LetC(X,Y) be the space of continuous functions from a metric space (X,d) to a metric space (Y, e).C(X, Y) can be thought as subset of the hyperspaceCL(X×Y) of closed and nonempty subsets ofX×Y by identifying each element ofC(X,Y) with its graph. We considerC(X,Y) with the topology inherited from the Wijsman topology induced onCL(X×Y) by the box metric ofd ande. We study the relationships between the Wijsman topology and the compact-open topology onC(X,Y) and also conditions under which the Wijsman topology coincide with the Fell topology. Sufficient conditions under which the compactopen topology onC(X,Y) is weaker than the Wijsman topology are given (IfY is totally bounded, then for every metric spaceX the compactopen topology onC(X,Y) is weaker than the Wijsman topology and the same is true forX locally connected andY rim-totally bounded). We prove that a metric spaceX is boundedly compact iff the Wijsman topology onC(X, ℝ) is weaker than the compact-open topology. We show that ifX is a σ-compact complete metric space andY a compact metric space, then the Wijsman topology onC(X,Y) is Polish.  相似文献

Denote by Cs(X;E) the space of the continuous functions defined on the completely regular and Hausdorff space X, with values in the locally convex topological vector space E, when it is endowed with the simple or point-wise convergence topology. We give here some conditions on X and on E under which the space Cs(X;E) is bornological or ultrabornological and characterize in some cases the corresponding associated spaces. We give also a few results concerning the case of the compact connvergence topology.  相似文献

Let X be a limit space, Y a topological space. We show that c(X,Y), the limitierung of continuous convergence on LIM(X,Y), is topological whenever X is basic locally compact. For regular Y, local compactness of X is sufficient. In both cases, c(X,Y) coincides with the compact-open topology. If X satisfies a certain regularity condition, the fact that c(X,Y) is topological implies, conversely, that X is (basic) locally compact. The author would like to thank S. Weck for some inspiring discussions.  相似文献

In the present paper we introduce notions of A-splitting and A-jointly continuous topology on the set C(Y,Z) of all continuous maps of a topological space Y into a topological space Z, where A is any family of spaces. These notions satisfy the basic properties of splitting and jointly continuous topologies on C(Y,Z). In particular, for every A, the greatest A-splitting topology on C(Y,Z) (denoted by τ(A) always exists. We indicate some families A of spaces for which the topology τ(A) coincides with the greatest splitting topology on C(X,Y). We give a notion of equivalent families of spaces and try to find a “simple” family which is equivalent to a given family. In particular, we prove that every family is equivalent to a family consisting of one space, and the family of all spaces is equivalent to a family of all T1-spaces containing at most one nonisolated point. We compare the topologies τ({X}) for distinct compact metrizable spaces X and give some examples. Bibliography: 13 titles. Translated fromZapiski Nauchnykh Seminarov POMI, Vol. 208, 1993, pp. 82–97. We consider maps u:X→Y of Riemannian manifolds which are locally energy minimizing subject to a constraint of the form Im(u) where M denotes a smooth bounded domain contained in a regular ball B of the target manifold. In general local minima are regular up to a set of vanishing Hausdorff measure, here we show for star-shaped obstacles M singular points can be exluded.  相似文献

Abstract

Let (Z,Γ) be an H-structure. Then, for each exponential object Y in TOP, an H-structure is induced on the topological space Ct(Y,Z) of continuous maps equipped with the appropriate function space topology t (e.g. t = Tis, where Tis is the Isbell topology on C(Y,Z)).

If (Z,Γ) is H-associative (resp.admits inversion), then the induced H-structure is also H-associative (resp. admits inversion).

If (Z,Γ) is H-associative and admits inversion (e.g. a topological group) then all path components of Ct(Y,Z) belong to the same homotopy type.

We also study the special case of (Z,Γ) being a topological group. Moreover, we prove that certain functions between function spaces are H-homomorphisms of the induced H-structures in the function spaces.  相似文献

For bicompact X, the topology of uniform convergence on C(X) coincides with the Vietoris topology on the function graphs. The Vietoris topology on C(X) in turn is generated by the Hausdorff uniformity which is complete only for finite X. The supplement CH(X) of the space C(X) with respect to the Hausdorff uniformity consists of lower semi-continuous multivalued mappings Φ : X → ℝ with compact fibers. The paper studies the spaces CH(X) in the spaces of multivalued mappings. It is proved that CH(X) is a Q-manifold provided that X is a Peano continuum. Several results on the metrizability on bicompacta having the form CH(X, I) are also obtained. Bibliography: 27 titles. Translated from Trudy Seminara imeni I. G. Let $${\cal Z}$$ and X be Hausdorff real topological vector spaces and let $${\cal L}_b(X,{\cal Z})$$ be the space of continuous linear mappings from X into $${\cal Z}$$ equipped with the topology of bounded convergence. In this paper, we define the (S)+ condition for operators from a nonempty subset of X into $${\cal L}_b(X,{\cal Z})$$ and derive some existence results for vector variational inequalities with operators of the class (S)+. Some applications to vector complementarity problems are given.  相似文献

Symbols w(X), nw(X), and hl(X) denote the weight, the network weight, and the hereditary Lindelöf number of a space X, respectively. We prove the following factorization theorems.
  1. Let X and Y be Tychonoff spaces, φ: X→Y a continuous mapping, hl(X)≤τ, and w(Y)≤τ. Then there exist a Tychonoff space Z and continuous mappings ψ: X→Z, χ: Z→Y such that φ=χ o ψ, Z=ψ(X), w(Z)≤τ andind Z≤ind X. Moreover, if nw(X)≤τ, then mapping ψ is one-to-one.
  2. Let π: G→H be a continuous homomorphism of a Hausdorff topological group G to a Hausdorff topological group H, hl(G)≤τ and w(H)≤τ. Then there are a Hausdorff topological group G* and continuous homomorphisms g: G→G*, h: G*→H so that π=h o g, G*=g(G), w(G*)≤τ andind G*ind G. If nw(G)≤τ, then g is one-to-one.
  3. For every continuous mapping φ: X→Y of a regular Lindelöf space X to a Tychonoff space Y one can find a Tychonoff space Z and continuous mappings ψ: X→Z, χ: Z→Y such that φ=χ o ψ, Z=ψ(X), w(Z)≤w(Y),dim Z≤dim X, andind 0 Z≤ind 0 X, whereind 0 is the dimension function defined by V.V.Filippov with the help of Gδ-partitions. If we additionally suppose that X has a countable network, then ψ can be chosen to be one-to-one. The analogous result also holds for topological groups.
  4. For each continuous homomorphism π: G→H of a Hausdorff Lindelöf Σ-group G (in particular, of a σ-compact group G) to a Hausdorff group H there exist a Hausdorff group G* and continuous homomorphisms g: G→G*, h:G*→H so that π=h o g, G*=g(G), w(G*)≤w(H),dimG*dimG, andind G*ind G. The space of continuous maps from a topological spaceX to topological spaceY is denoted byC(X,Y) with the compact-open topology. In this paper we prove thatC(X,Y) is an absolute retract ifX is a locally compact separable metric space andY a convex set in a Banach space. From the above fact we know thatC(X,Y) is homomorphic to Hilbert spacel 2 ifX is a locally compact separable metric space andY a separable Banach space; in particular,C(R n,Rm) is homomorphic to Hilbert spacel 2. Let C(X,E) be the vector space of all continuous functions on a completely regular Hausdorff space X with values in a locally convex space E, equipped with the compact-open topology. In this note it will be shown that for many classes of locally convex spaces K C(X,E) lies in K if and only if C(X)=C(X,¦K) (¦K=¦R or C) and E belong to K. This is valid for the classes K. of all metrizable, normed, (DF)-, -locally topological, separable, quasi-complete, complete, nuclear, Schwartz, semi-Montel, Montel, semi-reflexive, reflexive and quasi-normable locally convex spaces, respectively. But in general C(X,E) is not quasi-barrelled, barrelled and bornological, respectively, if C(X) and E belong to the same class. We shall give sufficient conditions for C(X,E) to be quasi-barrelled and barrelled, respectively.Herrn Professor Gottfried Köthe zum 75. Geburtstag gewidmet  相似文献

Let X be a locally convex Hausdorff space and let C0(S,X) be the space of all continuous functions f:SX, with compact support on the locally compact space S. In this paper we prove a Riesz representation theorem for a class of bounded operators T:C0(S,X)→X, where the representing integrals are X-valued Pettis integrals with respect to bounded signed measures on S. Under the additional assumption that X is a locally convex space, having the convex compactness property, or either, X is a locally convex space whose dual X is a barrelled space for an appropriate topology, we obtain a complete identification between all X-valued Pettis integrals on S and the bounded operators T:C0(S,X)→X they represent. Finally we give two illustrations of the representation theorem proved, in the particular case when X is the topological dual of a locally convex space.  相似文献

LetE be a real (or complex) Banach space,Y a compact Hausdorff space, andC(Y) the space of real (or complex) valued continuous functions onY. IfT is an extreme point in the unit ball of bounded linear operators fromE intoC(Y), then it is shown thatT * maps (the natural imbedding inC(Y) * of)Y into the weak *-closure of extS(E *), provided thatY is extremally disconnected, orE=C(X), whereX is a dispersed compact Hausdorff space.  相似文献

Let X be a completely regular Hausdorff space, Cb(X) the space of all scalar-valued bounded continuous functions on X with strict topologies. We prove that these are locally convex topological algebras with jointly continuous multiplication. Also we find the necessary and sufficient conditions for these algebras to be locally m-convex.  相似文献

In this work we expand upon the theory of open ultrafilters in the setting of regular spaces. In [E. van Douwen, Remote points, Dissertationes Math. (Rozprawy Mat.) 188 (1981) 1-45], van Douwen showed that if X is a non-feebly compact Tychonoff space with a countable π-base, then βX has a remote point. We develop a related result for the class of regular spaces which shows that in a non-feebly compact regular space X with a countable π-base, there exists a free open ultrafilter on X that is also a regular filter.Of central importance is a result of Mooney [D.D. Mooney, H-bounded sets, Topology Proc. 18 (1993) 195-207] that characterizes open ultrafilters as open filters that are saturated and disjoint-prime. Smirnov [J.M. Smirnov, Some relations on the theory of dimensions, Mat. Sb. 29 (1951) 157-172] showed that maximal completely regular filters are disjoint prime, from which it was concluded that βX is a perfect extension for a Tychonoff space X. We extend this result, and other results of Skljarenko [E.G. Skljarenko, Some questions in the theory of bicompactifications, Amer. Math. Soc. Transl. Ser. 2 58 (1966) 216-266], by showing that a maximal regular filter on any Hausdorff space is disjoint prime.Open ultrafilters are integral to the study of maximal points and lower topologies in the partial order of Hausdorff topologies on a fixed set. We show that a maximal point in a Hausdorff space cannot have a neighborhood base of feebly compact neighborhoods. One corollary is that no locally countably compact Hausdorff topology is a lower topology, which was shown previously under the additional assumption of countable tightness by Alas and Wilson [O. Alas, R. Wilson, Which topologies can have immediate successors in the lattice of T1-topologies? Appl. Gen. Topol. 5 (2004) 231-242]. Another is that a maximal point in a feebly compact space is not a regular point. This generalizes results of both Carlson [N. Carlson, Lower upper topologies in the Hausdorff partial order on a fixed set, Topology Appl. 154 (2007) 619-624] and Costantini [C. Costantini, On some questions about posets of topologies on a fixed set, Topology Proc. 32 (2008) 187-225].  相似文献

If X and Y are Hausdorff spaces with X locally compact, then the compact-open topology on the set C(X,Y) of continuous maps from X to Y is known to produce the right function-space topology. But it is also known to fail badly to be locally compact, even when Y is locally compact. We show that for any Tychonoff space Y, there is a densely injective space Z containing Y as a densely embedded subspace such that, for every locally compact space X, the set C(X,Z) has a compact Hausdorff topology whose relative topology on C(X,Y) is the compact-open topology. The following are derived as corollaries: (1) If X and Y are compact Hausdorff spaces then C(X,Y) under the compact-open topology is embedded into the Vietoris hyperspace V(X×Y). (2) The space of real-valued continuous functions on a locally compact Hausdorff space under the compact-open topology is embedded into a compact Hausdorff space whose points are pairs of extended real-valued functions, one lower and the other upper semicontinuous. The first application is generalized in two ways.  相似文献

Let X be a completely regular Hausdorff space and let E be a real locally convex Hausdorff space. Katsaras [2] has studied the topologies 0, , and 1, for the vector-valued case on Crc(X,E), the space of all continuous E-valued functions on X with relatively compact range. The corresponding dual spaces are the spaces Mt (B,E'), M (B,E'), and M (B,E') of all t-additive, all -additive, and all -additive members of M(B,E'), the dual space of Crc (X,E') under the uniform topology. In this paper we study the subspace Me(B,E') of M(B,E'). A locally convex topology e is defined on Crc(X,E) that yields Me (B,E') as a dual space. It is proved that if E is strongly Mackey then (C (X,E),e) is strongly Mackey. The author is grateful to Professor J. Schmets for useful suggestions.  相似文献

We give a generalization of the Stone–Weierstrass property for subalgebras of C (X), with X a completely regular Hausdorff space. In particular, we study in this paper some subalgebras of C0(X), with X a locally compact Hausdorff space, provided with weighted norm topology. By using the Stone–Weierstrass property, we then describe the ideal structure of these algebras. (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献
