Recently, norm equivalences between spherical polynomials and their sample values at scattered sites have been proved. These so-called Marcinkiewicz–Zygmund inequalities involve a parameter that characterizes the density of the sampling set and they are applicable to all polynomials whose degree does not exceed an upper bound that is determined by the density parameter. We show that if one is satisfied by norm equivalences that hold with prescribed probability only, then the upper bound for the degree of the admissible polynomials can be enlarged significantly and that then, moreover, there exist fixed sampling sets which work for polynomials of all degrees.  相似文献

In the harmonic Bergman space with the normal weight, we prove norm equivalences in terms of radial, gradient and invariant gradient norms. Using this, we give new characterizations in terms of Lipschitz type conditions with Euclidean, pseudo-hyperbolic and hyperbolic metrics on the ball.  相似文献

In this paper we consider what happens when Adams self maps are modified by adding certain unstable maps. The unstable maps which are added are trivial after a single suspension. We can choose the modification so that the maps are still K-theory equivalences but the loops on the map are no longer K-theory equivalences. As a corollary we note that the maps are K-theory equivalences but not v 1-periodic equivalences. Another consequence is the behavior of the cobar spectral sequences for generalized homology theories. Tamaki shows that in certain cases a cobar-type spectral sequence for generalized homology theories is well behaved. The maps we construct give an example where despite the connectivity of the spaces the cobar spectral sequence is still poorly behaved. Finally we use our maps to construct spaces whose Bousfield class is distinct from the cofiber of the Adams map but which becomes the same after one suspension.  相似文献

Summary. We establish multiresolution norm equivalences in weighted spaces L 2 w ((0,1)) with possibly singular weight functions w(x)≥0 in (0,1). Our analysis exploits the locality of the biorthogonal wavelet basis and its dual basis functions. The discrete norms are sums of wavelet coefficients which are weighted with respect to the collocated weight function w(x) within each scale. Since norm equivalences for Sobolev norms are by now well-known, our result can also be applied to weighted Sobolev norms. We apply our theory to the problem of preconditioning p-Version FEM and wavelet discretizations of degenerate elliptic and parabolic problems from finance. In this article we introduce a new mixed Lagrange–Hermite interpolating wavelet family on the interval, to deal with two types (Dirichlet and Neumann) of boundary conditions. As this construction is a slight modification of the interpolating wavelets on the interval of Donoho, it leads to fast decomposition, error estimates and norm equivalences. This new basis is then used in adaptive wavelet collocation schemes for the solution of one dimensional fourth order problems. Numerical tests conducted on the 1D Euler–Bernoulli beam problem, show the efficiency of the method.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the adaptive approximation in Sobolev spaces. After establishing some norm equivalences and inequalities in Besov spaces, we are able to prove that the best N terms approximation with wavelet‐like basis in Sobolev spaces exhibits the proper approximation order in terms of N?1. This indicates that the computational load in adaptive approximation is proportional to the approximation accuracy. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We show that any category that is enriched, tensored, and cotensored over the category of compactly generated weak Hausdorff spaces, and that satisfies an additional hypothesis concerning the behavior of colimits of sequences of cofibrations, admits a Quillen closed model structure in which the weak equivalences are the homotopy equivalences. The fibrations are the Hurewicz fibrations and the cofibrations are a subclass of the Hurewicz cofibrations. This result applies to various categories of spaces, unbased or based, categories of prespectra and spectra in the sense of Lewis and May, the categories of L-spectra and S-modules of Elmendorf, Kriz, Mandell and May, and the equivariant analogues of all the afore-mentioned categories.  相似文献

The functional principal components analysis (PCA) involves new considerations on the mechanism of measuring distances (the norm). Some properties arising in functional framework (e.g., smoothing) could be taken into account through an inner product in the data space. But this proposed inner product could make, for example, interpretational or (and) computational abilities worse. The results obtained in this paper establish equivalences between the PCA with the proposed inner product and certain PCA with a given well-suited inner product. These results have been proved in the theoretical framework given by Hilbert valued random variables, in which multivariate and functional PCAs appear jointly as particular cases.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the construction and analysis of multilevel Schwarz preconditioners for partition of unity methods applied to elliptic problems. We show under which conditions on a given multilevel partition of unity hierarchy (MPUM) one even obtains uniformly bounded condition numbers and how to realize such requirements. The main anlytical tools are certain norm equivalences based on two-level splits providing frames that are stable under taking subsets. Firm modules over a nonunital ring are introduced by Quillen to study properties of Morita invariance extending thus the case of unitary rings. In the present paper we introduce new homology groups in the category of firm modules which are preserved under Morita equivalences in very general terms. We see that there are long exact sequences of homology attached to certain morphisms of firm modules. Our arguments are based in Quillen's small object argument.  相似文献

We give a new approach to the construction of derived equivalences between blocks of finite groups, based on perverse equivalences, in the setting of Broué?s abelian defect group conjecture. We provide in particular local and global perversity data describing the principal blocks and the derived equivalences for a number of finite simple groups with Sylow subgroups elementary abelian of order 9. We also examine extensions to automorphism groups in a general setting.  相似文献

In this paper we propose an approach to homotopical algebra where the basic ingredient is a category with two classes of distinguished morphisms: strong and weak equivalences. These data determine the cofibrant objects by an extension property analogous to the classical lifting property of projective modules. We define a Cartan-Eilenberg category as a category with strong and weak equivalences such that there is an equivalence of categories between its localisation with respect to weak equivalences and the relative localisation of the subcategory of cofibrant objects with respect to strong equivalences. This equivalence of categories allows us to extend the classical theory of derived additive functors to this non additive setting. The main examples include Quillen model categories and categories of functors defined on a category endowed with a cotriple (comonad) and taking values on a category of complexes of an abelian category. In the latter case there are examples in which the class of strong equivalences is not determined by a homotopy relation. Among other applications of our theory, we establish a very general acyclic models theorem.  相似文献

There exist many classes of block-projections algorithms for approximating solutions of linear least-squares problems. Generally, these methods generate sequences convergent to the minimal norm least-squares solution only for consistent problems. In the inconsistent case, which usually appears in practice because of some approximations or measurements, these sequences do no longer converge to a least-squares solution or they converge to the minimal norm solution of a “perturbed” problem. In the present paper, we overcome this difficulty by constructing extensions for almost all the above classes of block-projections methods. We prove that the sequences generated with these extensions always converge to a least-squares solution and, with a suitable initial approximation, to the minimal norm solution of the problem. Numerical experiments, described in the last section of the paper, confirm the theoretical results obtained.  相似文献

Let k be a commutative ringG a finite groupR and S fully G-graded k-algebras. In this paper we investigate Morita equivalences, derived equivalences and stable equivalences of Morita type between R and S, which are induced by G-graded R, 5-bimodules or complexes of G-graded bimodules. Such equivalences occur naturally in the case of group algebras in certain reduction steps for Broue's conjecture, and we show how they can be lifted from equivalences between R 1 and S 1.  相似文献

Stable equivalences are studied between any finite dimensional algebra A with a simple projective module and a simple injective module and an algebra B obtained from A by ‘gluing’ the corresponding idempotents of A; this extends results by Martinez-Villa. Stable equivalences modulo projectives are compared to stable equivalences modulo semisimples, and in either situation a characterization is given for a radical embedding to induce such a stable equivalence.  相似文献

In this paper, we study derived equivalences between triangular matrix algebras using certain classical recollements. We show that special properties of these recollements actually characterize triangular matrix algebras and describe methods to construct tilting modules and tilting complexes inducing derived equivalences between them.  相似文献

Weyl’s discrepancy measure induces a norm on ? n which shows a monotonicity and a Lipschitz property when applied to differences of index-shifted sequences. It turns out that its n-dimensional unit ball is a zonotope that results from a multiple sheared projection from the (n+1)-dimensional hypercube which can be interpreted as a discrete differentiation. This characterization reveals that this norm is the canonical metric between sequences of differences of values from the unit interval in the sense that the n-dimensional unit ball of the discrepancy norm equals the space of such sequences.  相似文献

Boolean expressions of Boolean algebras are logically equivalent to conditional logic expressions; we define and give theorems about equivalences of general conditional expressions; moreover, conditional expressions are properly contained in n-valued Post algebras. Theorems are given regarding equivalences of conditional logic in Post logic.  相似文献
