estimates for the operator norms and the Hausdorff measures of noncompactness of certain operators given by infinite matrices that map an arbitrary BK-space into the sequence spaces c₀, c, ?_∞ and ?₁, and into the matrix domains of triangles in these spaces. Furthermore, by using the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness, we apply our results to characterize some classes of compact operators on the BK-spaces.     

On measure-compact operators

We obtain new sufficient solvability conditions for equations with measure-compact operators comparable with partially additive ones. We also prove new conditions under which these operators are locally condensing with respect to the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness. As an application of the obtained results we prove one property of bifurcation points which occur, in particular, in nonlinear mechanics.     

Measure of noncompactness and semilinear nonlocal functional differential equations in Banach spaces

This paper is concerned with the measure of noncompactness in the spaces of continuous functions and semilinear functional differential equations with nonlocal conditions in Banach spaces.The relationship between the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness of intersections and the modulus of equicontinuity is studied for some subsets related to the semigroup of linear operators in Banach spaces.The existence of mild solutions is obtained for a class of nonlocal semilinear functional differential equations without the assumption of compactness or equicontinuity on the associated semigroups of linear operators.     

Sull'interpolazione di operatori nonlineari noncompatti in spazi di funzioni integrabili

Usando la misura di non compattezza di Hausdorff, si dimostra un teorema elementare di interpolazione per gli operatori nonlineari noncompatti tra retticoli di Banach di funzioni misurabili. Il teorema astratto viene illustrato tramite un'equazione integrale nonlineare del tipo di Hammerstein. An elementary interpolation theorem involving the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness for nonlinear operators in Banach lattices of measurable functions is proved. The abstract theorem is illustrated by a nonlinear noncompact integral operator equation of Hammerstein type.

Controllability for systems governed by semilinear differential inclusions in a Banach space with a noncompact semigroup

We study the controllability problem for a system governed by a semilinear differential inclusion in a Banach space not assuming that the semigroup generated by the linear part of inclusion is compact. Instead we suppose that the multivalued nonlinearity satisfies the regularity condition expressed in terms of the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness. It allows us to apply the topological degree theory for condensing operators and to obtain the controllability results for both upper Carathéodory and almost lower semicontinuous types of nonlinearity. As application we consider the controllability for a system governed by a perturbed wave equation.     

A note on compact operators on matrix domains

We establish some identities or estimates for the operator norms and Hausdorff measures of noncompactness of linear operators given by infinite matrices that map the matrix domains of triangles in arbitrary BK spaces with AK, or in the spaces of all convergent or bounded sequences, into the spaces of all null, convergent or bounded sequences, or of all absolutely convergent series. Furthermore, we apply these results to the characterizations of compact operators on the matrix domains of triangles in the classical sequence spaces, and on the sequence spaces studied in [I. Djolovi?, Compact operators on the spaces and , J. Math. Anal. Appl. 318 (2) (2006) 658-666; I. Djolovi?, On the space of bounded Euler difference sequences and some classes of compact operators, Appl. Math. Comput. 182 (2) (2006) 1803-1811].     

Some matrix transformations and measures of noncompactness

In this paper we shall compute the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness for any bounded subset of \(r_{p}^{q}\) and also study the evaluation of the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness of an operator on the space \(r_{p}^{q}\ (1 \leq p < \infty)\) associated with some matrix transformation.     

Some New Results Related to Compact Matrix Operators in the Class((l_p)T,l_∞)

The main goal of this paper is to establish necessary and sufficient conditions for a matrix A ∈((lp)T,l∞), where T is an arbitrary triangle, 1 ≤ p ≤∞, to be a compact operator. In the past,only sufficient conditions were established in almost all of those cases, by using the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness. We improve those results by applying another method for the characterizations of compact linear operators between BK spaces.     

Nonlocal nonlinear differential equations with a measure of noncompactness in Banach spaces

In this paper we give the existence of integral solutions for nonlinear differential equations with nonlocal initial conditions under the assumptions of the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness in separable and uniformly smooth Banach spaces.     

On some measures of noncompactness in the space of continuous functions

We consider some quantities in the space of functions continuous on a bounded interval, which are related to monotonicity of functions. Based on those quantities we construct a few measures of noncompactness in the mentioned function space. Several properties of those measures are established; among others it is shown that they are regular or “partly” regular measures and equivalent to the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness.
