A discrete analog of the dressing method is presented and used to derive integrable nonlinear evolution equations, including two infinite families of novel continuous and discrete coupled integrable systems of equations of nonlinear Schrödinger type. First, a demonstration is given of how discrete nonlinear integrable equations can be derived starting from their linear counterparts. Then, starting from two uncoupled, discrete one‐directional linear wave equations, an appropriate matrix Riemann‐Hilbert problem is constructed, and a discrete matrix nonlinear Schrödinger system of equations is derived, together with its Lax pair. The corresponding compatible vector reductions admitted by these systems are also discussed, as well as their continuum limits. Finally, by increasing the size of the problem, three‐component discrete and continuous integrable discrete systems are derived, as well as their generalizations to systems with an arbitrary number of components.  相似文献

In recent years, many approaches have been utilized for finding the exact solutions of nonlinear systems of partial differential equations. In this paper, the first integral method introduced by Feng is adopted for solving some important nonlinear systems of partial differential equations, including, KdV, Kaup–Boussinesq and Wu–Zhang systems, analytically. By means of this method, some exact solutions for these systems of equations are formally obtained. The results obtained confirm that the proposed method is an efficient technique for analytic treatment of a wide variety of nonlinear systems of partial differential equations.  相似文献

In this article a broad class of systems of implicit differential–algebraic equations (DAEs) is considered, including the equations of mechanical systems with holonomic and nonholonomic constraints. Solutions to these DAEs can be approximated numerically by applying a class of super partitioned additive Runge–Kutta (SPARK) methods. Several properties of the SPARK coefficients, satisfied by the family of Lobatto IIIA-B-C-C*-D coefficients, are crucial to deal properly with the presence of constraints and algebraic variables. A main difficulty for an efficient implementation of these methods lies in the numerical solution of the resulting systems of nonlinear equations. Inexact modified Newton iterations can be used to solve these systems. Linear systems of the modified Newton method can be solved approximately with a preconditioned linear iterative method. Preconditioners can be obtained after certain transformations to the systems of nonlinear and linear equations. These transformations rely heavily on specific properties of the SPARK coefficients. A new truly parallelizable preconditioner is presented.  相似文献

A new universal theory of dynamical chaos in nonlinear dissipative systems of differential equations including ordinary and partial, autonomous and non-autonomous differential equations and differential equations with delay arguments is presented in this paper. Four corner-stones lie in the foundation of this theory: the Feigenbaum’s theory of period doubling bifurcations in one-dimensional mappings, the Sharkovskii’s theory of bifurcations of cycles of an arbitrary period up to the cycle of period three in one-dimensional mappings, the Magnitskii’s theory of rotor type singular points of two-dimensional non-autonomous systems of differential equations as a bridge between one-dimensional mappings and differential equations and the theory of homoclinic cascade of bifurcations of stable cycles in nonlinear differential equations. All propositions of the theory are strictly proved and illustrated by numerous analytical and computing examples.  相似文献

We present the theory of breaking waves in nonlinear systems whose dynamics and spatial structure are described by multidimensional nonlinear hyperbolic wave equations. We obtain a general relation between systems of first-order quasilinear equations and nonlinear hyperbolic equations of higher orders, which, in particular, describe electromagnetic waves in a medium with nonlinear polarization of an arbitrary form. We use this approach to construct exact multivalued solutions of such equations and to study their spatial structure and dynamics. The results are generalized to a wide class of multidimensional equations such as d’Alembert equations, nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations, and nonlinear telegraph equations.  相似文献

We study the transient optimization of gas transport networks including both discrete controls due to switching of controllable elements and nonlinear fluid dynamics described by the system of isothermal Euler equations, which are partial differential equations in time and 1-dimensional space. This combination leads to mixed-integer optimization problems subject to nonlinear hyperbolic partial differential equations on a graph. We propose an instantaneous control approach in which suitable Euler discretizations yield systems of ordinary differential equations on a graph. This networked system of ordinary differential equations is shown to be well-posed and affine-linear solutions of these systems are derived analytically. As a consequence, finite-dimensional mixed-integer linear optimization problems are obtained for every time step that can be solved to global optimality using general-purpose solvers. We illustrate our approach in practice by presenting numerical results on a realistic gas transport network.  相似文献

The generalized Hamiltonian structures for a hierarchy of nonlinear evolution equations are established with the aid of the trace identity. Using the nonlinearization approach, the hierarchy of nonlinear evolution equations is decomposed into a class of new finite-dimensional Hamiltonian systems. The generating function of integrals and their generator are presented, based on which the finite-dimensional Hamiltonian systems are proved to be completely integrable in the Liouville sense. As an application, solutions for the hierarchy of nonlinear evolution equations are reduced to solving the compatible Hamiltonian systems of ordinary differential equations.  相似文献

Based on a notion of Stieltjes derivative of a function with respect to another function, we provide Ulam–Hyers type stability results for nonlinear differential equations driven by measures on compact or on unbounded intervals, in the lack of Lipschitz continuity assumptions. In particular, one can deduce stability results for generalized differential equations, dynamic equations on time scales or impulsive differential equations (including the case of an infinite number of impulses that accumulate in the considered interval, thus allowing the study of Zeno hybrid systems).  相似文献

The theory relies on four remarkable results: Feigenbaum’s period doubling theory for cycles of one-dimensional unimodal maps, Sharkovskii’s theory of birth of cycles of arbitrary period up to cycle of period three in one-dimensional unimodal maps, Magnitskii’s theory of rotor singular point in two-dimensional nonautonomous ODE systems, acting as a bridge between one-dimensional maps and differential equations, and Magnitskii’s theory of homoclinic bifurcation cascade that follows the Sharkovskii cascade. All the theoretical propositions are rigorously proved and illustrated with numerous analytical examples and numerical computations, which are presented for all classical chaotic nonlinear dissipative systems of differential equations.  相似文献
