We prove that a conjecture of Fomin, Fulton, Li, and Poon, associated to ordered pairs of partitions, holds for many infinite families of such pairs. We also show that the bounded height case can be reduced to checking that the conjecture holds for a finite number of pairs, for any given height. Moreover, we propose a natural generalization of the conjecture to the case of skew shapes.  相似文献

For a bounded sequence of matrices defining a nonautonomous dynamics with discrete time, we obtain all possible relations between the regularity coefficients introduced by Lyapunov, Perron and Grobman. This includes considering general inequalities between the coefficients and showing that these inequalities are the best possible, in the sense that for any three nonnegative numbers satisfying them, and for no others, there exists a bounded sequence of matrices having the numbers respectively as Lyapunov, Perron and Grobman coefficients. Moreover, we establish inequalities between the three coefficients and some other regularity coefficients.  相似文献

The hive model is used to show that the saturation of any essential Horn inequality leads to the factorisation of Littlewood-Richardson coefficients. The proof is based on the use of combinatorial objects known as puzzles. These are shown not only to account for the origin of Horn inequalities, but also to determine the constraints on hives that lead to factorisation. Defining a primitive Littlewood-Richardson coefficient to be one for which all essential Horn inequalities are strict, it is shown that every Littlewood-Richardson coefficient can be expressed as a product of primitive coefficients. Precisely the same result is shown to apply to the polynomials defined by stretched Littlewood-Richardson coefficients.  相似文献

The Littlewood-Richardson (LR) coefficient counts, among many other things, the LR tableaux of a given shape and a given content. We prove that the number of LR tableaux weakly increases if one adds to its shape and content the shape and the content of another LR tableau. We also investigate the behaviour of the number of LR tableaux, if one repeatedly adds to the shape another shape with either fixed or arbitrary content. This is a generalisation of the stretched LR coefficients, where one repeatedly adds the same shape and content to itself.  相似文献

We extend the concept of a binomial coefficient to all integer values of its parameters. Our approach is purely algebraic, but we show that it is equivalent to the evaluation of binomial coefficients by means of the Γ-function. In particular, we prove that the traditional rule of “negation” is wrong and should be substituted by a slightly more complex rule. This paper has two goals. It is an expository paper on homotopy groups with coefficients in an abelian group and it contains new results which correct old errors and omissions in low dimensions. The homotopy groups with coefficients are functors on the homotopy category of pointed spaces. They satisfy a universal coefficient theorem, give long exact sequences when applied to fibrations, and have Hurewicz maps into homology groups with coefficients.  相似文献

We give an algorithm to find it. We also prove that there is a smallest such for -subalgebras. The ideal results use reduced Gröbner bases. For the subalgebra results we develop and then use subduced SAGBI (bases), the analog to reduced Gröbner bases.

Consider a Gauss sum for a finite field of characteristic p, where p is an odd prime. When such a sum (or a product of such sums) is a p-adic integer we show how it can be realized as a p-adic limit of a sequence of multinomial coefficients. As an application we generalize some congruences of Hahn and Lee to exhibit p-adic limit formulae, in terms of multinomial coefficients, for certain algebraic integers in imaginary quadratic fields related to the splitting of rational primes. We also give an example illustrating how such congruences arise from a p-integral formal group law attached to the p-adic unit part of a product of Gauss sums.  相似文献

We prove a formula for the Grothendieck class of a quiver variety, which generalizes the cohomological component formulas of Knutson, Miller, and Shimozono. Our formula implies that the -theoretic quiver coefficients have alternating signs and gives an explicit combinatorial formula for these coefficients. We also prove some new variants of the factor sequences conjecture and a conjecture of Knutson, Miller, and Shimozono, which states that their double ratio formula agrees with the original quiver formulas of the author and Fulton. For completeness we include a short proof of the ratio formula.

We consider quadrature formulas of high degree of precision for the computation of the Fourier coefficients in expansions of functions with respect to a system of orthogonal polynomials. In particular, we show the uniqueness of a multiple node formula for the Fourier-Tchebycheff coefficients given by Micchelli and Sharma and construct new Gaussian formulas for the Fourier coefficients of a function, based on the values of the function and its derivatives.  相似文献

Let G be a general linear group over a local field F. We consider the matrix describing the Satake isomorphism with respect to natural bases.
