We find the exact small deviation asymptotics for the L2-norm of various m-times integrated Gaussian processes closely connected with the Wiener process and the Ornstein – Uhlenbeck process. Using a general approach from the spectral theory of linear differential operators we obtain the two-term spectral asymptotics of eigenvalues in corresponding boundary value problems. This enables us to improve the recent results from [15] on the small ball asymptotics for a class of m-times integrated Wiener processes. Moreover, the exact small ball asymptotics for the m-times integrated Brownian bridge, the m-times integrated Ornstein – Uhlenbeck process and similar processes appear as relatively simple examples illustrating the developed general theory.Partially supported by grants of RFBR 01-01-00245 and 02-01-01099. 相似文献

In 1953, Smith (Proc Camb Philos Soc 49:449–461, 1953), and, following him, Syski (1960) suggested a method to find the waiting time distribution for one server queues with Erlang-n arrivals and Erlang-m service times by using characteristic roots. Syski shows that these roots can be determined from a very simple equation,
but an equation of degree n + m. Syski also shows that almost all of the characteristic roots are complex. In this paper, we derive a set of equations, one
for each complex root, which can be solved by Newton’s method using real arithmetic. This method simplifies the programming
logic because it avoids deflation and the subsequent polishing of the roots. Using the waiting time distribution, Syski then

Given 1≤ p,q < ∞, let BLpLq be the class of all Banach lattices X such that X is isometrically lattice isomorphic to a band in some Lp(Lq)-Banach lattice. We show that the range of a positive contractive projection on any BLpLq-Banach lattice is itself in BLpLq. It is a consequence of this theorem and previous results that BLpLq is first-order axiomatizable in the language of Banach lattices. By studying the pavings of arbitrary BLpLq-Banach lattices by finite dimensional sublattices that are themselves in this class, we give an explicit set of axioms for

The main purpose of this paper is to use the strong stability method to approximate the characteristics of the M

2/1 queue with preemptive priority by those of the classical M/G/1 queue. The latter is simpler and more exploitable in practice. After perturbing the arrival intensity of the priority requests,
we derive the stability conditions and next obtain the stability inequalities with an exact computation of constants. From
those theoretical results, we elaborate an algorithm allowing us to verify the approximation conditions and to provide the
made numerical error. In order to have an idea about the efficiency of this approach, we consider a concrete example whose

We give a presentation by generators and relations of a certain monoid generating a subgroup of index two in the group Aut(F
2) of automorphisms of the rank two free group F
2 and show that it can be realized as a monoid in the group B
4 of braids on four strings. In the second part we use Christoffel words to construct an explicit basis of F
2 lifting any given basis of the free abelian group Z
2. We further give an algorithm allowing to decide whether two elements of F
2 form a basis or not. We also show that, under suitable conditions, a basis has a unique conjugate consisting of two palindromes.
